"عَنْ بُرَيْدَةَ: أَنَّ امْرَاةً أَتَتِ النَّبِىَّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ: يَارَسُولَ اللهِ! إَنَّ أُمِّى مَاتَتْ وَلَمْ تَحُجَّ فَيُجْزِى عَلَىَّ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهَا؟ قَالَ: أَرَأَيْتِ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أُمِّكِ دَيْنٌ فَقَضَيْتِهِ أَكَانَ يُجْزِى عَنْهَا؟ قَالَتْ: نَعَمْ. قَالَ: فَدَيْنُ اللهِ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُقْضَى".

A woman from the tribe of Juhaina came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "My mother had vowed to perform Hajj but she died before performing it. May I perform Hajj on my mother's behalf?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Perform Hajj on her behalf. Had there been a debt on your mother, would you have paid it or not? So, pay Allah's debt as He has more right to be paid."

Perform the Hajj on her behalf. See, if your mother had been in debt, would you have paid her debt?" She said, "Yes." He said, "So you should pay what is for Him as Allah has more right that one should fulfill one's obligations to Him. "

A woman came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: My mother has died, and fasts of a month are due from her. Thereupon he said: Don't you see that if debt was due from her, would you not pay it? She said: Yes (I would pay on her behalf). Thereupon he said: The debt of Allah deserves its payment more than (the payment of anyone else).

A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and said (to him) that one month's fast was due from her mother who had died. May I fulfill them on her behalf?
