Ash-'Shuʿbi asked me, "Did you notice how Al-Hasan used to narrate Hadiths from the Prophets? I stayed with Ibn ʿUmar for about two or one-and-half years and I did not hear him narrating any thing from the Prophet ﷺ except his (Hadith): He (Ibn ʿUmar) said, "Some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ including Saʿd, were going to eat meat, but one of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ called them, saying, 'It is the meat of a Mastigure.' The people then stopped eating it. On that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Carry on eating, for it is lawful.' Or said, 'There is no harm in eating it, but it is not from my meals."

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ narrated that once a woman from his wives told him that a lizard had been brought to him, and some of his companions started eating it, including Sa'd. Then, a woman from the wives of the Prophet ﷺ called out to Sa'd, informing him that it was a lizard. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Eat it, there is no harm in it, but it is not the food of my people."

[Machine] Narrated by Ibn Umar, I sat close to him for about two years and I never heard him narrating a Hadith from the Prophet except that one day, some companions of the Messenger of Allah were eating a lizard when a woman from the Prophet's wives called them out, saying that it was a lizard. The people stopped eating it, then the Messenger of Allah said, "Eat, for it is not forbidden nor is there any harm in it. However, it is not a food that my people are used to." Another narration of Abu Zakaria states, "nor is there any harm in it."
