I heard Anas saying, "A man from Ansar said to the Prophet, 'I cannot pray with you (in congregation).' He was a very fat man and he prepared a meal for the Prophet ﷺ and invited him to his house. He spread out a mat for the Prophet, and washed one of its sides with water, and the Prophet ﷺ prayed two rakʿat on it." A man from the family of Al-Jaruid [??] asked, "Did the Prophet ﷺ used to pray the Duha (forenoon) prayer?" Anas said, "I did not see him praying the Duha prayer except on that day."

رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ إِنِّي لاَ أَسْتَطِيعُ الصَّلاَةَ مَعَكَ وَكَانَ رَجُلاً ضَخْمًا فَصَنَعَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ طَعَامًا فَدَعَاهُ إِلَى مَنْزِلِهِ فَبَسَطَ لَهُ حَصِيرًا وَنَضَحَ طَرَفَ الْحَصِيرِ صَلَّى عَلَيْهِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ آلِ الْجَارُودِ لأَنَسٍ أَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى قَالَ مَا رَأَيْتُهُ صَلاَّهَا إِلاَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ

I heard Anas bin Malik al-Ansari saying, "An Ansari man, who was very fat, said to the Prophet, 'I am unable to present myself for the prayer with you.' He prepared a meal for the Prophet ﷺ and invited him to his house. He washed one side of a mat with water and the Prophet ﷺ offered two Rakat on it." So and so, the son of so and so, the son of Al-Jarud asked Anas, "Did the Prophet ﷺ use to offer the Duha prayer?" Anas replied, "I never saw him praying (the Duha prayer) except on that day."

رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ وَكَانَ ضَخْمًا لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنِّي لاَ أَسْتَطِيعُ الصَّلاَةَ مَعَكَ فَصَنَعَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ طَعَامًا فَدَعَاهُ إِلَى بَيْتِهِ وَنَضَحَ لَهُ طَرَفَ حَصِيرٍ بِمَاءٍ فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَقَالَ فُلاَنُ بْنُ فُلاَنِ بْنِ جَارُودٍ لأَنَسٍ ؓ أَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى فَقَالَ مَا رَأَيْتُهُ صَلَّى غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ

A man from the Ansar said: I am a corpulent man-and he was (actually) a fat man; I cannot pray along with you. He prepared food for him and invited him to his house. (he said) (please) pray (here) so that I may see how you pray, and then I would follow you. They (the people) washed one side of their mat. He (the prophet) then got up and prayed two Rak’ahs. Ibn al-Jarud asked Anas b. Malik: would he (the prophet) say the forenoon prayer? He replied: I did not see him offering this prayer except that day.

رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي رَجُلٌ ضَخْمٌ وَكَانَ ضَخْمًا لاَ أَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ مَعَكَ وَصَنَعَ لَهُ طَعَامًا وَدَعَاهُ إِلَى بَيْتِهِ فَصَلِّ حَتَّى أَرَاكَ كَيْفَ تُصَلِّي فَأَقْتَدِيَ بِكَ فَنَضَحُوا لَهُ طَرَفَ حَصِيرٍ كَانَ لَهُمْ فَقَامَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ قَالَ فُلاَنُ بْنُ الْجَارُودِ لأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَكَانَ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى قَالَ لَمْ أَرَهُ صَلَّى إِلاَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ

[AI] To pray with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , a man said to the Prophet ﷺ , "I am unable to pray with you, so if you come to my house and pray, I will follow your lead." So the man prepared food and invited the Prophet ﷺ , who poured some water on a corner of a mat for them to use as a prayer spot. The Prophet ﷺ then prayed two units of prayer. A man from the family of Jarud said to Anas, "Didn't the Prophet ﷺ used to pray the Duha prayer?" Anas replied, "I only saw him pray it on that day."

أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنِّي لَا أَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ مَعَكَ فَلَوْ أَتَيْتَ مَنْزِلِي فَصَلَّيْتَ فَأَقْتَدِيَ بِكَ فَصَنَعَ الرَّجُلُ طَعَامًا ثُمَّ دَعَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَنَضَحَ طَرَفَ حَصِيرٍ لَهُمْ فَصَلَّى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ آلِ الْجَارُودِ لِأَنَسٍ وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى؟ قَالَ مَا رَأَيْتُهُ صَلَّاهَا إِلَّا يَوْمَئِذٍ

[AI] There was a man from the Ansar who was bulky and unable to pray with the Prophet ﷺ . So he said to the Prophet ﷺ , "I am unable to pray with you." The Prophet ﷺ prepared food for him, invited the man ﷺ and spread a mat for him. They showered him with water and he prayed two Rak'ahs. Then a man from the family of Jurud asked him, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray the Duha prayer?" He replied, "I have never seen him prayer it except on that day."

كَانَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ ضَخْمٌ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنِّي لَا أَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ مَعَكَ فَصَنَعَ لَهُ طَعَامًا وَدَعَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَبَسَطُوا لَهُ حَصِيرًا وَنَضَحُوهُ فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ آلِ الْجَارُودِ أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى؟ قَالَ مَا رَأَيْتُهُ صَلَّاهَا إِلَّا يَوْمَئِذٍ

[AI] There was a man from the Ansar who was large and unable to pray with the Prophet ﷺ. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am unable to pray with you." So, the Prophet ﷺ made food for him, invited him, and they spread a mat for him. He performed two raka'at (units) of prayer upon him and a man from the family of Al-Jarood asked him, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray the Duha prayer?" He replied, "I have never seen him pray it except on that day."

[AI] "A man from the Ansar who was known for his size said to the Prophet ﷺ , 'I am unable to pray with you. If you could come to my house and pray there, I would follow your example.' The man prepared some food for the Prophet and invited him to his house. He spread a mat for him to pray on, and the Prophet performed two Rak'ahs (units of prayer) on it. Fulan bin Al-Jarood asked Anas, 'Did the Prophet ﷺ used to pray Duha (forenoon prayer)?' Anas replied, 'I have not seen him praying it except on that day.'"
