ذِكْرُ دُعَاءِ الْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ بِالشِّفَاءِ لِعَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ؓ مِنْ عِلَّتِهِ

I fell sick and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by me when I was saying O Allah, if my time has come then grant me relief; if it has not yet come then raise me in status; and if this is a trial then grant me patience. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “What did you say?” He repeated to him what he had said, and he nudged him with his foot and said: ʿO Allah, grant him well beingʿ or “O Allah, heal him.” - Shuʿbah was not certain. He [‘Ali] said: And I never suffered that sickness again after that. (Using translation from Aḥmad 841)

“I was ill and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by me while I was saying: ‘O Allah, if my term has come, then give me relief, and if it is coming later, then make my life more bountiful, and if it is a trial then make me patient (Allāhumma, in kāna ajalī qad ḥaḍara fa ariḥnī, wa in kāna muta’akh-khiran fa arfighnī, wa in kāna balā’an fa ṣabbirnī).’ So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘What did you say?’” He said: “So he repeated to him what he said.” He (one of the narrators) said: So he struck him with his foot and said: “O Allah, grant him health (Allāhumma ʿāfihi)” – or – “heal him (ishfihi).” – Shuʿba is the one who doubted. He said: “So I did not suffer from my ailment again.”

[Machine] I was sick, so the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم came to me while I was saying: "O Allah, if my time has come, then grant me ease. And if it is delayed, then raise me up. And if it is a test, then grant me patience." He asked, "What did you say?" So, I repeated it. The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "O Allah, cure him. O Allah, heal him." Then, he said, "Stand up." So, I stood up and I never experienced that pain again afterwards.
