I used to get emotional urethral discharges frequently and felt shy to ask Messenger of Allah ﷺ about it. So I requested Al-Miqdad bin Al-Aswad to ask (the Prophet ﷺ ) about it. Al-Miqdad asked him and he replied, "One has to perform ablution (after it)."

عَلِيٌّ كُنْتُ رَجُلاً مَذَّاءً فَاسْتَحْيَيْتُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَمَرْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ بْنَ الأَسْوَدِ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ «فِيهِ الْوُضُوءُ۔»

I used to get emotional urethral discharge frequently. Being the son-in-law of the Prophet ﷺ I requested a man to ask him about it. So the man asked the Prophet ﷺ about it. The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Perform ablution after washing your organ (penis)."

أَنْ يَسْأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لِمَكَانِ ابْنَتِهِ فَسَأَلَ فَقَالَ تَوَضَّأْ وَاغْسِلْ ذَكَرَكَ

I was one whose prostatic fluid flowed readily and I was ashamed to ask the Apostle ﷺ about it, because of the position of his daughter. I, therefore, asked Miqdad. b. al-Asad and he inquired of him (the Holy Prophet). He (the Holy Prophet) said: He should wash his male organ and perform ablution.

أَنْ أَسْأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لِمَكَانِ ابْنَتِهِ فَأَمَرْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ بْنَ الأَسْوَدِ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ يَغْسِلُ ذَكَرَهُ وَيَتَوَضَّأُ

I felt shy of asking about prostatic fluid from the Apostle ﷺ because of Fatimah. I, therefore, asked al-Miqdad (to ask on my behalf) and he asked. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Ablution is obligatory in such a case.

أَنْ أَسْأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ الْمَذْىِ مِنْ أَجْلِ فَاطِمَةَ فَأَمَرْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ مِنْهُ الْوُضُوءُ

"I felt too shy to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about prostatic fluid because of Fatimah, so I told Al-Miqdad bin Al-Aswad to ask about it, and he (the Prophet ﷺ) said: 'Perform Wudu' for that.'"

أَنْ أَسْأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ الْمَذْىِ مِنْ أَجْلِ فَاطِمَةَ فَأَمَرْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ بْنَ الأَسْوَدِ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ فِيهِ الْوُضُوءُ

"I was one who had a lot of prostatic discharge, so I asked the Prophet ﷺ and he said: 'If you see Madhi (prostatic fluid) then perform Wudu' and wash your penis, but if you see semen ejaculated, then perform Ghusl.'"

كُنْتُ رَجُلاً مَذَّاءً فَسَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَ الْمَذْىَ فَتَوَضَّأْ وَاغْسِلْ ذَكَرَكَ وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ فَضْخَ الْمَاءِ فَاغْتَسِلْ

"I was a man who emotted a great deal of Madhi. I told a man to ask the Prophet ﷺ (about that) and he said: 'Wudu' (is required) for that."

كُنْتُ رَجُلاً مَذَّاءً فَأَمَرْتُ رَجُلاً فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «فِيهِ الْوُضُوءُ»

"I felt too shy to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about Madhi because of Fatimah, so I told Al-Miqdad to ask him, and he said: 'Wudu' (is required) for that.'"

I was a man who emitted a great deal of madhi, and if I emitted madhi I would do ghusl, I told al-Miqdad to ask the Prophet ﷺ about it. He smiled and said: ʿWudoo’ is due for that.”

كُنْتُ رَجُلًا مَذَّاءً فَإِذَا أَمْذَيْتُ اغْتَسَلْتُ فَأَمَرْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَضَحِكَ وَقَالَ فِيهِ الْوُضُوءُ

I was a man who emitted a great deal of madhi, and I told a man to ask the Prophet ﷺ about that. He said: ʿWudoo’ should be done for that.”

قَالَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ كُنْتُ رَجُلًا مَذَّاءً فَأَمَرْتُ رَجُلًا فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ فِيهِ الْوُضُوءُ

I was a man who emitted a great deal of madhi and I felt too shy to ask the Prophet ﷺ [about that] because of his daughter, so I told al-Miqdad to ask him and he said: ʿLet him wash his private part and testicles and do wudoo’.

عَلِيٌّ كُنْتُ رَجُلًا مَذَّاءً وَكُنْتُ أَسْتَحِي أَنْ أَسْأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لِمَكَانِ ابْنَتِهِ فَأَمَرْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ يَغْسِلُ ذَكَرَهُ وَأُنْثَيَيْهِ وَيَتَوَضَّأُ

I was a man who emitted a great deal of madhi, so I asked the Prophet ﷺ and he said: “If you see madhi then do wudoo’ and wash your private part, and if you see water gushing then do ghusl.ʿ I [the narrator] mentioned that to Sufyan and he said: I heard that from Rukain. Muʿawiyah and ibn Abi Bukair told us: Zaʿidah told us: ar-Rukain bin ar-Rabee bin ‘Ameelah al-Fazari told us... And he mentioned a similar report, and they said: water gushing. And Ibn Abu Bukair told us: Zaʿidah told us, and he also said, gushing.

I was a man who emitted a great deal of madhi but I felt too shy to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about it because his daughter was married to me, so I told a man to ask him and he said: ʿFor that, do wudoo’.ʿ

أَنْ أَسْأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لِأَنَّ ابْنَتَهُ كَانَتْ عِنْدِي فَأَمَرْتُ رَجُلًا فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ مِنْهُ الْوُضُوءُ

l felt too shy to ask the Prophet ﷺ about madhi because of Fatimah ؓ , so I told Al-Miqdad bin Al-Aswad and he asked the Prophet ﷺ about that. He said: ʿWudoo’. should be done for that.ʿ

أَنْ أَسْأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ الْمَذْيِ مِنْ أَجْلِ فَاطِمَةَ فَأَمَرْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ بْنَ الْأَسْوَدِ فَسَأَلَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ فِيهِ الْوُضُوءُ

I was a man who emitted a great deal of madhi, but I felt too shy to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ because of his daughter, so I told Al-Miqdad to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about a man who finds madhi. He said: ʿThat is the water of the male, and every male has water, so let him wash his private part and testicles and do wudoo’ as for prayer.ʿ

أَنْ أَسْأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ أَجْلِ ابْنَتِهِ فَأَمَرْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ فَسَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَجِدُ الْمَذْيَ فَقَالَ ذَلِكَ مَاءُ الْفَحْلِ وَلِكُلِّ فَحْلٍ مَاءٌ فَلْيَغْسِلْ ذَكَرَهُ وَأُنْثَيَيْهِ وَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلاةِ

I was a man who emitted a great deal of madhi, so I asked the Prophet ﷺ and he said: “If you see madhi then do wudoo’ and wash your private part, and if you see water gushing then do ghusl.ʿ I [the narrator] mentioned that to Sufyan and he said: I heard that from Rukain. أَنْ أَسْأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَمَرْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ فِيهِ الْوُضُوءُ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ إِلَّا عُبَيْدَةُ

أَنْ أَسْأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَمَرْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ فِيهِ الْوُضُوءُ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ أَسْنَدَ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ أَبِي يَعْلَى إِلَّا هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ

[AI] That I ask the Prophet ﷺ about (the ruling of) vaginal discharge and his daughter was present with me, so I commanded Al-Miqdad to ask him, and he replied, "It requires performing ablution."

أَنْ أَسْأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ الْمَذْي وَكَانَتِ ابْنَتُهُ تَحْتِي فَأَمَرْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ «فِيهِ الْوُضُوءُ»

"I was a man who had a lot of prostatic discharge, and the daughter of the Prophet ﷺ was married to me, so I felt shy to ask him (about that). I said to a man who was sitting beside me: 'Ask him,' so he asked him and he said: 'Perform Wudu' for that.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 152)

قَالَ عَلِيٌّ كُنْتُ رَجُلًا مَذَّاءً وَكَانَتْ بِنْتُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عِنْدِي فَاسْتَحْيَيْتُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ فَقُلْتُ لِرَجُلٍ جَالِسٍ إِلَى جَنْبِي سَلْهُ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ «فِيهِ الْوُضُوءُ»

[AI] I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the situation of his daughter, so I ordered Miqdad ibn Al-Aswad to ask him. He said, "He washes his private parts and performs ablution."

أَنْ أَسْأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لِمَكَانِ ابْنَتِهِ فَأَمَرْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ بْنَ الْأَسْوَدِ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ يَغْسِلُ ذَكَرَهُ وَيَتَوَضَّأُ

[AI] I was a modest man and I had the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with me, so I was too shy to ask him. So, I ordered a man to ask him, and he replied, "If you find that, then wash your private parts and perform ablution."

كُنْتُ رَجُلًا مَذَّاءً وَكَانَ عِنْدِي ابْنَةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَاسْتَحْيَيْتُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ فَأَمَرْتُ رَجُلًا فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ إِذَا وَجَدْتَ ذَلِكَ فَاغْسِلْ ذَكَرَكَ وَتَوَضَّأْ

[AI] I was a shy man, and the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was with me. I felt too ashamed to ask him so I ordered a man to ask him. The man asked him, and he said, "If you experience that, then wash yourself and perform ablution."

كُنْتُ رَجُلًا مَذَّاءً وَكَانَتْ عِنْدِي ابْنَةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَاسْتَحْيَيْتُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ فَأَمَرْتُ رَجُلًا فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ إِذَا وَجَدْتَ ذَلِكَ فَاغْسِلْ ذَكَرَكَ وَتَوَضَّأْ

"عَن عَلِيٍّ قَالَ: كنتُ رَجُلاَ مَذَّاءَ وَكانَتْ تَحْتِى بِنْتُ رَسولِ الله ﷺ فَكنتُ أستَحِى أن أسألَه، فَأمَرْتُ رَجُلًا فَسَألَه فَقالَ: إذا رَأيْتَ المَذْىَ فَتَوضَّأ واغْسِلْ ذَكَرَكَ، وإذَا رَأيتَ فَضْخَ الماءِ فَاغْتَسِل ".
