I was in the company of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey when he said: Mughira take hold of this jar (of water). I took hold of it and I went out with him. (I stopped but) the Messenger of Allah ﷺ proceeded on till he was out of my sight. He relieved himself and then came back and he was wearing a tight-sleeved Syrian gown. He tried to get his forearms out. but the sleeve of the gown was very narrow, so he brought his hands out from under the gown. I poured water over (his hands) and he performed ablution for prayer, then wiped over his socks and prayed.  

كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ فَقَالَ يَا مُغِيرَةُ خُذِ الإِدَاوَةَ فَأَخَذْتُهَا ثُمَّ خَرَجْتُ مَعَهُ فَانْطَلَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَتَّى تَوَارَى عَنِّي فَقَضَى حَاجَتَهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَ وَعَلَيْهِ جُبَّةٌ شَامِيَّةٌ ضَيِّقَةُ الْكُمَّيْنِ فَذَهَبَ يُخْرِجُ يَدَهُ مِنْ كُمِّهَا فَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْهِ فَأَخْرَجَ يَدَهُ مِنْ أَسْفَلِهَا فَصَبَبْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَتَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلاَةِ ثُمَّ مَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ ثُمَّ صَلَّى  

"I was with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey, and he said: 'Stay back O Mughirah! Go ahead, O people!' So I went back, and I had with me a vessel of water. The people went ahead, and there the Messenger of Allah ﷺ relieved himself. when he came back I went and poured water for him. He was wearing a Roman Jubbah with narrow sleeves, and he wanted to expose his hands (to wash them) but the sleeves were too tight, so he brought his hands out from beneath the Jubbah and washed his head, and wiped over his Khuffs."  

كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ فَقَالَ تَخَلَّفْ يَا مُغِيرَةُ وَامْضُوا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ فَتَخَلَّفْتُ وَمَعِي إِدَاوَةٌ مِنْ مَاءٍ وَمَضَى النَّاسُ فَذَهَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِحَاجَتِهِ فَلَمَّا رَجَعَ ذَهَبْتُ أَصُبُّ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَيْهِ جُبَّةٌ رُومِيَّةٌ ضَيِّقَةُ الْكُمَّيْنِ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يُخْرِجَ يَدَهُ مِنْهَا فَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْهِ فَأَخْرَجَ يَدَهُ مِنْ تَحْتِ الْجُبَّةِ فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ  

[Machine] "I was with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey, and he fulfilled his needs. Then, I came to him with a container of water, and he had a Shammi cloak on him. He tried to take out his hand from its sleeves but was unable to do so. Therefore, he took out his hands from beneath the cloak, then he performed ablution and wiped over his socks."  

كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ فَقَضَى حَاجَتَهُ ثُمَّ جِئْتُهُ بِإِدَاوَةٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ وَعَلَيْهِ جُبَّةٌ شَامِيَّةٌ قَالَ فَلَمْ يَقْدِرْ على أَنْ يُخْرِجَ يَدَيْهِ مِنْ كُمَّيْهَا فَأَخْرَجَ يَدَيْهِ مِنْ أَسْفَلِهَا ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ  

[Machine] I was with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey, and he said to me, "O Mugheerah, take the water container." So I took it. He then departed and walked ahead of me until he disappeared from my sight. He fulfilled his need and then came back, wearing a narrow-sleeved Syrian cloak. He tried to take out his hands from it, but they got stuck. He then took out his hands from the bottom of the cloak, and I poured water over them. He performed ablution for prayer, wiped over his socks, and then prayed.

Once I was traveling with the Prophet ﷺ and he said, "O Mughira! take this container of water." I took it and Messenger of Allah ﷺ went far away till he disappeared. He answered the call of nature and was wearing a Syrian cloak. He tried to take out his hands from its sleeve but it was very tight so he took out his hands from under it. I poured water and he performed ablution like that for prayers and passed his wet hands over his Khuff (socks made from thick fabric or leather) and then prayed . "عَنِ الْمُغيرةِ قَالَ: كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِىِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا مُغِيرَةُ خُذِ الإدواة (*)، فأَخَذْتُهَا، ثُمَّ خَرَجْتُ مَعَهُ، فَانْطَلَقَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ حَتَّى تَوَارى عنِّى، فَقَضَى حَاجَتَهُ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ وَعَلَيْهِ جبَّةٌ شَامِيَّةٌ ضَيِّقَةُ الْكُمَّيْنِ، فَذَهَبَ لِيُخْرِجَ يَدَهُ مِنْ كُمِّهَا، فَضَاقَتْ، فَأَخْرَجَ يَدَهُ مِنْ أَسْفَلِهَا فَصَبَبْتُ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ فَتَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ، ثُمَّ مَسَح عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى".
