A woman from the tribe of Khath'am asked for the verdict of Messenger of Allah ﷺ (regarding something) during Hajjat-ul-Wadaʿ while Al-Fadl bin ʿAbbas was the companion-rider behind Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She asked, "Allah's ordained obligation (i.e. compulsory Hajj) enjoined on His slaves has become due on my old father who cannot sit firmly on the riding animal. Will it be sufficient if I perform the Hajj on his behalf?" He said, "Yes."

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمَ اسْتَفْتَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ وَالْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رَدِيفُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لاَ يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يَقْضِي أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ

Al-Fadl was riding behind the Prophet ﷺ and a woman from the tribe of Khath'am came up. Al-Fadl started looking at her and she looked at him. The Prophet ﷺ turned Al-Fadl's face to the other side. She said, "My father has come under Allah's obligation of performing Hajj but he is a very old man and cannot sit properly on his Mount. Shall I perform Hajj on his behalf? The Prophet ﷺ replied in the affirmative. That happened during Hajjat-al-Wadaʿ of the Prophet ﷺ .

جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمَ عَامَ حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ فِي الْحَجِّ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لاَ يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يَقْضِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ

He was riding behind the Messenger of Allah [SAW] on the morning of the Day of Sacrifice, when a woman from Khath'am came to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, the command of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, to His slaves to perform Hajj has come while my father is an old man and cannot ride unless he is tied crossways on a mount; can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He said: "Yes, perform Hajj on his behalf, for if he owed a debt you would pay it off for him."

أَنَّهُ كَانَ رَدِيفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ غَدَاةَ النَّحْرِ فَأَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللَّهِ ﷻ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لاَ يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَرْكَبَ إِلاَّ مُعْتَرِضًا أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ حُجِّي عَنْهُ فَإِنَّهُ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ قَضَيْتِيهِ

“O Messenger of Allah, my father is an old man who has become weak, and now the command of Allah has come for His slaves to perform Hajj, but he cannot do it. Will it discharge his duty if I perform it on his behalf?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Yes.”

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ جَاءَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَبِي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ قَدْ أَفْنَدَ وَأَدْرَكَتْهُ فَرِيضَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ فِي الْحَجِّ وَلاَ يَسْتَطِيعُ أَدَاءَهَا فَهَلْ يُجْزِئُ عَنْهُ أَنْ أُؤَدِّيَهَا عَنْهُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَعَمْ

“O Messenger of Allah, the command of Allah has come for His slaves to perform Hajj, but my father is an old man and cannot ride. May I perform Hajj on his behalf?” He said: “Yes, because if your father owed a debt you would pay it off.”

أَنَّهُ كَانَ رِدْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ غَدَاةَ النَّحْرِ فَأَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللَّهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لاَ يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَرْكَبَ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَإِنَّهُ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أَبِيكِ دَيْنٌ قَضَيْتِيهِ

a woman from Khath'am asked the Prophet on the morning of the Day of Sacrifice: "O Messenger of Allah! The command of Allah to His slaves to perform Hajj has come, while my father is an old man and cannot sit firmly in the saddle. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He said: "Yes. أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمَ سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ غَدَاةَ جَمْعٍ وَالْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رِدْفُهُ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَمْسِكَ عَلَى الرَّحْلِ فَهَلْ تَرَى أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ

[Machine] A woman from the tribe of Khath'am asked the Prophet ﷺ during the Farewell Hajj, and Al-Fadl bin Abbas, the cousin of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, was sitting next to him. She said, "O Messenger of Allah, the obligation of Hajj has befallen upon my father who is an old man and unable to hold onto the reins of the camel. Should I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He replied, "Yes, perform Hajj on behalf of your father."

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمَ سَأَلَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ وَالْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رَدِيفُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَمْسِكَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ حُجِّي عَنْ أَبِيكِ

[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, the obligation of Allah in Hajj has reached her father who is an elderly man, unable to endure the journey. Should she perform Hajj on his behalf?" He said, "Yes."

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبَاهَا شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَثْبُتَ عَلَى الرَّحْلِ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ

[Machine] He was in the company of the Prophet ﷺ during the Farewell Hajj. A woman from Khath'am came and said, "I have fulfilled my obligation to Allah in performing Hajj, but my elderly father cannot ride on his mount and has not performed Hajj. Should I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He replied, "Yes." Abu Muhammad asked, "Do you say this?" He replied, "Yes."

أَنَّهُ كَانَ رَدِيفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمَ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللَّهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَمْسِكُ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ وَلَمْ يَحُجَّ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» سُئِلَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد «تَقُولُ بِهَذَا؟» قَالَ «نَعَمْ»

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمَ اسْتَفْتَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ وَالْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رَدِيفُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يَقْضِي أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ»

[Machine] "A woman from the tribe of Khath'am asked the Prophet ﷺ and Al-Fadl was sitting next to him. She said, 'O Messenger of Allah, the obligation of Hajj has come upon my father, and he is an elderly man. If I support him on his mount, will this count as fulfilling the obligation?' He ﷺ replied, 'Yes, you will fulfill your obligation by performing Hajj on his behalf.'"

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ سَأَلْتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَالْفَضْلُ رَدِيفُهُ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي وَهُوَ شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ إِنْ شَدُّوهُ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ لَمْ يَسْتَمْسِكْ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ حُجِّي عَنْهُ»

[Machine] A woman from Khath'am came to the Prophet ﷺ during his farewell pilgrimage and asked, "O Prophet of Allah, indeed the obligation of Allah upon his servants during Hajj has overtaken my elderly father who is not able to ride a camel. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Yes."

جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ تَسْتَفْتِي النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَامَ حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَقَالَتْ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ فِي الْحَجِّ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يُغْنِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ «نَعَمْ»

[Machine] A woman from the Khath'am tribe consulted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the obligation of Allah in Hajj upon His servants. She mentioned that her elderly father was unable to travel on a riding animal. She asked if she could perform Hajj on his behalf. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Yes."

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ اسْتَفْتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يُغْنِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «نَعَمْ»

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet that a woman from Khath'am asked him a question regarding the Farewell Pilgrimage. She said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed the obligation of Allah upon His servants in Hajj has reached my elderly father. He is unable to ride on a mount. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He replied, "Yes."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ اسْتَفْتَتْهُ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يَقْضِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ لَهَا «نَعَمْ»

[Machine] A woman from Khath'am consulted the Prophet ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage and said, "O Messenger of Allah, the obligation of Allah in Hajj has become difficult for His servants, as my old father is unable to ride on a mount. Can I perform the Hajj on his behalf?" He replied, "Yes."

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ اسْتَفْتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يَقْضِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ لَهَا «نَعَمْ»

[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, indeed the obligation of Allah in regards to Hajj has reached my elderly father who is unable to travel. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "Yes."

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ هَلْ يَقْضِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «نَعَمْ»

[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, indeed the obligation of Allah in performing Hajj has caught up with my elderly father who is unable to hold onto the mount. Should I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He said, "Yes, perform Hajj on behalf of your father."

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَمْسِكَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ حُجِّي عَنْ أَبِيكِ»

أَنَّهُ كَانَ رَدِيفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ غَدَاةَ النَّحْرِ فَأَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَرْكَبَ إِلَّا مُعْتَرِضًا أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ حُجِّي عَنْهُ» قَالَ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ قَضَيْتِيهِ

[Machine] "A woman from Kha'thamah asked the Prophet ﷺ one morning after the congregational prayer, she said: 'O Messenger of Allah, is it obligatory for me to perform Hajj on behalf of my elderly father who is unable to travel?' He replied, 'Yes'. It was narrated to us by Sa'id bin 'Abdul Rahman Al-Makki, who said: Sufyan narrated to us from Ibn Tawus from his father from Ibn Abbas with a similar narration."

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمَ سَأَلَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ غَدَاةَ جَمْعٍ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَرِيضَةُ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَمْسِكُ عَلَى الرَّحْلِ أَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» 3602 أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَكِّيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ مِثْلَهُ

"عَنْ عَلِىٍّ أَنَّ امرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمَ شَابَّةً قَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ الله: إِنَّ أَبِى شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ قَدْ أَفْنَدَ، أدْرَكَتْهُ فَرِيضَةُ الله عَلَى عِبَادِهِ فِى الْحَجِّ، لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَدَاءَهَا، فَهَلْ يُجْزِى عَنْهُ أَنْ أُؤَدِّيها عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ".
