[AI] The messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me and I could tell from his face that something had urged him on. He then performed ablution and went out without speaking to anyone. I approached the rooms and heard him saying, "O people, indeed Allah ﷻ says to enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong before you call upon Me, so that I may respond to you, ask of Me so that I may give you, seek My help so that I may assist you."

دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَعَرَفْتُ فِي وَجْهِهِ أَنْ قَدْ حَفَزَهُ شَيْءٌ فَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَلَمْ يُكَلِّمْ أَحَدًا فَدَنَوْتُ مِنَ الْحُجُرَاتِ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يَقُولُ مُرُوا بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَانْهَوْا عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تَدْعُونِي فَلَا أُجِيبُكُمْ وَتَسْأَلُونِي فَلَا أُعْطِيكُمْ وَتَسْتَنْصِرُونِي فَلَا أَنْصُرُكُمْ

[AI] The Prophet (peace be upon him) entered upon me and I recognized on his face that something had happened to him. He performed ablution and did not speak to anyone. Then, he left and I stuck to the room to listen to what he was saying. He sat on the pulpit and praised and glorified Allah. Then, he said, "O people, Allah the Almighty says to you: 'Enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil before you call upon Me and I do not answer you, and you ask me and I do not give to you, and you seek my help and I do not assist you.'" دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَعَرَفْتُ فِي وَجْهِهِ أَنْ قَدْ حَضَرَهُ شَيْءٌ فَتَوَضَّأَ وَمَا كَلَّمَ أَحَدًا ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَلَصِقْتُ بِالْحُجْرَةِ أَسْمَعُ مَا يَقُولُ فَقَعَدَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يَقُولُ لَكُمْ مُرُوا بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَانْهَوْا عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَدْعُونِي فَلَا أُجِيبُكُمْ وَتَسْأَلُونِي فَلَا أُعْطِيكُمْ وَتَسْتَنْصِرُونِي فَلَا أَنْصُرُكُمْ» فَمَا زَادَ عَلَيْهِنَّ حَتَّى نَزَلَ

"أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ اللهَ تَعالى يَقُولُ: مُرُوا بالْمَعْرُوفِ، وانْهَوْا عن المُنْكَر من قَبْل أَنْ تَدعُونِى فَلا أُجِيَبكُمْ، وتَسْألُونِى فَلَا أُعْطِيَكُمْ، وتستغفرونى فَلَا أَغْفِرَ لَكُمْ ".
