from the Prophet ﷺ who said: "Signs of the hypocrite is three: (1) when he speaks, he lies; (2) when he makes a promise, he breaks it; and (3) when he is entrusted, he betrays."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ: «آيَةُ الْمُنَافِقِ ثَلاَثٌ: (١) إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ، (٢) وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ، (٣) وَإِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ».

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever has the following four (characteristics) will be a pure hypocrite and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy unless and until he gives it up. 1. Whenever he is entrusted, he betrays. 2. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie. 3. Whenever he makes a covenant, he proves treacherous. 4. Whenever he quarrels, he behaves in a very imprudent, evil and insulting manner."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ أَرْبَعٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ كَانَ مُنَافِقًا خَالِصًا وَمَنْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنَ النِّفَاقِ حَتَّى يَدَعَهَا إِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ وَإِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا عَاهَدَ غَدَرَ وَإِذَا خَاصَمَ فَجَرَ

from the Prophet ﷺ said: “There are four traits, whoever has them is a hypocrite,” or “whoever has one of the four has a trait of hypocrisy until he gives it up: (1) when he speaks, he lies; (2) when he makes a promise, he breaks it; (3) when he makes a covenant, he betrays it; and (4) when he disputes, he behaves wickedly.”

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ: «أَرْبَعٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ كَانَ مُنَافِقًا» أَوْ «كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنْ أَرْبَعَةٍ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنَ النِّفَاقِ حَتَّى يَدَعَهَا: (١) إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ، (٢) وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ، (٣) وَإِذَا عَاهَدَ غَدَرَ، (٤) وَإِذَا خَاصَمَ فَجَرَ».

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The sign of the hypocrite is threefold: (1) when he speaks, he lies; (2) when he is entrusted, he betrays; and (3) when he promises, he breaks his promise."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ: «آيَةُ الْمُنَافِقِ ثَلاَثٌ: (١) إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ، (٢) وَإِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ، (٣) وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخَلَفَ».

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The signs of a hypocrite are three: Whenever he speaks he tells a lie; whenever he is entrusted he proves dishonest; whenever he promises he breaks his promise."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ آيَةُ الْمُنَافِقِ ثَلاَثٌ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever has (the following) four characteristics will be a pure hypocrite: "If he speaks, he tells a lie; if he gives a promise, he breaks it, if he makes a covenant he proves treacherous; and if he quarrels, he behaves in a very imprudent evil insulting manner (unjust). And whoever has one of these characteristics, has one characteristic of a hypocrite, unless he gives it us."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَرْبَعُ خِلاَلٍ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ كَانَ مُنَافِقًا خَالِصًا مَنْ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا عَاهَدَ غَدَرَ وَإِذَا خَاصَمَ فَجَرَ وَمَنْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنَ النِّفَاقِ حَتَّى يَدَعَهَا

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The signs of a hypocrite are three: Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie; and whenever he promises, he breaks his promise; and whenever he is entrusted, he betrays (proves to be dishonest)".

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ آيَةُ الْمُنَافِقِ ثَلاَثٌ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “There are four traits; whoever has them is a pure hypocrite, and whoever has one of them has a trait of hypocrisy until he gives it up: (1) when he speaks, he lies; (2) when he makes a covenant, he betrays it; (3) when he makes a promise, he breaks it; (4) when he argues, he becomes obscene.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «أَرْبَعٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ كَانَ مُنَافِقًا خَالِصًا، وَمَنْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَلَّةٌ مِنْهُنَّ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَلَّةٌ مِنْ نِفَاقٍ حَتَّى يَدَعَهَا: (١) إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ، (٢) وَإِذَا عَاهَدَ غَدَرَ، (٣) وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ، (٤) وَإِذَا خَاصَمَ فَجَرَ».

Three are the signs of a hypocrite: when he spoke he told a lie, when he made a promise he acted treacherously against it, when he was trusted he betrayed.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ آيَةُ الْمُنَافِقِ ثَلاَثٌ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا ائْتُمِنَ خَانَ

There are three characteristics of a hypocrite: when he spoke he told a lie, when he made promise he acted treacherously, and when he was trusted he betrayed.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنْ عَلاَمَاتِ الْمُنَافِقِ ثَلاَثَةٌ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا ائْتُمِنَ خَانَ

Four characteristics constitute anyone who possesses them a sheer hypocrite, and anyone who possesses one of them possesses a characteristics of hypocrisy till he abandons it : when he talks he lies, when he makes a promise he violates it, when he makes a covenant he acts treacherously, and when he quarrels, he deviates from the Truth.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَرْبَعٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ فَهُوَ مُنَافِقٌ خَالِصٌ وَمَنْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَلَّةٌ مِنْهُنَّ كَانَ فِيهِ خَلَّةٌ مِنْ نِفَاقٍ حَتَّى يَدَعَهَا إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا عَاهَدَ غَدَرَ وَإِذَا خَاصَمَ فَجَرَ

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The sign of a hypocrite is that whenever he speaks he lies, and whenever he makes a promise he does not fulfill it, and if he is entrusted he betrays."

رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ آيَةُ الْمُنَافِقِ ثَلاَثٌ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ

that the Prophet ﷺ said: There are four things that whoever has them, then he is a hypocrite, and whoever has one attribute from among them, then he has an attribute of hypocrisy,until he leaves it: Whoever lies whenever he speaks, he does not fulfill whenever he promises, he is vulgar whenever he argues, and whenever he makes an agreement he proves treacherous."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَرْبَعٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ كَانَ مُنَافِقًا وَإِنْ كَانَتْ خَصْلَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ فِيهِ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنَ النِّفَاقِ حَتَّى يَدَعَهَا مَنْ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا خَاصَمَ فَجَرَ وَإِذَا عَاهَدَ غَدَرَ قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْخَلاَّلُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ

The Prophet [SAW] said: "There are four (traits), whoever has them is a hypocrite and whoever has one of them, then has one of the traits of hypocrisy, until he gives it up: When he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; when he makes a covenant, he betrays it; and when he argues, he resorts to foul language."

The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: "The signs of the hypocrite are three: When he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise he breaks it; and when he is entrusted with something, he betrays (that trust)."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ آيَةُ النِّفَاقِ ثَلَاثٌ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ

ʿAbdullāh said: "There are three ˹traits˺, whoever has them is a hypocrite: (1) When he speaks, he lies; (2) when he is entrusted ˹with something˺, he betrays ˹that trust˺, (3) when he makes a promise, he breaks it. Whoever has one of these ˹traits˺ then a trait of hypocrisy has not ceased in him, until he leaves it."

عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ثَلَاثٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ فَهُوَ مُنَافِقٌ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ فَمَنْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ وَاحِدَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ لَمْ تَزَلْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنْ النِّفَاقِ حَتَّى يَتْرُكَهَا۔

The Prophet [SAW] said: "There are four (traits), whoever has them is a hypocrite and whoever has one of them, then has one of the traits of hypocrisy, until he gives it up: When he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; when he makes a covenant, he betrays it; and when he argues, he resorts to foul language." The Prophet [SAW] said: "There are four (traits), whoever has them is a hypocrite and whoever has one of them, then has one of the traits of hypocrisy, until he gives it up: When he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; when he makes a covenant, he betrays it; and when he argues, he resorts to foul language." the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Three traits that if a man possesses them then he is a true hypocrite: (1) when he speaks, he lies, (2) when he promises, he breaks it, and (3) when he is entrusted, he betrays. And whoever possesses one of them, he will continue to, that is, he has a trait of hypocrisy in him until he abandons it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «ثَلَاثٌ إِذَا كُنَّ فِي الرَّجُلِ فَهُوَ الْمُنَافِقُ الْخَالِصُ: (١) إِنْ حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ، (٢) وَإِنْ وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ، (٣) وَإِنِ اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ۔ وَمَنْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ لَمْ يَزَلْ يَعْنِي فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنَ النِّفَاقِ حَتَّى يَدَعَهَا۔»

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The signs of a hypocrite are three: 1. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie. 2. Whenever he promises, he always breaks it (his promise ). 3. If you trust him, he proves to be dishonest. (If you keep something as a trust with him, he will not return it.)" (Using translation from Bukhārī 33)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ آيَةُ الْمُنَافِقِ ثَلَاثٌ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ

the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Three ˹traits˺ that if one possesses them is a hypocrite – even if he fasts, prays, and claims to be a Muslim: one who (1) when he speaks, he lies, (2) when he promises, he breaks it, and (3) when he is entrusted, he betrays." (Using translation from Ibn Ḥibbān 257)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثَلَاثٌ فِيالْمُنَافِقِ وَإِنْ صَلَّى وَإِنْ صَامَ وَزَعَمَ أَنَّهُ مُسْلِمٌ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا ائْتُمِنَ خَانَ

from the Prophet ﷺ who said, "Three ˹traits˺ that if a man possesses them then he is a hypocrite – even if he fasts, prays, or claims to be a Muslim: one who (1) when he speaks, he lies, (2) when he promises, he breaks it, and (3) when he is entrusted, he betrays."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَرْبَعُ خِلَالٍ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ كَانَ مُنَافِقًا خَالِصًا مَنْ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا عَاهَدَ غَدَرَ وَإِذَا خَاصَمَ فَجَرَ وَمَنْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنَ النِّفَاقِ»

the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Three ˹traits˺ that if one possesses them is a hypocrite – even if he fasts, prays, and claims to be a Muslim: one who (1) when he speaks, he lies, (2) when he promises, he breaks it, and (3) when he is entrusted, he betrays."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ ثَلَاثٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ فَهُوَ مُنَافِقٌ وَإِنْ كَانَ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ فَفِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنَ النِّفَاقِ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا أُؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ إِسْنَادَهُ إِلَّا أَبُو دَاوُدَ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ وَغَيْرُ أَبِي دَاوُدَ يَرْوِيهِ مَوْقُوفًا

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ ﷺ ثلاث من كن فيه فهو منافق وَإن صام وصلى وزعم أنه مؤمن إذا حدث كذب وإذا وعد أخلف وإذا أئتمن خان وهذا الحديث لم يروه عَن دَاود عَن سَعِيد عَن أبي هُرَيرة إلاَّ حماد بن سلمة علي بن زيد وهُو ابن جدعان عن سَعِيد

عَن النَّبِيّ ﷺ قَالَ آيَةُ الْمُنَافِقِ ثلاث إذا حدث كذب وإذا وعد أخلف وإذا اؤتمن خان

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قال ثلاث من كن فيه فهو منافق وَإن صام وَإن صلى وزعم أنه مؤمن إذا حدث كذب وإذا ائتمن خان وإذا وعد أخلف وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ قَدْ رُوِيَ عَن أَبِي هُرَيرة مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهٍ ولاَ نَعلم رَوَاهُ عَن يَحيى عَن أبي سَلَمَة عَن أبي هُرَيرة إلاَّ أيوب بن عتبة

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ ثَلاثٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فيه فهو منافق وإن صام وصلى وزعم أنه مؤمن إذا حدث كذب وإذا اؤتمن خان وإذا وعد أخلف وهذا الحديثُ رواه غير المقرئ عن حماد عن داود عن ابن المسيب عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وأحسب أن المقرئ أخطأ فيه

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever has (the following) four characters will be a hypocrite, and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy until he gives it up. These are: (1 ) Whenever he talks, he tells a lie; (2) whenever he makes a promise, he breaks it; (3) whenever he makes a covenant he proves treacherous; (4) and whenever he quarrels, he behaves impudently in an evil insulting manner." عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَرْبَعَةٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ كَانَ مُنَافِقًا أَوْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنَ الْأَرْبَعِ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنْ النِّفَاقِ حَتَّى يَدَعَهَا إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا عَاهَدَ غَدَرَ وَإِذَا خَاصَمَ فَجَرَ»

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The signs of a hypocrite are three: 1. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie. 2. Whenever he promises, he always breaks it (his promise ). 3. If you trust him, he proves to be dishonest. (If you keep something as a trust with him, he will not return it.)" (Using translation from Bukhārī 33)

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, and in another narration from Sufyan, from the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "There are four traits; whoever possesses them is a complete hypocrite, and whoever possesses one of them has a trait of hypocrisy until he abandons it. When he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; when he is entrusted with something, he betrays it; and when he disputes, he becomes vulgar."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَفِي رِوَايَةِ سُفْيَانَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَرْبَعٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ كَانَ مُنَافِقًا خَالِصًا وَمَنْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنْ نِفَاقٍ حَتَّى يَدَعَهَا إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا عَاهَدَ غَدَرَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا خَاصَمَ فَجَرَ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The signs of a hypocrite are three: 1. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie. 2. Whenever he promises, he always breaks it (his promise ). 3. If you trust him, he proves to be dishonest. (If you keep something as a trust with him, he will not return it.)" (Using translation from Bukhārī 33)

"آيَاتُ الْمُنَافِقِ: مَنْ إِذَا حدَّثَ كَذَب، وَإِذا ائْتُمِنَ خانَ، وإِذَا وَعَدَ أخْلَفَ".

"ثَلَاثٌ مَن كُنَّ فِيهِ فَهُوَ مُنَافِقٌ وإِن صامَ وصَلَّى وقَالَ إِنِّى مَؤمِنٌ: إذا حَدَّث كَذَب، وَإذا ائْتُمِن خَانَ، وإَذَا وعَدَ أَخْلَفَ".

"في الْمُنَافِقِ ثَلاثِ خِلالٍ: إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ، وَإذَا وَعَدَ أخْلَفَ، وإذَا اؤتُمِنَ خَان".

"مِنْ أَعْلامِ الْمُنَافِق: إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ، وَإذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ، وَإِذَا ائْتَمَنْتَهُ خَانَكَ".
