'I have sighted the crescent.' He said: 'Do you bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger?' He said: 'Yes.' So the Prophet gave the call saying: 'Fast."'  

جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَأَيْتُ الْهِلاَلَ فَقَالَ أَتَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَنَادَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ صُومُوا  

"A Bedouin come to the Prophet and said; 'I have sighted the crescent tonight.' He said: 'Do you bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Messenger?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'O Bilal, announce to the people that they should fast tomorrow. "'  

جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَبْصَرْتُ الْهِلاَلَ اللَّيْلَةَ قَالَ أَتَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ يَا بِلاَلُ أَذِّنْ فِي النَّاسِ فَلْيَصُومُوا غَدًا  

A bedouin came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: I have sighted the moon. Al-Hasan added in his version: that is, of Ramadan. He asked: Do you testify that there is no god but Allah? He replied: Yes. He again asked: Do you testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah? He replied: Yes. and he testified that he had sighted the moon. He said: Bilal, announce to the people that they must fast tomorrow.  

جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ الْهِلاَلَ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ يَعْنِي رَمَضَانَ فَقَالَ أَتَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ أَتَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ يَا بِلاَلُ أَذِّنْ فِي النَّاسِ فَلْيَصُومُوا غَدًا  

"A Bedouin came to the Prophet and said: 'I have seen the crescent.' So he said: 'Do you testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah? Do you testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Yes.' So he said: 'O Bilal! Announce to the people that they should fast tomorrow.'"  

جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ الْهِلاَلَ قَالَ أَتَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ أَتَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ يَا بِلاَلُ أَذِّنْ فِي النَّاسِ أَنْ يَصُومُوا غَدًا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ الْجُعْفِيُّ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ نَحْوَهُ بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ

جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ الْهِلَالَ يَعْنِي هِلَالَ رَمَضَانَ فَقَالَ «أَتَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «أَتَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «يَا بِلَالُ أَذِّنْ فِي النَّاسِ أَنْ يَصُومُوا غَدًا» تَابَعَهُ سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ وَحَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ  

[Machine] A Bedouin man came to the Messenger of Allah on the night of the sighting of the crescent moon of Ramadan, and he said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have seen the moon." The Messenger of Allah asked him, "Do you testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?" The man replied, "Yes." The Messenger of Allah then said, "Proclaim to the people to begin fasting." This narration was reported by Al-Fadl ibn Musa from Sufyan Ath-Thawri.  

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ أَعْرَابِيٌّ لَيْلَةَ هِلَالِ رَمَضَانَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي قَدْ رَأَيْتُ الْهِلَالَ فَقَالَ «أَتَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَتَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَنَادِ فِي النَّاسِ أَنْ يَصُومُوا» وَهَكَذَا رَوَاهُ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى عَنْ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ  

[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, I have seen the crescent moon." He said, "Do you bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Then announce that the people should fast."  

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ رَأَيْتُ الْهِلَالَ فَقَالَ «أَتَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَنَادَى أَنْ يَصُومُوا»  

“A Bedouin came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: ‘I have seen the new crescent tonight.’ He said: ‘Do you bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘Get up, O Bilal, and announce to the people that they should fast tomorrow.’” Abu 'Ali said: "This is how it was narrated from Walid bin Abu Thawr and Hasan bin 'Ali. It was also narrated from Hammad bin Salamah, but he did not mention Ibn 'Abbas. He said: 'And he announced that they should perform the prayer and that they should fast.'" جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَبْصَرْتُ الْهِلَالَ اللَّيْلَةَ فَقَالَ «أَتَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ؟» فَقَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «قُمْ يَا بِلَالُ فَأَذِّنْ فِي النَّاسِ فَلْيَصُومُوا» قَدِ احْتَجَّ الْبُخَارِيُّ بِعِكْرِمَةَ وَاحْتَجَّ مُسْلِمٌ بِسِمَاكٍ «وَ  

"A Bedouin come to the Prophet and said; 'I have sighted the crescent tonight.' He said: 'Do you bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Messenger?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'O Bilal, announce to the people that they should fast tomorrow. "' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2113)   

جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَعْرَابِيٌّ فَقَالَ أَبْصَرْتُ الْهِلَالَ اللَّيْلَةَ فَقَالَ «تَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «قُمْ يَا فُلَانُ فَنَادِ فِي النَّاسِ فَلْيَصُومُوا غَدًا» وَأَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى مَرَّةً أُخْرَى وَقَالَ «قُمْ يَا بِلَالُ»
