[Machine] On the day of Uhud, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by Hamza ibn Abdul-Muttalib while he was wounded and disfigured. He said, "If it were not for the fact that Safiyya will miss him until Allah gathers him from the bellies of birds and wild animals, I would have left him." So he wrapped him in a cloth. When his head was covered, his feet were exposed, and when his feet were covered, his head was exposed. His head was covered and he did not offer funeral prayer for any martyr other than him. He said, "I bear witness against you all today." He used to bury three or two people in one grave and ask, "Which of them has more Qur'an?" Then he would place the most knowledgeable one in front during the burial. He wrapped the bodies of two men and three men in one cloth.

"The Messenger of Allah came to Hamza on the Day of Uhud, he stood over him and saw that he had been mutilated. He said: Had it not been that Safiyyah would be distressed, then I would have left him to be eaten by the beasts until he was gathered on the Day of Judgment from their stomachs." He said: "Then he called for a Namirah to shroud him with. When it was extended over his head, it left his feet exposed, and when it was extended over his feet, it left his head exposed." He said: "There were many dead and few cloths." He said: "One, two and three men were shrouded in one cloth and buried in one grave." He said: "So the Messenger of Allah was asking which of them knew the most Quran, so he could put him toward the Qibalh." He said: "So the Messenger of Allah buried them and he did not perform (funeral prayers) for them."

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed Hamzah who was killed and disfigured. He said: If Safiyyah were not grieved, I would have left him until the birds and beasts of prey would have eaten him, and he would have been resurrected from their bellies. The garments were scanty and the slain were in great number. So one, two and three persons were shrouded in one garment. The narrator Qutaybah added: They were then buried in one grave. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked: Which of the two learnt the Qur'an more? He then advanced him toward the qiblah (direction of prayer). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3136)

[Machine] On a day of the Battle of Uhud, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by Hamzah ibn Abd al-Muttalib, who had been killed and mutilated. The Prophet ﷺ said, "If it were not for Safiyyah finding him, I would have left him until Allah resurrects him from the bellies of birds and wild animals." He then shrouded him in a mantle, and when his head was wrapped, his feet would show, and when his feet were wrapped, his head would show. He wrapped his head, and he did not offer the funeral prayer for anyone besides him. Then he said, "I bear witness that I will testify against you on the Day of Judgment." He used to gather three or two people in one grave and ask them who had memorized more of the Qur'an, and he would place the one who had memorized it more inside first. He shrouded the two men and the three men in one garment." Abu Abdur Rahman As-Sulami informed us, Ali ibn Omar Al-Hafiz reported, "This is the wording of the hadith, 'and he did not offer the funeral prayer for anyone besides him' which is not preserved." Abu Isa At-Tirmidhi said in his book Al-Ilal, "I asked Muhammad bin Bukhari about this hadith, meaning its chain of narrators, and he said, 'The hadith of Abdul Rahman bin Ka'b bin Malik from Jabir bin Abdullah is a Hasan hadith, and the hadith of Usamah bin Zaid is not preserved. There was a mistake in attributing the hadith to Usamah bin Zaid." The sheikh said, "It has also been said that Az-Zuhri narrated from Abdul Rahman bin Ka'b bin Malik from his father."
