It was narrated from Ubayy bin Ka’b that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray Witr and he would recite Qunut before Ruku’.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُوتِرُ فَيَقْنُتُ قَبْلَ الرُّكُوعِ

He was asked about Qunut in the Subh prayer, and he said: “We used to recite Qunut before Ruku’ and afterwards.”

كُنَّا نَقْنُتُ قَبْلَ الرُّكُوعِ وَبَعْدَهُ

[AI] "That the Prophet ﷺ stayed in prostration for a while after the bowing."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَنَتَ شَهْرًا بَعْدَ الرُّكُوعِ

[AI] That the Prophet ﷺ prolonged his prostration after bowing for a month.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَنَتَ شَهْرًا بَعْدَ الرُّكُوعِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ supplicated for a month after the bowing.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَنَتَ شَهْرًا بَعْدَ الرُّكُوعِ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from Abdullah ibn Umar that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to go to Quba (to pray), he would walk as well as ride.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَأْتِي قُبَاءً رَاكِبًا وَمَاشِيًا

[AI] Abdullah used to not perform the morning prayer regularly, and when he did, he would perform the Witr prayer before the last unit.

«كَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ لَا يَقْنُتُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ وَإِذَا قَنَتَ فِي الْوِتْرِ قَنَتَ قَبْلَ الرَّكْعَةِ»

[AI] Abdullah used to not pray the Fajr prayer regularly, but when he did, he would pray the Witr prayer before the Rak'ah.

«كَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ لَا يَقْنُتُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ وَإِذَا قَنَتَ فِي الْوِتْرِ قَنَتَ قَبْلَ الرَّكْعَةِ»

[AI] He used to offer voluntary prayers before the bowing (rak'ahs) in a prayer, but he did not offer voluntary prayers before the morning prayer.

أَنَّهُ «كَانَ يَقْنُتُ فِي الْوِتْرِ قَبْلَ الرُّكُوعِ وَلَا يَقْنُتُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ»

[AI] He used to supplicate after the bowing.

أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْنُتُ بَعْدَ الرُّكُوعِ

[AI] That Ali used to engage in optional prayer (witr) after the bowing (rak'ah)

أَنَّ عَلِيًّا ؓ كَانَ يَقْنُتُ فِي الْوِتْرِ بَعْدَ الرُّكُوعِ

"عن الأسودِ بن يَزِيدَ: أَنَّ عُمَرَ قَنتَ فِى الْوِتْرِ قَبْلَ الرُّكُوعِ".

"عن أبى عبد الرحمنِ السُّلَميّ: أنَّ عليّا كانَ يقنتُ فِى الوترِ بعدَ الركوعِ".
