In the life-time of the Prophet, Abu Talha did not fast because of the Jihad, but after the Prophet ﷺ died I never saw him without fasting except on ʿId-ul-Fitr and ʿId-ul-Aclha.
[AI] Abu Talhah used to fast rarely during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . But when the Prophet ﷺ passed away, he would only break his fast while traveling or if he was sick.

[AI] I heard Anas bin Malik say, "Abu Talhah used to not fast during the time of the Prophet ﷺ. After the Prophet ﷺ passed away, I never saw him break his fast except on the day of Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha."
[AI] That Abu Talhah used to fast a lot during the time of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and he did not break his fast until he met Allah except due to illness or travel.
