Zaid bin Thabit said, "When the Qur'an was compiled from various written manuscripts, one of the Verses of Surat Al-Ahzab was missing which I used to hear Messenger of Allah ﷺ reciting. I could not find it except with Khuzaʿima bin Thabjt Al-Ansari, whose witness Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarded as equal to the witness of two men. And the Verse was:-- "Among the believers are men who have been true to what they covenanted with Allah." (33.23)

نَسَخْتُ الصُّحُفَ فِي الْمَصَاحِفِ فَفَقَدْتُ آيَةً مِنْ سُورَةِ الأَحْزَابِ كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ بِهَا فَلَمْ أَجِدْهَا إِلاَّ مَعَ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ الَّذِي جَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ شَهَادَتَهُ شَهَادَةَ رَجُلَيْنِ وَهْوَ قَوْلُهُ {مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ}

When we wrote the Holy Qur'an, I missed one of the Verses of Surat-al-Ahzab which I used to hear Messenger of Allah ﷺ reciting. Then we searched for it and found it with Khuzaʿima bin Thabit Al-Ansari. The Verse was:-- 'Among the Believers are men Who have been true to Their Covenant with Allah, Of them, some have fulfilled Their obligations to Allah (i.e. they have been Killed in Allah's Cause), And some of them are (still) waiting" (33.23) So we wrote this in its place in the Qur'an.

أَسْمَعُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ بِهَا فَالْتَمَسْنَاهَا فَوَجَدْنَاهَا مَعَ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ {مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ قَضَى نَحْبَهُ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَنْتَظِرُ } فَأَلْحَقْنَاهَا فِي سُورَتِهَا فِي الْمُصْحَفِ

When we collected the fragramentary manuscripts of the Qur'an into copies, I missed one of the Verses of Surat al-Ahzab which I used to hear Messenger of Allah ﷺ reading. Finally I did not find it with anybody except Khuzaʿima Al-Ansari, whose witness was considered by Messenger of Allah ﷺ equal to the witness of two men. (And that Verse was:) 'Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah.'

لَمَّا نَسَخْنَا الصُّحُفَ فِي الْمَصَاحِفِ فَقَدْتُ آيَةً مِنْ سُورَةِ الأَحْزَابِ كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَؤُهَا لَمْ أَجِدْهَا مَعَ أَحَدٍ إِلاَّ مَعَ خُزَيْمَةَ الأَنْصَارِيِّ الَّذِي جَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ شَهَادَتَهُ شَهَادَةَ رَجُلَيْنِ {مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ}

'Among the Believers are men who have been true in their covenant with Allah.' (33.23)

فَقَدْتُ آيَةً مِنَ الأَحْزَابِ حِينَ نَسَخْنَا الْمُصْحَفَ قَدْ كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ بِهَا فَالْتَمَسْنَاهَا فَوَجَدْنَاهَا مَعَ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ {مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ} فَأَلْحَقْنَاهَا فِي سُورَتِهَا فِي الْمُصْحَفِ

[AI] "When we made copies of the Qur'an, a verse from Surah Al-Ahzab was lost. I used to hear the Prophet ﷺ recite it, so I searched for it but couldn't find it with anyone except Khuzayma ibn Thabit, the Ansari, who the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made his testimony equal to that of two men. The verse is the saying of Allah ﷻ {Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah} [Al-Ahzab 23]."

لَمَّا نَسَخْنَا الْمَصَاحِفَ فُقِدَتْ آيَةٌ مِنْ سُورَةِ الْأَحْزَابِ قَدْ كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ بِهَا فَالْتَمَسْتُهَا فَلَمْ أَجِدْهَا مَعَ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا مَعَ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ الَّذِي جَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ شَهَادَتَهُ شَهَادَةَ رَجُلَيْنِ قَوْلُ اللهِ ﷻ{مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللهَ عَلَيْهِ} [الأحزاب 23]

[AI] When the Qur'ans were written, I lost a verse that I used to hear from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . I found it with Khuzaymah al-Ansari from the believers, who said, "Men who have fulfilled their covenant with Allah." [Quran 33:23] until "for another." [Quran 33:23] Khuzaymah, also known as Dhu al-Shahadatayn, was granted the testimony of his testimony by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with the testimony of two men. Al-Zuhri said that he was killed on the day of Siffin along with Ali.

لَمَّا كُتِبَتِ الْمَصَاحِفُ فَقَدْتُ آيَةً كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُهَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَوَجَدْتُهَا عِنْدَ خُزَيْمَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ {مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللهَ عَلَيْهِ} [الأحزاب 23] إِلَى {تَبْدِيلًا} [الأحزاب 23] قَالَ فَكَانَ خُزَيْمَةُ يُدْعَى ذَا الشَّهَادَتَيْنِ أَجَازَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ شَهَادَتَهُ بِشَهَادَةِ رَجُلَيْنِ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ وَقُتِلَ يَوْمَ صِفِّينَ مَعَ عَلِيٍّ

[AI] "I used to hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reciting this verse, so I sought it and found it with Khuzaimah ibn Thabit al-Ansari, 'Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah.' So I attached it to its Surah in the Mus'haf."

أَسْمَعُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَؤُهَا فَالْتَمَسْتُهَا فَوَجَدْتُهَا مَعَ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ {مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ} فَأَلْحَقْتُهَا فِي سُورَتِهَا فِي الْمُصْحَفِ»

[AI] Zaid bin Thabit, when we were writing the Mus'haf, I lost a verse that I used to hear from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . So, I found it with Khuzaymah bin Thabit al-Ansari, "Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah; of them, some have fulfilled their obligations and some are still waiting, but they have never changed their determination." He (Zaid bin Thabit) said, "Khuzaymah was known as 'Dhul-Shahadatayn' (possessing two testimonies)."

زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ لَمَّا كَتَبْنَا الْمَصَاحِفَ فَقَدْتُ آيَةً كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُهَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَوَجَدْتُهَا عِنْدَ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ {مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللهَ عَلَيْهِ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ قَضَى نَحْبَهُ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَنْتَظِرُ وَمَا بَدَّلُوا تَبْدِيلًا} قَالَ «وَكَانَ خُزَيْمَةُ يُدْعَى ذُو الشَّهَادَتَيْنِ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) recite it, so I sought it and found it with Khuzaymah ibn Thabit al-Ansari: "Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah." So I added it to its Surah in the Mushaf.

فَقَدْتُ آيَةً مِنْ سُورَةِ الْأَحْزَابِ حِينَ نَسَخْنَا الْمُصْحَفَ كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَؤُهَا فَوَجَدْتُهَا مَعَ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ {مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللهَ عَلَيْهِ} [الأحزاب 23] فَأَلْحَقْتُهَا فِي سُورَتِهَا فِي الْمُصْحَفِ

"عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ؟ فَقَدتُ آيَةً كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُهَا مِنْ رَسُولِ الله ﷺ لَمَّا كُتِبَ الْمَصَاحِفُ فَوَجَدتُّهَا مَعَ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، وَكَانَ خُزيْمَةُ يُدْعَى ذَا الشَّهَادَتَيْنِ: {مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ ... } الآية".
