'These people are mad' or "possessed." So when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished the Salah, he turned to them and said: 'If you knew what was in store for you with Allah then you would love to be increased in poverty and need.'” Fadalah said: “And on that day, I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” (Hasan)

أَنَّ أَبَا عَلِيٍّ عَمْرَو بْنَ مَالِكٍ الْجَنْبِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا صَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ يَخِرُّ رِجَالٌ مِنْ قَامَتِهِمْ فِي الصَّلاَةِ مِنَ الْخَصَاصَةِ وَهُمْ أَصْحَابُ الصُّفَّةِ حَتَّى تَقُولَ الأَعْرَابُ هَؤُلاَءِ مَجَانِينُ أَوْ مَجَانُونَ فَإِذَا صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ انْصَرَفَ إِلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ مَا لَكُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ لأَحْبَبْتُمْ أَنْ تَزْدَادُوا فَاقَةً وَحَاجَةً قَالَ فَضَالَةُ وَأَنَا يَوْمَئِذٍ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ

[Machine] Abu Ali Al-Janbi told him that he heard Fadalah ibn 'Ubayd narrating that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: When the Prophet ﷺ used to pray with the people, some men would bend themselves in prayer due to their need, even though they were the leaders of their tribes. The Bedouins would say: These people are insane. But when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer, he would say, "If you knew what you have with Allah, you would have loved to increase your poverty and need."

أَنَّ أَبَا عَلِيٍّ الْجَنْبِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ فَضَالَةَ بْنَ عُبَيْدٍ يُحَدِّثُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ يَخِرُّ رِجَالٌ مِنْ قَامَتِهِمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ لِمَا بِهِمْ مِنَ الْحَاجَةِ وَهُمْ أَصْحَابُ الصُّفَّةِ حَتَّى يَقُولَ الْأَعْرَابُ إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ لَمَجَانِينَ فَإِذَا قَضَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلَاتَهُ قَالَ «لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ مَا لَكُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ لَأَحْبَبْتُمْ أَنْ تَزْدَادُوا فَاقَةً وَحَاجَةً»

[Machine] Abu Ali Amr ibn Malik al-Junbi narrated to me that Fadalah ibn 'Ubayd said, "I heard him say, 'When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray with the people, some men would prostrate before he had finished his prayer due to their neediness and they were among the distinguished companions. The Arabs would say, 'These people are insane.' When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer, he would turn to them and say, 'If you knew what you have with Allah, you would love to increase in poverty and neediness.' Fadalah ibn 'Ubayd said, 'I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on that day.'"

[Machine] "Abu Ali Al-Janbi told me that he heard Fadalah ibn Ubayd saying that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led the people in prayer, some men would collapse from their positions in the rows even though they were prominent individuals. The Bedouins would say, 'These people are crazy.' When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished the prayer, he turned towards them and said, 'If you knew what you have with Allah, you would have loved to increase your neediness and poverty.' Fadalah ibn Ubayd said, 'I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on that day.'"
