"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever introduces a good practice that is followed, he will receive its reward and a reward equivalent to that of those who follow it, without that detracting from their reward in their slightest. And whoever introduces a bad practice that is followed, he will receive its sin and a burden of sin equivalent to that of those who follow it, without that detracting from their burden in the slightest.'" "My father told me narrating from my grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever revives a Sunnah of mine, which people then act upon, will have a reward equivalent to that of those who act upon it, without that detracting from their reward in the slightest. And whoever introduces an innovation (Bid'ah) that is acted upon, will have a burden of sins equivalent to that of those who act upon it, withot that detracting from the burden of those who act upon it in the slightest.'"

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever establishes a good tradition in Islam will receive its reward and the reward of those who follow it, without decreasing anything from their rewards. And whoever establishes a bad tradition in Islam will bear its sin and the sin of those who follow it, without decreasing anything from their sins."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered a sermon and exhorted the people to give charity. They were slow to respond until anger became apparent on his face. Then, a man from the Ansar came with a bag filled with items, and the people began to follow suit until it was seen on his face that he was delighted. He said, "Whoever starts a good practice will receive its reward and the reward of those who follow it, without reducing anything from their rewards. And whoever initiates an evil practice shall carry its burden and the burden of those who act upon it, without diminishing anything from their burdens."  

الدارمي:٥٣١أَخْبَرَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ شُجَاعٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ صُبَيْحٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ الْعَبْسِيِّ عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ

خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَحَثَّ النَّاسَ عَلَى الصَّدَقَةِ فَأَبْطَئُوا حَتَّى بَانَ فِي وَجْهِهِ الْغَضَبُ ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ جَاءَ بِصُرَّةٍ فَتَتَابَعَ النَّاسُ حَتَّى رُئِيَ فِي وَجْهِهِ السُّرُورُ فَقَالَ «مَنْ سَنَّ سُنَّةً حَسَنَةً كَانَ لَهُ أَجْرُهُ وَمِثْلُ أَجْرِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يُنْقَصَ مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ شَيْءٌ وَمَنْ سَنَّ سُنَّةً سَيِّئَةً كَانَ عَلَيْهِ وِزْرُهُ وَمِثْلُ وِزْرِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يُنْقَصَ مِنْ أَوْزَارِهِمْ شَيْءٌ»

الطبراني:٢٤٣٧حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ الْأَسَدِيُّ عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ صُبَيْحٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَرِيرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ وَكَانَ مِمَّا يَفْعَلُ يَأْتِي الْمِنْبَرَ حَتَّى يَقُومَ عَلَيْهِ فَسَمِعْتُ يَقُولُ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ سَنَّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ سُنَّةً حَسَنَةً فَلَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا فِي أَنْ لَا يَنْقُصَ مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ شَيْءٌ وَمَنْ سَنَّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ سُنَّةً سَيِّئَةً فَعَلَيْهِ مِثْلُ وِزْرِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا فِي أَنَّهُ لَا يَنْقُصُ مِنْ أَوْزَارِهِمْ شَيْءٌ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "It is not recommended for a servant to perform a righteous deed after it is completed except that he will have a reward similar to that of the one who performs it, while their reward will not be decreased in any way. And a servant should not acquire an evil habit after it is done except that he will be burdened with a similar sin to that of the one who carries it out, without their own burdens being lessened."

And whoever establishes a bad Sunnah (practice) in Islam, and it is acted upon after him, he will bear the burden of sin for it and those who act upon it after him will not have their burden reduced in any way."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ سَنَّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ سُنَّةً حَسَنَةً فَيُعْمَلُ بِهَا بَعْدَهُ كُتِبَ لَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا وَلَا يَنْقُصُ مِنْ أَجْرِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا شَيْءٌ وَمَنْ سَنَّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ سُنَّةً سَيِّئَةً فَعُمِلَ بِهَا بَعْدَهُ كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِ مِثْلُ وِزْرِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا وَلَا يَنْقُصُ مِنْ أَوْزَارِهِمْ شَيْءٌ»

[Machine] Read to him, and say to him, how did you hear the Prophet ﷺ say, "Whoever starts a good practice in Islam, will have the reward for it, and the reward of all who practice it, without anything being reduced from their rewards. And whoever starts an evil practice in Islam, will have the sin of it, and the sin of all who practice it, without anything being reduced from their sins."

اقْرَأْ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامَ وَقُلْ لَهُ كَيْفَ سَمِعْتَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ سَنَّ سُنَّةً صَالِحَةً فَاتُّبِعَ فِيهَا وَعُمِلَ بِهَا» قَالَ فَأَتَيْتُهُ وَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ «لَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِ كُلِّ رَجُلٍ عَمِلَ بِهَا مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يَنْقُصَ مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ شَيْءٌ وَمَنْ سَنَّ سُنَّةً سَيِّئَةً فَاتُّبِعَ فِيهَا وَعُمِلَ بِهَا كَانَ عَلَيْهِ مِثْلُ إِثْمِ كُلِّ رَجُلٍ عَمِلَ بِهَا مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يَنْقُصَ مِنْ إِثْمِهِمْ شَيْءٌ»
