"'Umar bin 'Abdul-'Aziz summoned me so I got a ride on a mule." [He said:] "When he entered upon him, he said: 'O Commander of the Believers! My riding mule was troublesome for me.' So he said: 'O Abu Sallam!I did not want to trouble you, but a Hadith which you narrated-from Thawban, from the Prophet ﷺ about the Hawd-was conveyed to me,and I wanted you to narrate it directly to me."'Abu Sallam said: "Thawban narrated to me from The Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said 'My Hawd (is as large as) from 'Adan to 'Amman of Al-Balqa', its water is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. Its cups are as numerous as the stars, whoever drinks one drink from it, he will never be thirsty after that again. The first people to arrive at it are the poor among the Muhajirin with disheveled heads, dirty clothes, those whom the women of favor would not marry, nor would the doors be open for them.' 'Umar said: 'But I have married a women of favor and the doors are open for me. I married Fatimah bint 'Abdul-Malik. I shall certainly not wash my head until it is disheveled, nor wash my garment which touches my body until it becomes dirty." Another chain reports a similar narration.

يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَقَدْ شَقَّ عَلَى مَرْكَبِي الْبَرِيدُ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا سَلاَّمٍ مَا أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَيْكَ وَلَكِنْ بَلَغَنِي عَنْكَ حَدِيثٌ تُحَدِّثُهُ عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي الْحَوْضِ فَأَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ تُشَافِهَنِي بِهِ قَالَ أَبُو سَلاَّمٍ حَدَّثَنِي ثَوْبَانُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ حَوْضِي مِنْ عَدَنَ إِلَى عَمَّانَ الْبَلْقَاءِ مَاؤُهُ أَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ اللَّبَنِ وَأَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ وَأَكَاوِيبُهُ عَدَدُ نُجُومِ السَّمَاءِ مَنْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ شَرْبَةً لَمْ يَظْمَأْ بَعْدَهَا أَبَدًا أَوَّلُ النَّاسِ وُرُودًا عَلَيْهِ فُقَرَاءُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ الشُّعْثُ رُءُوسًا الدُّنْسُ ثِيَابًا الَّذِينَ لاَ يَنْكِحُونَ الْمُتَنَعِّمَاتِ وَلاَ تُفْتَحُ لَهُمُ السُّدَدُ قَالَ عُمَرُ لَكِنِّي نَكَحْتُ الْمُتَنَعِّمَاتِ وَفُتِحَ لِيَ السُّدَدُ وَنَكَحْتُ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ لاَ جَرَمَ أَنِّي لاَ أَغْسِلُ رَأْسِي حَتَّى يَشْعَثَ وَلاَ أَغْسِلُ ثَوْبِي الَّذِي يَلِي جَسَدِي حَتَّى يَتَّسِخَ

“Umar bin ‘Abdul-‘Aziz sent for me and I came to him upon the riding animal prepared for swift mail delivery. When I came to him, he said: ‘We have caused you some trouble O Abu Sallam.’ He said: ‘Yes, by Allah, O Commander of the Believers!’ He said: ‘By Allah, we did not want to cause you any hardship, but there is a Hadith which I have heard that you narrate from Thawban, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, concerning the Cistern, and I wanted to hear it directly from you.’ He said: “I said: ‘Thawban, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, told me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “My Cistern is (wider than) the distance between Ailah and ‘Aden. It is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey, and its cups are as many as the stars in the sky. Whoever drinks from it will never feel thirst again. The first ones who come to drink from it will be the poor Muhajirin, with dirty clothes and disheveled hair, who do not marry refined women and for whom no doors are opened.” ‘Umar wept until his beard became wet, then he said: ‘But I have married refined women and doors have been opened for me. Certainly I will not wash the clothes that are on my body until they become dirt, and I will not comb my hair until it becomes disheveled.’”

لَقَدْ شَقَقْنَا عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا سَلاَّمٍ فِي مَرْكَبِكَ قَالَ أَجَلْ وَاللَّهِ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالَ وَاللَّهِ مَا أَرَدْتُ الْمَشَقَّةَ عَلَيْكَ وَلَكِنْ حَدِيثٌ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكَ تُحَدِّثُ بِهِ عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الْحَوْضِ فَأَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ تُشَافِهَنِي بِهِ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ حَدَّثَنِي ثَوْبَانُ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ حَوْضِي مَا بَيْنَ عَدَنَ إِلَى أَيْلَةَ أَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ اللَّبَنِ وَأَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ أَوَانِيهِ كَعَدَدِ نُجُومِ السَّمَاءِ مَنْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ شَرْبَةً لَمْ يَظْمَأْ بَعْدَهَا أَبَدًا وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ يَرِدُهُ عَلَىَّ فُقَرَاءُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ الدُّنْسُ ثِيَابًا وَالشُّعْثُ رُءُوسًا الَّذِينَ لاَ يَنْكِحُونَ الْمُنَعَّمَاتِ وَلاَ يُفْتَحُ لَهُمُ السُّدَدُ قَالَ فَبَكَى عُمَرُ حَتَّى اخْضَلَّتْ لِحْيَتُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَكِنِّي قَدْ نَكَحْتُ الْمُنَعَّمَاتِ وَفُتِحَتْ لِيَ السُّدَدُ لاَ جَرَمَ أَنِّي لاَ أَغْسِلُ ثَوْبِي الَّذِي عَلَى جَسَدِي حَتَّى يَتَّسِخَ وَلاَ أَدْهُنُ رَأْسِي حَتَّى يَشْعَثَ

[AI] "He heard him saying that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'My pond is as vast as the distance between Aden and 'Amman. Its water is cooler than ice, sweeter than honey, and its fragrance is more pleasant than musk. Its cups are like the stars in the sky. Whoever drinks from it will never be thirsty thereafter. The first to drink from it will be the first among the people to enter Paradise.' A man asked, 'Who are they, O Messenger of Allah?' He replied, 'They are those whose heads are disheveled, faces are dusty, and clothes are torn. They are not given preference over others, nor do they marry those who are rich. They are those who give away everything they have, even if they are in need.'"

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ حَوْضِي كَمَا بَيْنَ عَدَنَ وَعَمَّانَ أَبْرَدُ مِنَ الثَّلْجِ وَأَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ وَأَطْيَبُ رِيحًا مِنَ الْمِسْكِ أَكْوَابُهُ مِثْلُ نُجُومِ السَّمَاءِ مَنْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ شَرْبَةً لَمْ يَظْمَأْ بَعْدَهَا أَبَدًا أَوَّلُ النَّاسِ عَلَيْهِ وُرُودًاصَعَالِيكُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ قَالَ قَائِلٌ وَمَنْ هُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ الشَّعِثَةُ رُءُوسُهُمْ الشَّحِبَةُ وُجُوهُهُمْ الدَّنِسَةُ ثِيَابُهُمْ لَا يُفْتَحُ لَهُمُ السُّدَدُ وَلَا يَنْكِحُونَ الْمُتَنَعِّمَاتِ الَّذِينَ يُعْطُونَ كُلَّ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا يَأْخُذُونَ الَّذِي لَهُمْ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Indeed, my pond extends from Aden to 'Amman al-Balqa. Its water is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. Its cups are as numerous as the stars. Whoever drinks from it will never be thirsty again. The first to drink from it will be the needy of the immigrants." 'Umar ibn al-Khattab asked, "Who are they, O Messenger of Allah?" He ﷺ said, "They are the ones with disheveled hair, dirty garments. They do not marry refined women and the doors of the rich are not opened for them." 'Umar ibn 'Abdul Aziz said, "I have indeed married refined women and the doors of the rich have been opened for me, except that Allah have mercy on me. By Allah, I will not oil my hair until it becomes disheveled, nor will I wash my clothes that are next to my body until they become dirty."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ حَوْضِي مِنْ عَدَنَ إِلَى عَمَّانَ الْبَلْقَاءِ مَاؤُهُ أَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ اللَّبَنِ وَأَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ وَأَكَاوِيبُهُ عَدَدُ النُّجُومِ مَنْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ شَرْبَةً لَمْ يَظْمَأْ بَعْدَهَا أَبَدًا أَوَّلُ النَّاسِ وُرُودًا عَلَيْهِ فُقَرَاءُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ مَنْ هُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ هُمُ الشُّعْثُ رُءُوسًا الدُّنْسُثِيَابًا الَّذِينَ لَا يَنْكِحُونَ الْمُتَنَعِّمَاتِ وَلَا تُفْتَحُ لَهُمْ أَبْوَابُ السُّدَدِ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ لَقَدْ نَكَحْتُ الْمُتَنَعِّمَاتِ وَفُتِحَتْ لِي السُّدَدُ إِلَّا أَنْ يَرْحَمَنِي اللهُ وَاللهِ لَا جَرَمَ أَنْ لَا أَدْهُنَ رَأْسِي حَتَّى يَشْعَثَ وَلَا أَغْسِلَ ثَوْبِي الَّذِي يَلِي جَسَدِي حَتَّى يَتَّسِخَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The distance between my fountain (in Paradise) and the Ka'bah is like the distance between 'Ayla and Mudar. Its vessels are more numerous, or he said, equal to the number of stars in the sky. Its water is sweeter than honey, whiter than milk, cooler than snow, and its fragrance is more pleasant than musk. Whoever drinks from it will never be thirsty again."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ بَيْنَ حَوْضِي كَمَا بَيْنَ أَيْلَةَ وَمُضَرَ آنِيَتُهُ أَكْثَرُ أَوْ قَالَ مِثْلُ عَدَدِ نُجُومِ السَّمَاءِ مَاؤُهُ أَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ وَأَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ اللَّبَنِ وَأَبْرَدُ مِنَ الثَّلْجِ وَأَطْيَبُ رِيحًا مِنَ الْمِسْكِ مَنْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ لَمْ يَظْمَأْ بَعْدَهُ

[AI] He said, "The distance between the two ends of the Prophet's pond is like the distance between Ayla and Egypt. Its vessels are more numerous or equal to the number of stars in the sky. Its water is sweeter than honey, whiter than milk, colder than snow, and its fragrance is more pleasant than musk. Whoever drinks from it will never be thirsty again."

أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَا بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْ حَوْضِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ كَمَا بَيْنَ أَيْلَةَ وَمِصْرَ آنِيَتُهُ أَكْثَرُ أَوْ مِثْلُ عَدَدِ نُجُومِ السَّمَاءِ مَاؤُهُ أَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ وَأَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ اللَّبَنِ وَأَبْرَدُ مِنَ الثَّلْجِ وَأَطْيَبُ رِيحًا مِنَ الْمِسْكِ مَنْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ لَمْ يَظْمَأْ بَعْدَهُ أَبَدًا

فَلَمَّا انْتَهَى إِلَيْهِ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ سَلَّمَ وَقَالَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَقَدْ شَقَّ عَلَى رِجْلِي مَرْكَبِي مِنَ الْبَرِيدِ قَالَ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ كَالْمُتَوَجِّعِ مَا أَرَدْنَا الْمَشَقَّةَ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا سَلَّامٍ وَلَكِنْ بَلَغَنِي حَدِيثٌ تُحَدِّثُهُ عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ عَنْ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الْحَوْضِ فَأَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ تُشَافِهَنِي بِهِ مُشَافَهَةً قَالَ أَبُو سَلَّامٍ سَمِعْتُ ثَوْبَانَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «حَوْضِي مَا بَيْنَ عَدَنٍ إِلَى عُمَانَ الْبَلْقَاءِ مَاؤُهُ أَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ اللَّبَنِ وَأَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ وَأَكْوَابُهُ عَدَدُ النُّجُومِ مَنْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ شَرْبَةً لَمْ يَظْمَأْ بَعْدَهَا أَبَدًا أَوَّلُ النَّاسِ وُرُودًا عَلَيْهِ فُقَرَاءُ الْمُهَاجِرِينِ الشُّعْثُ رُءُوسًا الدُّنْسُ ثِيَابًا الَّذِينَ لَا يَنْكِحُونَ الْمُنَعَّمَاتِ وَلَا تُفْتَحُ لَهُمُ السُّدَدُ» قَالَ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ «لَكِنِّي قَدْ نَكَحْتُ الْمُنَعَّمَاتِ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ وَفُتِحَتْ لِي السُّدَدُ لَا جَرَمَ أَنِّي لَا أَغْسِلُ رَأْسِي حَتَّى يَشْعَثَ وَلَا ثَوْبِيَ الَّذِي يَلِي جَسَدِي حَتَّى يَتَّسِخَ»

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَا بَيْنَ نَاحِيَتَيْ حَوْضِي مَا بَيْنَ أَيْلَةَ وَمُضَرَ أَوْ أَكْثَرُ آنِيَتُهُ عَدَدُ أَوْ مِثْلُ عَدَدِ نُجُومِ السَّمَاءِ أَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ وَأَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ اللَّبَنِ وَأَطْيَبُ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ مَنْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ شَرْبَةً لَمْ يَظْمَأْ بَعْدَهَا أَبَدًا وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ إِلَّا بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ

قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا آنِيَةُ الْحَوْضِ ؟ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَآنِيَتُهُ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ عَدَدِ نُجُومِ السَّمَاءِ فِي اللَّيْلَةِ الْمُصْحِيَةِ مَنْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ شَرْبَةً لَمْ يَظْمَأْ آخِرُ مَا عَلَيْهِ يَشْخَبُ فِيهِ مِيزَابَانِ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ عَرْضُهُ مِثْلُ طُولِهِ مَا بَيْنَ عُمَانَ إِلَى أَيْلَةَ مَاؤُهُ أَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ اللَّبَنِ وَأَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَنْ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ إِلَّا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ وَلَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ ﷺ حَوْضِي مِنْ عَدَنَ إِلَى عَمَّانَ الْبَلْقَاءِ مَاؤُهُ أَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ وَأَطْيَبُ مِنَ الْمِسْكِ وَأَبْيَضُ مِنَ اللَّبَنِ آنِيَتُهُ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ عَدَدِ نُجُومِ السَّمَاءِ مَنْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ شَرْبَةً لَمْ يَظْمَأْ بَعْدَهَا أَبَدًا قِيلَ يَا رَسولَ اللهِ مَنْ أَوَّلُ النَّاسِ وُرُودًا عَلَيْكَ أَوْ عليه فقال المهاجرون الشعث رؤسا الدنس ثيابا الذين لا ينكحون المتمنعمات ولاَ تُفْتَحُ لَهُمُ السُّدَدُ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى عَن رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِوَجْهٍ مِنَ الْوُجُوهِ مُتَّصِلا بِهَذَا اللَّفْظِ إلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ مُحَمد بْنُ مُهَاجِرٍ ثِقَةٌ وَالْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ لَيْسَ بِهِ بَأْسٌ وَأبُو سَلامٍ مشهور

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ ﷺ حوضي من كذا إلى كذا فيه من الآنية عدد النجوم أطيب ريحا من المسك وأحلى من العسل وأبرد من الثلج وأبيض من اللبن من شرب منه شربة لم يظمأ أبدا وَمَنْ لم يشرب منه لم يرو أَبَدًا وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لاَ نعلمُهُ يُرْوَى بِهَذَا اللَّفْظِ إلاَّ عَنْ أَنَسٍ بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ولاَ نعلمُ أسند عَدِيّ بن ثَابِتٍ عَن أَنَس إلاَّ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ ولاَ رَواه عنه إلاَّ المسعودي عثمان بن عمير

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "My pool between Eden and Oman has water that is whiter than snow, sweeter than honey, and there are many roses upon it for the poor among the immigrants." It was asked, "O Messenger of Allah, who are the poor among the immigrants?" He said, "They are those with disheveled hair, soiled clothes, those who do not marry out of self-restraint, and those who are not given access to the resources they deserve but give others their rights without receiving theirs."

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «حَوْضِي مَا بَيْنَ عَدْنٍ إِلَى عُمَانَ مَاؤُهُ أَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ الثَّلْجِ وَأَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ وَأَكْثَرُ وُرُودًا عَلَيْهِ فُقَرَاءُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ» قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَمَنْ فُقَرَاءُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ؟ قَالَ «الشُّعْثُ رُءُوسًا الدَّنَسُ ثِيَابًا الَّذِينَ لَا يَنْكِحُونَ الْمُتَمَنِّعاتِ وَلَا يُفْتَحُ لَهُمْ بَابُ السُّدَدِ الَّذِينَ يُعْطُونَ الْحَقَّ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا يُعْطُونَ الَّذِي لَهُمْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, my pool is between Aden and Oman, its cups are the number of stars, and its water is whiter than snow and sweeter than honey. The first to drink from it will be the poor among the emigrants." We asked, "O Messenger of Allah, describe them to us." He said, "They are those with disheveled hair and dirty clothes, who do not marry those who refuse and are not given access to the doors of the generous ones. They give what is upon them but are not given what is for them."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ حَوْضِي مَا بَيْنَ عَدْنٍ إِلَى عُمَانَ أَكْوَابُهُ عَدَدُ النُّجُومِ وَمَاؤُهُ أَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ الثَّلْجِ وَأَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ أَوَّلُ مَنْ يَرِدُهُ فُقَرَاءُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ» قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صِفْهُمْ لَنَا قَالَ «شُعْثُ الرُّءُوسِ دَنَسُ الثِّيَابِ الَّذِينَ لَا يَنْكِحُونَ الْمُتَمَنِّعَاتِ وَلَا تُفْتَحُ لَهُمْ أَبْوَابُ السُّدَدِ الَّذِينَ يُعْطُونَ مَا عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا يُعْطُونَ مَا لَهُمْ»

[AI] "From the Prophet ﷺ, he said, 'My pond is as large as the distance between 'Adn and 'Uman, and in it are water vessels as numerous as the stars in the sky. Whoever drinks from it will never feel thirsty again. Among those who will come to me from my Ummah are those with disheveled hair and dirty clothes. They do not marry the luxurious, nor do they frequent the rulers, meaning those who are given everything but do not give everything they have.'"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «حَوْضِي كَمَا بَيْنَ عَدْنَ وَعُمَانَ فِيهِ الْأَكَاوِيبُ عَدَدُ نُجُومِ السَّمَاءِ مَنْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ لَمْ يَظْمَأْ بَعْدَهُ أَبَدًا وَإِنَّ مِمَّنْ يَرِدُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أُمَّتِي الشَّعِثَةُ رُءوسُهُمِ الدَّنِسَةُ ثِيَابُهُمْ لَا يَنْكِحُونَ الْمُتَنَعِّمَاتِ وَلَا يَحْضُرُونَ السُّدَدَ يَعْنِي أَبْوَابَ السُّلْطَانِ الَّذِينَ يُعْطُونَ كُلَّ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا يُعْطَوْنَ كُلَّ الَّذِي لَهُمْ»

"إِنَّ حَوْضِى من عَدَنَ إِلى عَمَّانَ الْبلْقَاءَ، ماؤُهُ أَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا منَ

الَّلبَنِ، وأَحلِى مِنَ العَسَل، أَكَاويبُه عدَدُ النجوم، منْ شَرب منه شربةً لم يظمأ بعدها أَبدًا، أَوَّلُ النَّاسِ وُرُودًا عليه فُقَراءُ المهاجرين الشُّعْثُ رُؤُوسًا، الدُّنْسُ ثيابًا، الذين لا يَنْكحُونَ الْمُتَمَنِّعَاتِ، ولا تُفْتَحُ لهم السُّدُدُ، الذين يُعْطُونَ الحقَّ الذى عليهم، ولا يُعْطَوْن الذى لهم ".

"حوْضِى كما بينَ عَدَنَ وعُمَانَ، فيه أَكاويب عددُ نجومِ السماءِ من شرب منه لم يظمأ بعدهُ أَبدًا، وإِن مِمَّن يردُ علىَّ من أَمتى الشَّعِثَة رُءُوسُهم الدُّنسة ثيابُهُمْ، لا ينكِحُون المتُنعِّمات ولا يحضرون السدد -يعنى أَبواب السُّلطان- الذين يُعْطُون كل الذى عليهم، ولا يُعطَون كلَّ الذى لهم".

"حَوْضِى ما بين عَدَنَ وعُمَانَ، أَبْرَدُ من الثلجِ، وَأَحلى من العسل، وَأَطيبُ ريحًا منَ المِسْكِ، أَكَاويبه مثلُ نجومِ السماءِ، من شرِبَ منْه شَرْبةُ لم يَظمَأُ بعدَهَا أَبدًا، أَوَّلُ النَّاسِ وُرُودًا عليه صَعَاليكُ المهاجرينَ، الشَّعِثَةُ رُءوسُهُمْ، الشحِبَةُ وجوهُهُم، الدنِسَةُ ثِيَابُهُم، الذينَ لا تُفْتحُ لَهُمُ السُّدَدُ، ولا ينكِحونَ المُتَنَعِّمَات، الذين يُعْطُون كُلَّ الَّذِى عَليهِمْ، وَلَا يَأخُذُونَ الذِى لهُمْ".

"حَوْضِى كَمَا بينَ أَيلةَ ومُضَرَ، آنيته أَكثر (أَو قال) مثْلُ نجومِ السماءِ، ماؤُها أحْلَى مِنَ العَسَلِ، وأَشدُّ بياضًا مِنَ اللبنِ، وأبردُ من الثلج، وأطيب رائحةً من المسكِ، من شرِبَ منهُ لم يظمأ بَعْدهُ".
