" عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيرٍ قَالَ: سَألْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ عَنْ نَبِيذ الْجَرِّ فَقَالَ: حَرَام، فَأخْبَرْتُ بذَلِكَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، فَقَالَ: صَدَقَ؛ ذَلِكَ مَا حَرَّم الله وَرسُولُهُ، فَقُلْتُ: وَمَا الْجَرُّ؟ قَالَ: كُلُّ شَىْءٍ مِنْ مَدَرٍ".

I said: 'I asked Ibn 'Umar about Nabidh made in an earthenware jar and he said: The Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade it.' He said: 'Ibn 'Umar spoke the truth.' I said: 'What is an earthenware jar?' He said: 'Anything that is made of clay.'"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited the drinking of wine. He said, "I went to Abdullah ibn Abbas and informed him. He said, 'Ibn Umar is telling the truth.' I asked, 'What is wine?' He said, 'Anything made from grapes.'"

حَرَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ نَبِيذَ الْجَرِّ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَقَالَ صَدَقَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَ قُلْتُ مَا الْجَرُّ؟ قَالَ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ يُصْنَعُ مِنَ الْمَدَرِ

[Machine] About the wine, the Prophet ﷺ said, "That is one of the things which Allah and His Messenger ﷺ have forbidden." So I went to Ibn Abbas and said to him, "Indeed, Ibn Umar was asked about wine and he said, 'That is one of the things which Allah and His Messenger ﷺ have forbidden.'" Ibn Abbas confirmed and said, "He was right." Then I asked him, "What is 'jar'?" He replied, "Anything that intoxicates."
