The Prophet ﷺ said, "Amongst the people preceding your age, there was a man whom Allah had given a lot of money. While he was in his death-bed, he called his sons and said, 'What type of father have I been to you? They replied, 'You have been a good father.' He said, 'I have never done a single good deed; so when I die, burn me, crush my body, and scatter the resulting ashes on a windy day.' His sons did accordingly, but Allah gathered his particles and asked (him), 'What made you do so?' He replied, "Fear of you.' So Allah bestowed His Mercy upon him. (forgave him).

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ رَجُلاً كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ رَغَسَهُ اللَّهُ مَالاً فَقَالَ لِبَنِيهِ لَمَّا حُضِرَ أَىَّ أَبٍ كُنْتُ لَكُمْ قَالُوا خَيْرَ أَبٍ قَالَ فَإِنِّي لَمْ أَعْمَلْ خَيْرًا قَطُّ فَإِذَا مُتُّ فَأَحْرِقُونِي ثُمَّ اسْحَقُونِي ثُمَّ ذَرُّونِي فِي يَوْمٍ عَاصِفٍ فَفَعَلُوا فَجَمَعَهُ اللَّهُ ﷻ فَقَالَ مَا حَمَلَكَ قَالَ مَخَافَتُكَ فَتَلَقَّاهُ بِرَحْمَتِهِ وَقَالَ مُعَاذٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ سَمِعْتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْغَافِرِ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "A man used to do sinful deeds, and when death came to him, he said to his sons, 'After my death, burn me and then crush me, and scatter the powder in the air, for by Allah, if Allah has control over me, He will give me such a punishment as He has never given to anyone else.' When he died, his sons did accordingly. Allah ordered the earth saying, 'Collect what you hold of his particles.' It did so, and behold! There he was (the man) standing. Allah asked (him), 'What made you do what you did?' He replied, 'O my Lord! I was afraid of You.' So Allah forgave him. " Another narrator said "The man said, Fear of You, O Lord!"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُسْرِفُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ فَلَمَّا حَضَرَهُ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ لِبَنِيهِ إِذَا أَنَا مُتُّ فَأَحْرِقُونِي ثُمَّ اطْحَنُونِي ثُمَّ ذَرُّونِي فِي الرِّيحِ فَوَاللَّهِ لَئِنْ قَدَرَ عَلَىَّ رَبِّي لَيُعَذِّبَنِّي عَذَابًا مَا عَذَّبَهُ أَحَدًا فَلَمَّا مَاتَ فُعِلَ بِهِ ذَلِكَ فَأَمَرَ اللَّهُ الأَرْضَ فَقَالَ اجْمَعِي مَا فِيكِ مِنْهُ فَفَعَلَتْ فَإِذَا هُوَ قَائِمٌ فَقَالَ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتَ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ خَشْيَتُكَ فَغَفَرَ لَهُ وَقَالَ غَيْرُهُ مَخَافَتُكَ يَا رَبِّ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "There was a man amongst the people who had suspicion as to the righteousness of his deeds. Therefore he said to his family, 'If I die, take me and burn my corpse and throw my ashes into the sea on a hot (or windy) day.' They did so, but Allah, collected his particles and asked (him), What made you do what you did?' He replied, 'The only thing that made me do it, was that I was afraid of You.' So Allah forgave him."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ كَانَ رَجُلٌ مِمَّنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ يُسِيءُ الظَّنَّ بِعَمَلِهِ فَقَالَ لأَهْلِهِ إِذَا أَنَا مُتُّ فَخُذُونِي فَذَرُّونِي فِي الْبَحْرِ فِي يَوْمٍ صَائِفٍ فَفَعَلُوا بِهِ فَجَمَعَهُ اللَّهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى الَّذِي صَنَعْتَ قَالَ مَا حَمَلَنِي إِلاَّ مَخَافَتُكَ فَغَفَرَ لَهُ

'You must do as I command you to do, otherwise I will make others besides you as my inheritors. As I die, burn my body and blow my ashes in the wind as I do not find any merit of mine which would please Allah, and if Allah were to take hold of me, He would punish me. He took a pledge from them and they did as he commanded thein to do. Allah said: What prompted you to do this? He said: My Lord. Thine fear, and Allah did not punish him at all.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ رَجُلاً فِيمَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ رَاشَهُ اللَّهُ مَالاً وَوَلَدًا فَقَالَ لِوَلَدِهِ لَتَفْعَلُنَّ مَا آمُرُكُمْ بِهِ أَوْ لأُوَلِّيَنَّ مِيرَاثِي غَيْرَكُمْ إِذَا أَنَا مُتُّ فَأَحْرِقُونِي وَأَكْثَرُ عِلْمِي أَنَّهُ قَالَ ثُمَّ اسْحَقُونِي وَاذْرُونِي فِي الرِّيحِ فَإِنِّي لَمْ أَبْتَهِرْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرًا وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يَقْدِرُ عَلَىَّ أَنْ يُعَذِّبَنِي قَالَ فَأَخَذَ مِنْهُمْ مِيثَاقًا فَفَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ بِهِ وَرَبِّي فَقَالَ اللَّهُ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا فَعَلْتَ فَقَالَ مَخَافَتُكَ قَالَ فَمَا تَلاَفَاهُ غَيْرُهَا

"There was a man among those who came before you who thought badly of his deeds, so when death was approaching he said to his family: 'When I am dead, burn my body and grind up my bones, then scatter me in the sea, for if Allah gets hold of me, He will never forgive me.' But Allah commanded the angles to seize his soul. He said to him: 'What made you do what you did?' He said:: 'O Lord, I only did it because I feared You.' So Allah forgave him."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ كَانَ رَجُلٌ مِمَّنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ يُسِيءُ الظَّنَّ بِعَمَلِهِ فَلَمَّا حَضَرَتْهُ الْوَفَاةُ قَالَ لأَهْلِهِ إِذَا أَنَا مُتُّ فَأَحْرِقُونِي ثُمَّ اطْحَنُونِي ثُمَّ اذْرُونِي فِي الْبَحْرِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ إِنْ يَقْدِرْ عَلَىَّ لَمْ يَغْفِرْ لِي قَالَ فَأَمَرَ اللَّهُ ﷻ الْمَلاَئِكَةَ فَتَلَقَّتْ رُوحَهُ قَالَ لَهُ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا فَعَلْتَ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ مَا فَعَلْتُ إِلاَّ مِنْ مَخَافَتِكَ فَغَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ

[AI] A man who never did any good except monotheism. So, when death approached him, he said to his family, "When I die, take me and burn me until you turn me into ashes. Then grind me, and scatter me into the sea on a windy day." He said, "They did that to him." He said, "Then he was in Allah's grip." Allah said to him, "What compelled you to do what you did?" He said, "Out of fear of you." Allah forgave him.

أَنَّ رَجُلًا لَمْ يَعْمَلْ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ شَيْئًا قَطُّ إِلَّا التَّوْحِيدَ فَلَمَّا حَضَرَتْهُ الْوَفَاةُ قَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ إِذَا أَنَا مِتُّ فَخُذُونِيوَاحْرُقُونِي حَتَّى تَدَعُونِي حُمَمَةً ثُمَّ اطْحَنُونِي ثُمَّ اذْرُونِي فِي الْبَحْرِ فِي يَوْمٍ رَاحٍ قَالَ فَفَعَلُوا بِهِ ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَإِذَا هُوَ فِي قَبْضَةِ اللهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ اللهُ ﷻ لَهُ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتَ؟ قَالَ مَخَافَتُكَ قَالَ فَغَفَرَ اللهُ لَهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "A man entered Paradise for the good he had never done before. When death approached him, he said to his family, 'When I die, burn me, then crush me, and scatter half of me in the sea and half on land.' Then Allah commanded the land and the sea to collect his remains. Then He asked, 'What made you do what you did?' He replied, 'Out of fear and awe of You.' Allah forgave him because of this."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَقَدْ دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ الْجَنَّةَ مَا عَمِلَ خَيْرًا قَطُّ قَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ حِينَ حَضَرَهُ الْمَوْتُ إِذَا أَنَا مِتُّ فَأَحْرِقُونِي ثُمَّ اسْحَقُونِي ثُمَّ اذْرُوا نِصْفِي فِي الْبَحْرِ وَنِصْفِي فِي الْبَرِّ فَأَمَرَ اللهُ الْبَرَّ وَالْبَحْرَ فَجَمَعَاهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتَ؟ قَالَ مَخَافَتُكَ قَالَ فَغَفَرَ لَهُ بِذَلِكَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "A man entered Paradise for his deeds and never did any good. أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَقَدْ دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ الْجَنَّةَ مَا عَمِلَ خَيْرًا قَطُّ قَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ حِينَ حَضَرَهُ الْمَوْتُ إِذَا أَنَا مُتُّ فَأَحْرِقُونِي ثُمَّ اسْحَقُونِي ثُمَّ اذْرُوا نِصْفِي فِي الْبَحْرِ وَنِصْفِي فِي الْبَرِّ فَأَمَرَ اللهُ الْبَرَّ وَالْبَحْرَ فَجَمَعَاهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا فَعَلْتَ ؟ قَالَ مَخَافَتُكَ قَالَ فَغُفِرَ لَهُ لِذَلِكَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, a man amongst the people wastes his wealth and offspring, and when death approaches him, he calls his children and asks them, 'What kind of a father have I been to you?' They say, 'You have been a good father.' He says, 'By Allah, I have never gathered any good with Allah.' When he dies, burn him until he becomes charcoal, then crush him into dust and scatter him on a windy day."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ رَجُلًا مِمَّنْ خَلَا مِنَ النَّاسِ رَغَسَهُ اللهُ مَالًا وَوَلَدًا فَلَمَّا حَضَرَهُ الْمَوْتُ دَعا بَنِيهِ فَقَالَ أَيَّ أَبٍ كُنْتُ لَكُمْ؟ قَالُوا خَيْرَ أَبٍ قَالَ فَإِنَّهُ وَاللهِ مَا ابْتَأَرَ عِنْدَ اللهِ خَيْرًا قَطُّ فَإِذَا مَاتَ فَأَحْرِقُوهُ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ فَحْمًا فَاسْحَقُوهُ ثُمَّ أَذْرُوهُ فِي يَوْمٍ يَعْنِي رِيحًا عَاصِفًا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: There was a man from among those before you who used to commit sins. When death approached him, he said to his family: "If I die, burn me, then grind me into powder and scatter me in the sea on a stormy day." When he died, his family did as he had instructed. Then Allah gathered him in His hand and asked him: "What made you do what you did?" He replied: "Out of fear of You." Allah said: "Indeed, I have forgiven you."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ رَجُلٌ مِمَّنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ يَعْمَلُ بِالْمَعَاصِي فَلَمَّا حَضَرَهُ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ إِذَا أَنَا مُتُّ فَأَحْرِقُونِي ثُمَّ اطْحَنُونِي ثُمَّ ذَرُّونِي فِي الْبَحْرِ فِي يَوْمِ رِيحٍ عَاصِفٍ قَالَ فَلَمَّا مَاتَ فَعَلُوا قَالَ فَجَمَعَهُ اللهُ فِي يَدِهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتَ؟ قَالَ خَوْفُكَ قَالَ فَإِنِّي قَدْ غَفَرْتُ لَكَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Among those who came before you, there was a man to whom Allah bestowed wealth and children. When death approached him, he gathered his children and asked them, 'What kind of father was I to you?' They replied, 'You were the best of fathers.' He said, 'By Allah, I have never cherished anything more in the sight of Allah than you. And indeed, your Lord will punish me for it. Now, when I die, burn my body, then crush it, and scatter the ashes into an extremely windy day.' Allah commanded the wind, and when the Day of Resurrection comes and the man is standing, he will be asked, 'What made you do what you did?' He will reply, 'Out of fear of You, O Allah.' And Allah will say, 'By My might and majesty, I have forgiven him.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «كَانَ فِيمَنْ سَلَفَ مِنَ النَّاسِ رَجُلٌ رَغَسَهُ اللَّهُ مَالًا وَوَلَدًا فَلَمَّا حَضَرَهُ الْمَوْتُ جَمَعَ بَنِيهِ فقَالَ أَيَّ أَبٍ كُنْتُ لَكُمْ؟ قَالُوا خَيْرَ أَبٍ فقَالَ إِنَّهُ وَاللَّهِ مَا ابْتَأَرَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرًا قَطُّ وَإِنَّ رَبَّهُ يُعَذِّبُهُ فَإِذَا أَنَا مِتُّ فَأَحْرِقُونِي ثُمَّ اسْحَقُونِي ثُمَّ اذْرُونِي فِي رِيحٍ عَاصِفٍ قَالَ اللَّهُ كُنْ فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ قَائِمٌ قَالَ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتَ؟ قَالَ مَخَافَتُكَ قَالَ فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنْ يَلْقَاهُ غَيْرَ أَنْ غُفِرَ لَهُ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There was a man among those who came before you who never did anything good in the sight of Allah. When he was on his deathbed, he said to his children, 'Oh my children, what kind of father was I to you?' They replied, 'You were the best father.' He then said, 'When I die, burn me and grind me into powder. Then scatter me on a stormy day.' After his death, his requests were carried out. Allah asked him, 'My servant, what made you do what you did?' He replied, 'Out of fear of You, O Lord.' Allah said, 'I have forgiven him for that.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «كَانَ رَجُلٌ فِيمَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ لَمْ يَبْتَئِرْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرًا قَطُّ قَالَ لِبَنِيهِ عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ يَا بَنِيَّ أَيَّ أَبٍ كُنْتُ لَكُمْ؟ قَالُوا خَيْرَ أَبٍ قَالَ فَإِذَا أَنَا مِتُّ فَاحْرَقُونِي واسْحَقُونِي فَإِذَا كَانَ فِي يَوْمِ رِيحٍ عَاصِفٍ فَذُرُّونِي قَالَ فَمَاتَ فَفُعِلَ بِهِ ذَلِكَ فقَالَ لَهُ كُنْ فَكَانَ كَأَسْرَعِ مِنْ طَرْفَةِ الْعَيْنِ فقَالَ اللَّهُ يَا عَبْدِي مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا فَعَلْتَ؟ فقَالَ مَخَافَتُكَ أَيْ رَبِّ قَالَ فَمَا تَلَافَاهُ أَنْ غُفِرَ لَهُ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: Verily, there was a man among those before you whom Allah blessed with wealth and children. He said to his family, "When I die, burn me until I become charcoal, then crush me and scatter me." For indeed, if my Lord is able to do so, He will punish me with a punishment that He has not inflicted upon anyone from the worlds." So they did that, and Allah commanded him to be gathered. So there he was, standing before Allah, and He said, "What caused you to do what you did?" He said, "Out of fear of You, O Lord." So Allah forgave him.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ رَجُلًا مِمَّنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ رَغَسَهُ اللهُ مَالًا وَوَلَدًا فَقَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ إِذَا أَنَا مُتُّ فَأَحْرِقُونِي حَتَّى إِذَا صِرْتُ فَحْمًا فَاسْحَقُونِي ثُمَّ اذْرُونِي فَإِنَّ رَبِّي إِنْ يَقْدِرْ عَلَيَّ يُعَذِّبْنِي عَذَابًا لَا يُعَذِّبُهُ أَحَدًا مِنَ الْعَالَمِينَ فَفَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ فَأَمَرَ اللهُ ﷻ بِهِ فَجُمِعَ فَإِذَا هُوَ قَائِمٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ اللهِ ﷻ فَقَالَ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتَ؟ قَالَ خَشْيَتُكَ أَيْ رَبِّ فَغَفَرَ لَهُ

[AI] A man who had wealth but never did any good with it, when death came to him, he said to his family, "When I die, burn me, then crush my ashes, and scatter me in the wind." This was done to him, and Allah gathered him and said, "What led you to do what you did?" He said, "Out of fear of You." And so, he attained the mercy of Allah.

أَنَّ رَجُلًا كَانَ لَهُ مَالٌ لَمْ يَعْمَلْ فِيهِ خَيْرًا قَطُّ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ بِهِ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ إِذَا أَنَا مُتُّ فَاحْرِقُونِي ثُمَّ اسْحَقُونِي ثُمَّ اذْرُونِي فِي الرِّيحِ فَفُعِلَ ذَلِكَ بِهِ فَجَمَعَهُ اللهُ فَقَالَ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتَ؟ قَالَ مِنْ أَجْلِ مَخَافَتِكَ فَنَالَتْهُ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ

"عَنْ (*) فِيمن سَلَفَ مِنَ النَّاسِ رَجُلٌ رَغَسَهُ الله -تَعَالَى- مَالًا وَوَلَدًا، فَلَمَّا حَضَرهُ الْموتُ جَمَع بَنِيهِ فَقَالَ: أَىُّ أَبٍ كُنْتُ لَكُم؟ قَالُوا خَيْر أَبٍ، فَقَالَ إِنَّه وَالله ما ابتأر عِنْدَ الله خَيْرًا قَطُّ، وإنَّ رَبَّه يُعَذِّبُهُ فَإِذَا أَنَا مِتُّ فَأَحْرِقُونِى ثم اسْحَقُونِى، ثُمَ ذرونِى في رِيحٍ عَاصِف، قَالَ الله: كَنْ فَإِذَا هو رَجُل قَائِمٌ، قَالَ: مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْت؟ قَالَ: مَخَافَتكَ فَوَالَّذِى نَفْسِى بِيَده إن تلقاه غير أن غَفَر لَهُ".
