The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever has the following four (characteristics) will be a pure hypocrite and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy unless and until he gives it up. 1. Whenever he is entrusted, he betrays. 2. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie. 3. Whenever he makes a covenant, he proves treacherous. 4. Whenever he quarrels, he behaves in a very imprudent, evil and insulting manner."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ أَرْبَعٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ كَانَ مُنَافِقًا خَالِصًا وَمَنْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنَ النِّفَاقِ حَتَّى يَدَعَهَا إِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ وَإِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا عَاهَدَ غَدَرَ وَإِذَا خَاصَمَ فَجَرَ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever has (the following) four characteristics will be a pure hypocrite: "If he speaks, he tells a lie; if he gives a promise, he breaks it, if he makes a covenant he proves treacherous; and if he quarrels, he behaves in a very imprudent evil insulting manner (unjust). And whoever has one of these characteristics, has one characteristic of a hypocrite, unless he gives it us."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَرْبَعُ خِلاَلٍ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ كَانَ مُنَافِقًا خَالِصًا مَنْ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا عَاهَدَ غَدَرَ وَإِذَا خَاصَمَ فَجَرَ وَمَنْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنَ النِّفَاقِ حَتَّى يَدَعَهَا

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever has (the following) four characters will be a hypocrite, and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy until he gives it up. These are: (1 ) Whenever he talks, he tells a lie; (2) whenever he makes a promise, he breaks it; (3) whenever he makes a covenant he proves treacherous; (4) and whenever he quarrels, he behaves impudently in an evil insulting manner." ʿAbdullāh said: "There are three ˹traits˺, whoever has them is a hypocrite: (1) When he speaks, he lies; (2) when he is entrusted ˹with something˺, he betrays ˹that trust˺, (3) when he makes a promise, he breaks it. Whoever has one of these ˹traits˺ then a trait of hypocrisy has not ceased in him, until he leaves it."

عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ثَلَاثٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ فَهُوَ مُنَافِقٌ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ فَمَنْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ وَاحِدَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ لَمْ تَزَلْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنْ النِّفَاقِ حَتَّى يَتْرُكَهَا۔

Four characteristics constitute anyone who possesses them a sheer hypocrite, and anyone who possesses one of them possesses a characteristics of hypocrisy till he abandons it : when he talks he lies, when he makes a promise he violates it, when he makes a covenant he acts treacherously, and when he quarrels, he deviates from the Truth.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَرْبَعٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ فَهُوَ مُنَافِقٌ خَالِصٌ وَمَنْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَلَّةٌ مِنْهُنَّ كَانَ فِيهِ خَلَّةٌ مِنْ نِفَاقٍ حَتَّى يَدَعَهَا إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا عَاهَدَ غَدَرَ وَإِذَا خَاصَمَ فَجَرَ

the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Three traits that if a man possesses them then he is a true hypocrite: (1) when he speaks, he lies, (2) when he promises, he breaks it, and (3) when he is entrusted, he betrays. And whoever possesses one of them, he will continue to, that is, he has a trait of hypocrisy in him until he abandons it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «ثَلَاثٌ إِذَا كُنَّ فِي الرَّجُلِ فَهُوَ الْمُنَافِقُ الْخَالِصُ: (١) إِنْ حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ، (٢) وَإِنْ وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ، (٣) وَإِنِ اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ۔ وَمَنْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ لَمْ يَزَلْ يَعْنِي فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنَ النِّفَاقِ حَتَّى يَدَعَهَا۔»

the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Three ˹traits˺ that if one possesses them is a hypocrite – even if he fasts, prays, and claims to be a Muslim: one who (1) when he speaks, he lies, (2) when he promises, he breaks it, and (3) when he is entrusted, he betrays."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «ثَلَاثٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ فَهُوَ مُنَافِقٌ، وَإِنْ صَامَ وَصَلَّى وَزَعَمَ أَنَّهُ مُسْلِمٌ: مَنْ (١) إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ، (٢) وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ، (٣) وَإِذَا ائْتُمِنَ خَانَ۔»

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever has (the following) four characters will be a hypocrite, and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy until he gives it up. "ثَلَاثٌ مَن كُنَّ فِيهِ فَهُوَ مُنَافِقٌ وإِن صامَ وصَلَّى وقَالَ إِنِّى مَؤمِنٌ: إذا حَدَّث كَذَب، وَإذا ائْتُمِن خَانَ، وإَذَا وعَدَ أَخْلَفَ".
