He replied, 'Perhaps one of you may lengthen her hand between her parents and become a spinster, so Allah will provide her with a husband, wealth, and children. Then she will become angry and say, 'I have never seen any good from him.' But there was a time when he was the best for her.'

سَمِعْتُ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ يَزِيدَ إِحْدَى نِسَاءِ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ تَقُولُ مَرَّ بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ فِي نِسْوَةٍ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْنَا وَقَالَ إِيَّاكُنَّ وَكُفْرَ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَمَا كُفْرُ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ؟ قَالَ لَعَلَّ إِحْدَاكُنَّ أَنْ تَطُولَ أَيْمَتُهَا بَيْنَ أَبَوَيْهَا وَتَعْنُسَ فَيَرْزُقَهَا اللهُ ﷻ زَوْجًا وَيَرْزُقَهَا مِنْهُ مَالًا وَوَلَدًا فَتَغْضَبَ الْغَضْبَةَ فَتَقُولُ مَا رَأَيْتُ مِنْهُ يَوْمًا خَيْرًا قَطُّ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً خَيْرًا قَطُّ

[AI] I heard Asma bint Yazid Al-Ansariyyah narrating that she claimed that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by the mosque one day while a group of women were sitting there. He extended his hand towards them with a greeting of peace. One of them said, "O Messenger of Allah, I seek refuge with Allah from ingratitude for the favors of Allah." He replied, "Yes, indeed, one of you may have a long life and plenty of wealth and then Allah marries her off to a spouse who is not pleasing to her and gives her children who are not a source of comfort for her, and she becomes angry with great anger and swears by Allah that she has never seen any good from him for even a moment. This is from ingratitude for the favors of Allah, and this is from ingratitude for the blessings bestowed upon her."

سَمِعْتُ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ يَزِيدَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّةَ تُحَدِّثُ زَعَمَتْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ يَوْمًا وَعُصْبَةٌ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ قُعُودٌ فَأَلْوَى بِيَدِهِ إِلَيْهِنَّ بِالسَّلَامِ قَالَ إِيَّاكُنَّ وَكُفْرَانَ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ إِيَّاكُنَّ وَكُفْرَانَ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ قَالَتْ إِحْدَاهُنَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ مِنْ كُفْرَانِ نِعَمِ اللهِ قَالَ بَلَى إِنَّ إِحْدَاكُنَّ تَطُولُأَيْمَتُهَا وَيَطُولُ تَعْنِيسُهَا ثُمَّ يُزَوِّجُهَا اللهُ الْبَعْلَ وَيُفِيدُهَا الْوَلَدَ وَقُرَّةَ الْعَيْنِ ثُمَّ تَغْضَبُ الْغَضْبَةَ فَتُقْسِمُ بِاللهِ مَا رَأَتْ مِنْهُ سَاعَةً خَيْرًا قَطُّ فَذَلِكَ مِنْ كُفْرَانِ نِعَمِ اللهِ ﷻ وَذَلِكَ مِنْ كُفْرَانِ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ

[AI] It is narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ passed by a group of women and greeted them. Then, he said, "Beware of the disbelievers among the Mut'anammimun (a specific group of people)." One of the women asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what is the disbelief of the Mut'anammimun?" He replied, "Perhaps one of you lets her hair grow excessively long or she cuts off ties with her parents. Then, Allah may bless her with a husband and she may bear a child from him. But then, she becomes angry with her husband and disbelieves in him, saying, 'By Allah, I have never seen any good from you.'"

I asked, "What is the ingratitude of those who are well-off?" He said, "Perhaps one of you has a long period of infertility, and then Allah blesses her with a husband and wealth and children. But she becomes angry and denies the blessings, saying, 'I have never seen any good from you.'"

But then she gets angry and in that moment, I swear by Allah, I have never seen any good from her. That is ingratitude towards the blessings of Allah.' And he repeated this three times."

سَمِعْتُ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ يَزِيدَ تَقُولُ دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْمَسْجِدَ يَوْمًا وَعِصَابَةٌ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ قُعُودٌ فَأَلْوَى يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى بِالسَّلَامِ وَتَبَسَّمَ إِلَيْهِنَّ وَقَالَ «إِيَّاكُنَّ وَكُفْرُ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ» فَقَالَتِ امْرَأَةٌ أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مِنْ كُفْرَانِ نِعَمِ اللهِ قَالَ «إِنَّ إِحْدَاكُنَّ يَطُولُ أَيْمَتُهَا ثُمَّ يَرْزُقُهَا اللهُ الْبَعْلَ وَتُفِيدُ الْوَلَدَ وَقُرَّةَ الْعَيْنِ ثُمَّ تَغْضَبُ الْغَضْبَةَ فَتُقْسَمُ بِاللهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ مِنْهُ سَاعَةً خَيْرًا قَطُّ فَذَلِكَ مِنْ كُفْرَانِ نِعَمِ اللهِ وَذَلِكَ مِنْ كُفْرَانِ نِعَمِ اللهِ وَذَلِكَ مِنْ كُفْرَانِ نِعَمِ اللهِ»

I was the boldest among them to ask him, so I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what is the curse of the one who is grateful?" Then she gets angry and disbelieves, saying, 'By Allah, I have never seen any good from you.'"

مَرَّ بِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا فِي جِوَارِ أَتْرَابٍ فَقَالَ «إِيَّاكُنَّ وَكُفْرَ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ» وَكُنْتُ أَجْرَأَ عَلَى مَسْأَلَتِهِ مِنْ غَيْرِي فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَمَا كُفْرُ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ؟ فَقَالَ «لَعَلَّ إِحْدَاكُنَّ يَطُولُ أَيْمَتُهَا عِنْدَ أَبَوَيْهَا ثُمَّ يَرْزُقُهَا اللهُ زَوْجًا وَيَرْزُقُهَا وَلَدًا ثُمَّ تَغْضَبُ فَتَكْفُرُهَا تَقُولُ وَاللهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ مِنْكَ خَيْرًا قَطُّ»

"إِيَّاكُمْ وكُفْرَ المُنْعِمِينَ، قِيلَ وَمَا كُفْرُ المُنْعِمِينَ؟ قَالَ لَعَلَّ إِحْدَكُنَّ أَنْ تَطُولَ أيْمَتُها أوْ تَعْنَسَ عِنْدَ أبَوَيهَا ثُمَّ يَرْزُقهَا اللَّهُ زَوْجًا، ثُمَّ يَرْزُقُهَا اللَّهُ وَلدًا، ثُمَّ تَغْضَبُ الغَضْبَة فَتكْفُرُهُ فَتَقُولُ: وَاللَّهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ مِنْكَ خَيْرًا قَطَّ".

"عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ قَالَتْ: مَرَّ بِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا فِي جَوار أَتْرَابٍ فَقَالَ: إِيَّاكُن وَكُفْرَ المُنْعِمِينَ [وَكُنْتُ أَجْرَأَ عَلَى مَسْأَلَتِهِ مِنْ غَيْرِي] فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسول الله: وما كفر المنعمين؟ قَال: لَعَلَّ إِحْدَاكُنَّ أَنْ يَطولَ أَيمتُهَا عِنْدَ أَبَوَيْهَا، ثُمَّ يَرْزُقُهَا اللهُ - تَعَالَى - زَوْجًا، ثُمَّ يَرْزُقُهَا اللهُ - تَعَالَى - وَلَدًا، ثُمَّ تَغْضَبُ الغَضْبَةَ فَتَكْفُرُهَا، فَتَقُولُ: مَا رَأَيْتُ مِنْكَ خَيْرًا قَطُّ".
