ʿAisha said, "We set out with the sole intention of performing Hajj and when we reached Sarif, (a place six miles from Mecca) I got my menses. Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me while I was weeping. He said 'What is the matter with you? Have you got your menses?' I replied, 'Yes.' He said, 'This is a thing which Allah has ordained for the daughters of Adam. So do what all the pilgrims do with the exception of the Tawaf (Circumambulation) round the Kaʿba." ʿAisha added, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ sacrificed cows on behalf of his wives."  

سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ تَقُولُ خَرَجْنَا لاَ نَرَى إِلاَّ الْحَجَّ فَلَمَّا كُنَّا بِسَرِفَ حِضْتُ فَدَخَلَ عَلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي قَالَ مَا لَكِ أَنُفِسْتِ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا أَمْرٌ كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ فَاقْضِي مَا يَقْضِي الْحَاجُّ غَيْرَ أَنْ لاَ تَطُوفِي بِالْبَيْتِ قَالَتْ وَضَحَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ نِسَائِهِ بِالْبَقَرِ  

Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me at Sarif while I was weeping (because I was afraid that I would not be able to perform the ,Hajj). He said, "What is wrong with you? Have you got your period?" I replied, "Yes." He said, "This is a matter Allah has decreed for all the daughters of Adam, so perform the ceremonies of the Hajj as the pilgrims do, but do not perform the Tawaf around the Kaʿba." Messenger of Allah ﷺ slaughtered some cows as sacrifices on behalf of his wives.  

دَخَلَ عَلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِسَرِفَ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا لَكِ أَنَفِسْتِ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ هَذَا أَمْرٌ كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ اقْضِي مَا يَقْضِي الْحَاجُّ غَيْرَ أَنْ لاَ تَطُوفِي بِالْبَيْتِ وَضَحَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ نِسَائِهِ بِالْبَقَرِ  

We proceeded with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with no other intention but that of performing the Hajj. As I was at Sarif or near it, I entered in the state of menses. The Apostle of Allah ﷺ came to me and I was weeping, whereupon he said: Are you in a state of menses? I said. Yes. whereupon he said: This is what Allah has ordained for all the daughters, of Adam. Do whatever the pilgrim does. except that you should not circumambulate the House till you have washed yourself (at the end of the menses period). And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered sacrifice of a cow on behalf of his wives.  

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَلاَ نُرَى إِلاَّ الْحَجَّ حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا بِسَرِفَ أَوْ قَرِيبًا مِنْهَا حِضْتُ فَدَخَلَ عَلَىَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي فَقَالَ أَنَفِسْتِ يَعْنِي الْحَيْضَةَ قَالَتْ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا شَىْءٌ كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ فَاقْضِي مَا يَقْضِي الْحَاجُّ غَيْرَ أَنْ لاَ تَطُوفِي بِالْبَيْتِ حَتَّى تَغْتَسِلِي قَالَتْ وَضَحَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ نِسَائِهِ بِالْبَقَرِ  

"We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with no intention other than Hajj. When he was in Sarif [1] I began menstruating. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me and I was weeping. He said: 'What is the matter with you? Has your Nifas begun?' [2] I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'This is something that Allah the Mighty and Sublime has decreed for the daughter of Adam. Do what the pilgrims do, but do not perform tawaf around the House.' And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sacrificed a cow on behalf of his wives." [1] Sarif is a place between Al-Madinah and Makkah, near Makkah. [2] Here, it means menstruation. See the chapter clarifying that where it appears again, No. 349.

“We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, intending only to perform Hajj. When we were in Sarif or close to Sarif, my menses came. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me when I was weeping. He said: ‘What is the matter with you? Have your menses come?’ I said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘This is something that Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam. Do all the rites, but do not circumambulate the House.’” She said: “And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sacrificed a cow on behalf of his wives.”

[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ said to her when she menstruated at Sarif before entering Mecca: 'Fulfill what the pilgrims fulfill, except that you do not perform the circumambulation around the Kaaba.' She said: 'When we were in Mina, I was presented with the meat of a cow. I asked: 'What is this?' They said: 'The Prophet ﷺ slaughtered it for his wives.'"  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لَهَا وَحَاضَتْ بِسَرِفٍ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَدْخُلَ مَكَّةَ قَالَ لَهَا اقْضِي مَا يَقْضِي الْحَاجُّ غَيْرَ أَنْ لَا تَطُوفِي بِالْبَيْتِ قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا كُنَّا بِمِنًى أُتِيتُ بِلَحْمِ بَقَرٍ قُلْتُ مَا هَذَا؟ قَالُوا ضَحَّى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَنْ أَزْوَاجِهِ بِالْبَقَرِ  

"We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with no intention other than Hajj. When he was in Sarif [1] I began menstruating. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me and I was weeping. He said: 'What is the matter with you? Has your Nifas begun?' [2] I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'This is something that Allah the Mighty and Sublime has decreed for the daughter of Adam. Do what the pilgrims do, but do not perform tawaf around the House.' And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sacrificed a cow on behalf of his wives." [Machine] We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until we reached Sarif or Qarib, where I had my period. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me while I was crying, and he asked, "What is the matter with you?" I replied, "I am menstruating." He said, "Surely, this is a matter that Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam, so do everything that the pilgrim does except for circumambulation around the Kaaba." She (the narrator) added, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then sacrificed an animal."
