‘Imran b. Hussain asked the prophet ﷺ about the prayer a man offers in sitting condition. He replied: his prayer in standing condition is better than his prayer in sitting condition, and his prayer in sitting condition is half the prayer he offers in standing condition, and his prayer in lying condition is half the prayer he offers in sitting condition.  

أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ صَلاَةِ الرَّجُلِ قَاعِدًا فَقَالَ صَلاَتُهُ قَائِمًا أَفْضَلُ مِنْ صَلاَتِهِ قَاعِدًا وَصَلاَتُهُ قَاعِدًا عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ صَلاَتِهِ قَائِمًا وَصَلاَتُهُ نَائِمًا عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ صَلاَتِهِ قَاعِدًا  

It was narrated from ‘Imran bin Husain that he asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about a man who prays sitting down. He said, “Whoever performs prayer standing up, that is better. Whoever performs prayer sitting down will have half the reward of one who prays standing. And whoever performs prayer lying down will have half the reward of one who prays sitting.”

سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ وَالرَّجُلُ قَاعِدٌ فَقَالَ مَنْ صَلَّى قَائِمًا فَهُوَ أَفْضَلُ وَمَنْ صَلَّى قَاعِدًا فَلَهُ نِصْفُ أَجْرِ الْقَائِمِ وَمَنْ صَلَّى نَائِمًا فَلَهُ نِصْفُ أَجْرِ الْقَاعِدِ  

[Machine] "I was a man with many illnesses, so I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about praying while sitting. He said that your prayer while sitting is equivalent to half of your prayer while standing, and the prayer of a person while lying down is equivalent to half of their prayer while sitting."  

كُنْتُ رَجُلًا ذَا أَسَقَامٍ كَثِيرَةٍ فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلَاتِي قَاعِدًا قَالَ صَلَاتُكَ قَاعِدًا عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ صَلَاتِكَ قَائِمًا وَصَلَاةُ الرَّجُلِ مُضْطَجِعًا عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ قَاعِدًا  

‘Imran b. Hussain asked the prophet ﷺ about the prayer a man offers in sitting condition. أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ قَاعِدًا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «صَلِّ قَائِمًا فَهُوَ أَفْضَلُ وَمَنْ صَلَّى قَاعِدًا فَلَهُ نِصْفُ أَجْرِ الْقَائِمِ وَمَنْ صَلَّى نَائِمًا فَلَهُ نِصْفُ أَجْرِ الْقَاعِدِ»  

"صَلاةُ الرجلِ قائِمًا أفضلُ من صَلاتِهِ قَاعِدًا، وصلاتُهُ قاعدًا على النصف من صَلاتِهِ قائِمًا، وصلاتُهُ نائِمًا على النصف من صلاته قاعِدًا".
