' Aisha said, "We set out with Messenger of Allah ﷺs in the months of Hajj, and (in) the nights of Hajj, and at the time and places of Hajj and in a state of Hajj. We dismounted at Sarif (a village six miles from Mecca). The Prophet ﷺ then addressed his companions and said, "Anyone who has not got the Hadi and likes to do Umra instead of Hajj may do so (i.e. Hajj-al-Tamattuʿ) and anyone who has got the Hadi should not finish the Ihram after performing ' ʿUmra). (i.e. Hajj-al-Qiran). Aisha added, "The companions of the Prophet ﷺ obeyed the above (order) and some of them (i.e. who did not have Hadi) finished their Ihram after Umra." Messenger of Allah ﷺ and some of his companions were resourceful and had the Hadi with them, they could not perform Umra (alone) (but had to perform both Hajj and Umra with one Ihram). Aisha added, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me and saw me weeping and said, "What makes you weep, O Hantah?" I replied, "I have heard your conversation with your companions and I cannot perform the Umra." He asked, "What is wrong with you?' I replied, ' I do not offer the prayers (i.e. I have my menses).' He said, ' It will not harm you for you are one of the daughters of Adam, and Allah has written for you (this state) as He has written it for them. Keep on with your intentions for Hajj and Allah may reward you that." Aisha further added, "Then we proceeded for Hajj till we reached Mina and I became clean from my menses. Then I went out from Mina and performed Tawaf round the Kaʿba." Aisha added, "I went along with the Prophet ﷺ in his final departure (from Hajj) till he dismounted at Al-Muhassab (a valley outside Mecca), and we too, dismounted with him." He called ' ʿAbdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr and said to him, ' Take your sister outside the sanctuary of Mecca and let her assume Ihram for ' ʿUmra, and when you had finished ' ʿUmra, return to this place and I will wait for you both till you both return to me.' " ' Aisha added, " So we went out of the sanctuary of Mecca and after finishing from the ' ʿUmra and the Tawaf we returned to the Prophet ﷺ at dawn. He said, 'Have you performed the ' ʿUmra?' We replied in the affirmative. So he announced the departure amongst his companions and the people set out for the journey, and the Prophet: too left for Medina.'' (the wife of the Prophet ﷺ We set out with the Prophet ﷺ in his last Hajj and we assumed Ihram for Umra. The Prophet ﷺ then said, "Whoever has the Hadi with him should assume Ihram for Hajj along with ʿUmra and should not finish the Ihram till he finishes both." I was menstruating when I reached Mecca, and so I neither did Tawaf round the Kaʿba nor Tawaf between Safa and Marwa. I complained about that to the Prophet ﷺ on which he replied, "Undo and comb your head hair, and assume Ihram for Hajj (only) and leave the Umra." So, I did so. When we had performed the Hajj, the Prophet sent me with my brother ʿAbdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr to Tanʿim. So I performed the ʿUmra. The Prophet ﷺ said to me, "This ʿUmra is instead of your missed one." Those who had assumed Ihram for ʿUmra (Hajj-atTamattu) performed Tawaf round the Kaʿba and between Safa and Marwa and then finished their Ihram. After returning from Mina, they performed another Tawaf (between Safa and Marwa). Those who had assumed Ihram for Hajj and ʿUmra together (Hajj-al-Qiran) performed only one Tawaf (between Safa and Marwa).

We set out assuming the Ihram for Hajj in the months of Hajj towards the sacred precincts of Hajj. We dismounted at Sarif and the Prophet ﷺ said to his companions, "Whoever has not got the Hadi with him and likes to make it as ʿUmra, he should do it, but he who has got the Hadi with him should not do it." The Prophet ﷺ and some of his wealthy companions had the Hadi with them, so they did not finish Ihram after performing the ʿUmra. The Prophet ﷺ came to me while I was weeping. He asked me the reason for it. I replied, "I have heard of what you have said to your companions and I cannot do the ʿUmra." He asked me, "What is the matter with you?" I replied, "I am not praying." He said, "There is no harm in it as you are one of the daughters of Adam and the same is written for you as for others. So, you should perform Hajj and I hope that Allah will enable you to perform the ʿUmra as well." So, I carried on till we departed from Mina and halted at Al-Mahassab. The Prophet ﷺ called ʿAbdur- Rahman and said, "Go out of the sanctuary with your sister and let her assume Ihram for ʿUmra, and after both of you have finished the Tawaf I will be waiting for you at this place." We came back at midnight and the Prophet ﷺ asked us, "Have you finished?" I replied in the affirmative. He announced the departure and the people set out for the journey and some of them had performed the Tawaf of the Kaʿba before the morning prayer, and after that the Prophet ﷺ set out for Medina.

We went out with Messenger of Allah ﷺ during Hajjat-ul-Wadaʿ and we assumed the Ihram for ʿUmra. Then Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to us, "Whoever has got the Hadi should assume the Ihram for Hajj and ʿUmra and should not finish his Ihram till he has performed both (ʿUmra and Hajj)." I arrived at Mecca along with him (i.e. the Prophet ﷺ ) while I was menstruating, so I did not perform the Tawaf around the Kaʿba or between Safa and Marwa. I informed Messenger of Allah ﷺ about that and he said, "Undo your braids and comb your hair, and then assume the lhram for Hajj and leave the ʿUmra." I did so, and when we performed and finished the Hajj, Messenger of Allah ﷺs sent me to at-Tanʿim along with (my brother) ʿAbdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, to perform the ʿUmra. The Prophet ﷺ said, "This ʿUmra is in lieu of your missed ʿUmra." Those who had assumed the lhram for ʿUmra, performed the Tawaf around the Kaʿba and between Safa and Marwa, and then finished their Ihram, and on their return from Mina, they performed another Tawaf (around the Kaʿba and between Safa and Marwa), but those who combined their Hajj and ʿUmra, performed only one Tawaf (between Safa and Marwa) (for both).

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَأَهْلَلْنَا بِعُمْرَةٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ هَدْىٌ فَلْيُهْلِلْ بِالْحَجِّ مَعَ الْعُمْرَةِ ثُمَّ لاَ يَحِلَّ حَتَّى يَحِلَّ مِنْهُمَا جَمِيعًا فَقَدِمْتُ مَعَهُ مَكَّةَ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ وَلَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ وَلاَ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَشَكَوْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ انْقُضِي رَأْسَكِ وَامْتَشِطِي وَأَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ وَدَعِي الْعُمْرَةَ فَفَعَلْتُ فَلَمَّا قَضَيْنَا الْحَجَّ أَرْسَلَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَعَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَاعْتَمَرْتُ فَقَالَ هَذِهِ مَكَانَ عُمْرَتِكِ قَالَتْ فَطَافَ الَّذِينَ أَهَلُّوا بِالْعُمْرَةِ بِالْبَيْتِ وَبَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ثُمَّ حَلُّوا ثُمَّ طَافُوا طَوَافًا آخَرَ بَعْدَ أَنْ رَجَعُوا مِنْ مِنًى وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ جَمَعُوا الْحَجَّ وَالْعُمْرَةَ فَإِنَّمَا طَافُوا طَوَافًا وَاحِدًا

We went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the year of the Farewell Pilgrimage. We entered into the state of Ihram for Umra. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Who has the sacrificial animal with him, he should put on Ihram for Hajj along with Umra. and should not put it off till he has completed them (both Hajj and Umra). She said: When I came to Mecca. I was having menses, I neither circumambulated the House, nor ran between as-safa' and al-Marwa. I complained about it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said: Undo your hair, comb it, and pronounce Talbiya for Hajj, and give up Umra (for the time being), which I did. When we had performed the Hajj, the Messenger of Allah (way peace he upon him) sent me with Abd al-Rabman b. Abu Bakr to Tan'im saying: This is the place for your Umra. Those who had put on Ihram for Umra circumambulated the House, and ran between al-safa' and al-Marwa. They then put off Ihram and then made the last circuit after they had returned from Mina after performing their Hajj, but those who had combined the Hajj and the Umra made only one circuit (as they had combined Hajj and 'Umra).

We went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with no other aim but that of Hajj till we came (to the place known as) Sarif; and there I entered in the state of menses. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me while I was weeping. He said: What makes you weep? I said: Would that I had not come (for Pilgrimage) this year. He (the Holy Prophet) said: What has happened to you? You have perhaps entered the period of menses. I said: Yes. He said: This is what has been ordained for the daughters of Adam. Do what a pilgrim does except that you should not circumambulate the House, till you are purified (of the menses). She ('A'isha) said: When I came to Mecca, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his companions: Make this (Ihram) the Ihram for 'Umra. So the people put off Ihram except those who had sacrificial animals with them. She ('A'isha) said: The Apostle of Allah ﷺ had the sacrificial animal with him, and so had Abu Bakr, 'Umar and other persons of means. They (those who had put off Ihram again) put on Ihram (for Hajj) when they marched (towards Mina), and it was the 8th of Dhu'l-Hijja. She ('A'isha) said: When it was the day of sacrifice (10th of Dhu'l-Hijja), I was purified, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded me and I did the circumambulation of Ifada. She said that the flesh of cow was sent to us. I said: What is it? They said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has offered a cow as sacrifice on behalf of his wives. When it was the night at Hasba, I said: Messenger of Allah, people are coming back from Hajj and Umra, where as I am coming back from Hajj (alone). She (A'isha) reported: He (the Holy Prophet) commanded" Abd al-Rahman b. Abu Bakr to mount me upon his camel behind him. She ('A'isha) said: I was very young and I well remember that I dozed off and my face touched the hind part of the haudaj (camel litter) till we came to Tan'im, and entered into the state of Ihram in lieu of Umra (which I for the time being abandoned) and which the people had performed.

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ نَذْكُرُ إِلاَّ الْحَجَّ حَتَّى جِئْنَا سَرِفَ فَطَمِثْتُ فَدَخَلَ عَلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا يُبْكِيكِ فَقُلْتُ وَاللَّهِ لَوَدِدْتُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ خَرَجْتُ الْعَامَ قَالَ مَا لَكِ لَعَلَّكِ نَفِسْتِ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ هَذَا شَىْءٌ كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ افْعَلِي مَا يَفْعَلُ الْحَاجُّ غَيْرَ أَنْ لاَ تَطُوفِي بِالْبَيْتِ حَتَّى تَطْهُرِي قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْتُ مَكَّةَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لأَصْحَابِهِ اجْعَلُوهَا عُمْرَةً فَأَحَلَّ النَّاسُ إِلاَّ مَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ الْهَدْىُ قَالَتْ فَكَانَ الْهَدْىُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَذَوِي الْيَسَارَةِ ثُمَّ أَهَلُّوا حِينَ رَاحُوا قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ طَهَرْتُ فَأَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَفَضْتُ قَالَتْ فَأُتِينَا بِلَحْمِ بَقَرٍ فَقُلْتُ مَا هَذَا فَقَالُوا أَهْدَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ نِسَائِهِ الْبَقَرَ فَلَمَّا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةُ الْحَصْبَةِ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يَرْجِعُ النَّاسُ بِحَجَّةٍ وَعُمْرَةٍ وَأَرْجِعُ بِحَجَّةٍ قَالَتْ فَأَمَرَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَأَرْدَفَنِي عَلَى جَمَلِهِ قَالَتْ فَإِنِّي لأَذْكُرُ وَأَنَا جَارِيَةٌ حَدِيثَةُ السِّنِّ أَنْعُسُ فَتُصِيبُ وَجْهِي مُؤْخِرَةُ الرَّحْلِ حَتَّى جِئْنَا إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَأَهْلَلْتُ مِنْهَا بِعُمْرَةٍ جَزَاءً بِعُمْرَةِ النَّاسِ الَّتِي اعْتَمَرُوا

We proceeded with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ putting on the Ihram for Hajj during the months of Hajj and the night of Hajj till we encamped at Sarif. He (the Holy Prophet) went to his Companions and said: He who has no sacrificial animal with him, in his case I wish that he should perform Umra (with this Ihram), and he who has the sacrificial animal with him should not do it. So some of them performed Hajj whereas others who had no sacrificial animals with them did not do (Hajj, but performed only 'Umra). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a sacrificial animal with him and those too who could afford it (performed) Hajj). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me (i. e. A'isha) while I was weeping, and he said: What makes you weep? I said: I heard your talk with Companions about Umra. He said: What has happened to you? I said: I do not observe prayer (due to the monthly period), whereupon he said: It would not harm you; you should perform (during this time) the rituals of Hajj (which you can do outside the House). Maybe Allah will compensate you for this. You are one among the daughters of Adam and Allah has ordained for you as He has ordained for them. So I proceeded on (with the rituals of Hajj) till we came to Mina. I washed myself and then circumambulated the House, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ encamped at Muhassab and called, Abd al-Rahman b. Abu Bakr. and said: Take out your sister from the precincts of the Ka'ba in order to put on Ihram for Umra and circumambulate the House. and I shall wait for you here. She said: So I went out and put on Ihram and then circumambulated the House, and (ran) between al-Safa and al-Marwa, and then we came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he was in his house in the middle of the night. He said: Have you completed your (rituals)? I said: Yes. He then announced to his Companions to march on. He came out, and went to the House and circumambulated it before the dawn prayer and then proceeded to Medina.

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مُهِلِّينَ بِالْحَجِّ فِي أَشْهُرِ الْحَجِّ وَفِي حُرُمِ الْحَجِّ وَلَيَالِي الْحَجِّ حَتَّى نَزَلْنَا بِسَرِفَ فَخَرَجَ إِلَى أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ مِنْكُمْ هَدْىٌ فَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يَجْعَلَهَا عُمْرَةً فَلْيَفْعَلْ وَمَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ هَدْىٌ فَلاَ فَمِنْهُمُ الآخِذُ بِهَا وَالتَّارِكُ لَهَا مِمَّنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْىٌ فَأَمَّا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَكَانَ مَعَهُ الْهَدْىُ وَمَعَ رِجَالٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ لَهُمْ قُوَّةٌ فَدَخَلَ عَلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا يُبْكِيكِ قُلْتُ سَمِعْتُ كَلاَمَكَ مَعَ أَصْحَابِكَ فَسَمِعْتُ بِالْعُمْرَةِ فَمُنِعْتُ الْعُمْرَةَ قَالَ وَمَا لَكِ قُلْتُ لاَ أُصَلِّي قَالَ فَلاَ يَضُرُّكِ فَكُونِي فِي حَجِّكِ فَعَسَى اللَّهُ أَنْ يَرْزُقَكِيهَا وَإِنَّمَا أَنْتِ مِنْ بَنَاتِ آدَمَ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكِ مَا كَتَبَ عَلَيْهِنَّ قَالَتْ فَخَرَجْتُ فِي حَجَّتِي حَتَّى نَزَلْنَا مِنًى فَتَطَهَّرْتُ ثُمَّ طُفْنَا بِالْبَيْتِ وَنَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْمُحَصَّبَ فَدَعَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ اخْرُجْ بِأُخْتِكَ مِنَ الْحَرَمِ فَلْتُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ ثُمَّ لْتَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ فَإِنِّي أَنْتَظِرُكُمَا هَا هُنَا قَالَتْ فَخَرَجْنَا فَأَهْلَلْتُ ثُمَّ طُفْتُ بِالْبَيْتِ وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَجِئْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ مِنْ جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ هَلْ فَرَغْتِ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَآذَنَ فِي أَصْحَابِهِ بِالرَّحِيلِ فَخَرَجَ فَمَرَّ بِالْبَيْتِ فَطَافَ بِهِ قَبْلَ صَلاَةِ الصُّبْحِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ

We, in the state of lhram, came with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for Hajj Mufrad (with the aim of Hajj only), and 'A'isha set out for Umra, and when we reached Sarif, she (Hadrat A'isha) entered in the state of monthly period; we proceeded on till we reached (Mecca) and circumambulated the Ka'ba and ran between (al-Safa) and al-Marwa; and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded that one who amongst us had no sacrificial animal with him should put off Ihram. We said: What does this "putting off" imply? He said: Getting out completely from the state of lhram, (so we put off Ihram), and we turned to our wives and applied perfume and put on our clothes. and we were at a four night's distance from 'Arafa. And we again put on Ihram on the day of Tarwiya (8th of Dhu'l-Hijja). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) and found her weeping, and said: What is the matter with you? She said: The matter is that I have entered in the monthly period, and the people had put off lhram, but I did not and I did not circumambulate the House, and the people are going for Hajj now (but I can't go), whereupon he said: It is the matter which Allah has ordained for the daughters of Adam, so now take a bath and put on Ihram for Hajj. She ('A'isha) did accordingly, and stayed at the places of staying till the monthly period was over. She then circumambulated the House, and (ran between) al-Safa and al-Marwa. He (the Holy Prophet) then said: Now both your Hajj and 'Umra are complete, whereupon she said: I feel in my mind that I did not circumambulate the House till I performed Hajj (I missed the circumambulation of 'Umra). Thereupon he (Allah's Apostle) said: 'Abd al-Rahman, take her to Tan'im (so as to enable her) to perform Umra (separately), and it was the night at Hasba.

مسلم:١٢١٣أحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ جَمِيعًا عَنِ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ قُتَيْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ ؓ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَقْبَلْنَا مُهِلِّينَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِحَجٍّ مُفْرَدٍ وَأَقْبَلَتْ عَائِشَةُ ؓ بِعُمْرَةٍ حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا بِسَرِفَ عَرَكَتْ حَتَّى إِذَا قَدِمْنَا طُفْنَا بِالْكَعْبَةِ وَالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَحِلَّ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْىٌ قَالَ فَقُلْنَا حِلُّ مَاذَا قَالَ الْحِلُّ كُلُّهُ فَوَاقَعْنَا النِّسَاءَ وَتَطَيَّبْنَا بِالطِّيبِ وَلَبِسْنَا ثِيَابَنَا وَلَيْسَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ عَرَفَةَ إِلاَّ أَرْبَعُ لَيَالٍ ثُمَّ أَهْلَلْنَا يَوْمَ التَّرْوِيَةِ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ ؓ فَوَجَدَهَا تَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا شَانُكِ قَالَتْ شَانِي أَنِّي قَدْ حِضْتُ وَقَدْ حَلَّ النَّاسُ وَلَمْ أَحْلِلْ وَلَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ وَالنَّاسُ يَذْهَبُونَ إِلَى الْحَجِّ الآنَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا أَمْرٌ كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ فَاغْتَسِلِي ثُمَّ أَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ فَفَعَلَتْ وَوَقَفَتِ الْمَوَاقِفَ حَتَّى إِذَا طَهَرَتْ طَافَتْ بِالْكَعْبَةِ وَالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ قَدْ حَلَلْتِ مِنْ حَجِّكِ وَعُمْرَتِكِ جَمِيعًا فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أَجِدُ فِي نَفْسِي أَنِّي لَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ حَتَّى حَجَجْتُ قَالَ فَاذْهَبْ بِهَا يَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ فَأَعْمِرْهَا مِنَ التَّنْعِيمِ وَذَلِكَ لَيْلَةَ الْحَصْبَةِ

We went out with the Messenger of Allah (SWAS) at the farewell pilgrimage and raised the voice in talbiyah for an ‘Umrah. The Apostel of Allah (SWAS) said those who have brought the sacrificial animals with them should raise their voices in talbiyah for Hajj along with an ‘Umrah and they should not put off their Ihram till they do so after performing them both. I came to Makkah while I was menstruating and I did not go round the House (the Ka’bah) or run between al-Safa and al-Marwah. I complained about this to the Messenger of Allah (SWAS) he said: Undo your hair, comb it and raise your voice in talbiyah for Hajj and let ʿUmrah go. She said I did so. When we performed Hajj, the Messenger of Allah (SWAS) sent me along with ʿAbd al-Rahman bin Abu Bakr to al-Ta’nim and I performed ʿUmrah. He said, this is ʿUmrah in place of the one you had missed. She said those who had raised their voices in talbiyah for ʿUmrah put off Ihram after circumambulating the House (the Ka’bah) and after running between al-Safa and al-Marwa. Then they performed another circumambulation for their Hajj after they returned from Mina but those who combined Hajj and ʿUmrah performed only one circumambulation.

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَأَهْلَلْنَا بِعُمْرَةٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ هَدْىٌ فَلْيُهِلَّ بِالْحَجِّ مَعَ الْعُمْرَةِ ثُمَّ لاَ يَحِلُّ حَتَّى يَحِلَّ مِنْهُمَا جَمِيعًا فَقَدِمْتُ مَكَّةَ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ وَلَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ وَلاَ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَشَكَوْتُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ انْقُضِي رَأْسَكِ وَامْتَشِطِي وَأَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ وَدَعِي الْعُمْرَةَ قَالَتْ فَفَعَلْتُ فَلَمَّا قَضَيْنَا الْحَجَّ أَرْسَلَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَعَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَاعْتَمَرْتُ فَقَالَ هَذِهِ مَكَانَ عُمْرَتِكِ قَالَتْ فَطَافَ الَّذِينَ أَهَلُّوا بِالْعُمْرَةِ بِالْبَيْتِ وَبَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ثُمَّ حَلُّوا ثُمَّ طَافُوا طَوَافًا آخَرَ بَعْدَ أَنْ رَجَعُوا مِنْ مِنًى لِحَجِّهِمْ وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ كَانُوا جَمَعُوا الْحَجَّ وَالْعُمْرَةَ فَإِنَّمَا طَافُوا طَوَافًا وَاحِدًا

قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ رَوَاهُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ وَمَعْمَرٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ نَحْوَهُ لَمْ يَذْكُرُوا طَوَافَ الَّذِينَ أَهَلُّوا بِعُمْرَةٍ وَطَوَافَ الَّذِينَ جَمَعُوا الْحَجَّ وَالْعُمْرَةَ

Jabir said “We went out along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raising our voices in talbiyah for Hakk alone(Ifrad) while A’ishah raised her voice in talbiyah for an ‘Umrah. When she reached Sarif, she menstruated. When we came to (Makkah) we circumambulated the Ka’bah and ran between al Safa’ and al Marwah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then commanded us that those who had not brought sacrificial animals withthem should put off their ihram (after ‘Umrah). We asked “Which acts are lawful(and which not)? He replied All acts are lawful (that are permissible usually). We had therefore intercourse with our wives, used perfumes, put on our clothes. There remained only four days to perform Hajj at ‘Arafah. We then raised our voice in talbiyah (wearing Ihram for Hajj) on the eighth of Dhu al Hijjah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon A’ishah and found her weeping. He said What is the matter with you? My problem is that I have menstruated, while the people have put on their ihram but I have not done so, nor did I go round the House(the Ka’bah). Now the people are proceeding for Hajj. He said This is a thing destined by Allah to the daughters of Adam. Take a bath, then raise your voice in talbiyah for Hajj(i.e, wear ihram for Hajj). She took a abtah and performed all the rites of the Hajj(lit. she stayed at all those places where the pilgrims stay). When she was purified, she circumambulated the House (the Ka’bah), and ran between al Safa’ and al Marwah. He (the Prophet) said “Now you have performed both your Hajj and your ‘Umrah. She said Messenger of Allah, I have some misgiving in my mind that I did not go round the Ka’bah when I performed Hajj (in the beginning). He said ‘Abd al Rahman (her brother), take her and have her perform ‘Umrah from Al Tan’im. This happened on the night of Al Hasbah(i.e., the fourteenth of Dhu Al Hijjah).

"We came in Ihram with the Messenger of Allah for Hajj alone (Mufrad), and 'Aishah came in Ihram for 'Umrah. Then, whe we were in Sarif her menses started. When we came, we circumambulated the Ka'bah and (performed Sa'i) between As-safa and Al-Marwah. Then, the Messenger of Allah commanded those of us who did not have a Hadi to exit Ihram. We said: 'Exit Ihram to what degree?' He said" 'Completely.' So we had intercourse with out, wives put on perfume, and wore only four nights away from 'Arafat. The, we entered Ihram on the day of At-Tarwiyah. The Messenger of Allah entered upon 'Aishah and found here weeping. He said: 'What is the matter with you?' She said: 'I have got my menses and the people exited Ihram, but I did not exit Ihram or did I circumambulate the House, and the people are going for Hajj now.' He said: 'This is something that Allah ahs decreed for the daughters of Adam. Perform Ghusl, then begin the Talbiyah for Hajj.' So she did that and did all the rituals. Then, when she became pure, she circumambulated the House and (Performed Sa'i) between As-Safa and Al-Marwah. Then, he said: 'You have exited Ihram from your Hajj and your 'Umrah at the same time." She said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I feel upset because I only circumambulated the House during my Hajj.' He said: 'Take here, O 'Abdullah, to perform 'Umrah from At-Tan'im.' And that was on the night of Al-Hasbah (the twelfth night of Dhul-Hijjah)."

"We set out with the Messenger of Allah for the Farewell Pligrimage and we entered Ihram for 'Umrah, then the Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever has a Hadi with him, let him enter Ihram for both Hajj and 'Umrah, then do not exit Ihram until he exits Ihram for them both.' I came to Makkah and I had my menses, so I did not circumambulate the House or (Perform Sa'i) between As-Safa and Al-Marwah. I complained about that to the Messenger of Allah and he said: 'Undo your hair, and comb it, and enter Ihram for Hajj, and leave 'Umrah.' When I had completed Hajj, the Messenger of Allah sent me with 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Bakr to At-Tan'im, and I performed 'Umrah. He said: 'This is the place of your 'Umrah.' Then those who had entered Ihram for 'Umar circumambulated the House and (performed Sa'i) between As-Safa and Al-Marwah. Then they exited Ihram, then they performed Tawaf again, after they came back from Mina for their Hajj. As for those who combined Hajj and 'Umrah, they only performed one Tawaf."

He said, 'Indeed, this is something that Allah has ordained for the daughters of Adam. So purify yourself and prepare for Hajj.' She said, 'I did that, and when I purified myself, he said, 'Circumambulate the Kaaba between Safa and Marwa, then you may be released from your Hajj and Umrah obligations.' She said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I feel inside me that I did not complete my Umrah before performing Hajj.' When I had completed Hajj, the Messenger of Allah sent me with 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Bakr to At-Tan'im, and I performed 'Umrah. He said: 'This is the place of your 'Umrah.' Then those who had entered Ihram for 'Umar circumambulated the House and (performed Sa'i) between As-Safa and Al-Marwah. Then they exited Ihram, then they performed Tawaf again, after they came back from Mina for their Hajj. As for those who combined Hajj and 'Umrah, they only performed one Tawaf." [AI] Aisha said: We left with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and we only mentioned Hajj. When we arrived at Sarif, I experienced menstruation. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me while I was crying, and he said, "What is making you cry?" I said, "I wish I had not performed 'Umrah this year." He said, "Perhaps you are expecting your period." I said, "Yes." He said, "This is something that Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam, so do what the pilgrims do, except do not perform tawaf around the Ka'bah until you are purified." When we arrived in Makkah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his companions, "Make it 'Umrah." So people assumed ihram except those who had brought sacrifices, and the sacrificial animals were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , Abu Bakr, Umar, and those who had brought their sacrificial animals. Then they proceeded for Hajj after 'Umrah. When it was the Day of Sacrifice, I purified myself and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to perform tawaf. I said, "What is this?" They said, "This is a cow that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had sacrificed on behalf of his wives." When it was the night of Hasbah, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, people are returning with the Hajj and 'Umrah, and I am returning with the Hajj only." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr to accompany me on his camel. She said, "I remember, while I was a young girl, that I would fall asleep and my face would hit the back of the saddle until he brought me to Tan'im. Then I performed 'Umrah as compensation for the previous 'Umrah."

Yahya related to me from Malik, from Muhammad ibn Abd ar-Rahman, from Sulayman ibn Yasar, that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out for hajj in the year of the farewell hajj, some of his companions went into ihram to do hajj on its own, some of them combined hajj and umra, and some went into ihram to do umra on its own. Those who had gone into ihram to do hajj, or hajj and umra together, did not come out of ihram, whils tthose who had gone into ihram to doumra (on its own) came out of ihram.

مالك:٢٠-٤٢وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَامَ حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ خَرَجَ إِلَى الْحَجِّ فَمِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِحَجٍّ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ جَمَعَ الْحَجَّ وَالْعُمْرَةَ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِحَجٍّ أَوْ جَمَعَ الْحَجَّ وَالْعُمْرَةَ فَلَمْ يَحْلِلْ وَأَمَّا مَنْ كَانَ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَحَلُّوا وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ بَعْضَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ يَقُولُونَ مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ ثُمَّ بَدَا لَهُ أَنْ يُهِلَّ بِحَجٍّ مَعَهَا فَذَلِكَ لَهُ مَا لَمْ يَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ وَبَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ وَقَدْ صَنَعَ ذَلِكَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ حِينَ قَالَ إِنْ صُدِدْتُ عَنِ الْبَيْتِ صَنَعْنَا كَمَا صَنَعْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ الْتَفَتَ إِلَى أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ مَا أَمْرُهُمَا إِلاَّ وَاحِدٌ أُشْهِدُكُمْ أَنِّي أَوْجَبْتُ الْحَجَّ مَعَ الْعُمْرَةِ قَالَ مَالِكٌ وَقَدْ أَهَلَّ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَامَ حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ بِالْعُمْرَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ هَدْىٌ فَلْيُهْلِلْ بِالْحَجِّ مَعَ الْعُمْرَةِ ثُمَّ لاَ يَحِلُّ حَتَّى يَحِلَّ مِنْهُمَا جَمِيعًا

Yahya related to me from Abd ar-Rahman ibn al-Qasim, from his father that A'isha, umm al-muminin, said, "We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the year of the farewell hajj and we went into ihram for umra. Afterwards, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever has a sacrificial animal with him should go into ihram for hajj and umra together, and he should not leave ihram without leaving ihram for both of them at the same time.' " She continued "I was menstruating when I got to Makka, so I did not do tawaf of the House or say between Safa and Marwa. I complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said, 'Undo your hair and comb it and leave the umra and go back into ihram for the hajj.' " She said, "I did so, and when we had completed the hajj, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me with Abd ar-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr as-Siddiq to at-Tanim and I performed an umra and he said, 'This is in place of your umra.' " "Those who had entered ihram for the umra did tawaf of the House and say between Safa and Marwa, then left ihram. Then they did another tawaf after returning from Mina for their hajj, whereas those who entered ihram for the hajj or combined the hajj and the umra, only did one tawaf." Yahya related the same as that to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Urwa ibn az-Zubayr from A'isha.

ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ الْأَخْبَارَ الثَّلَاثَةَ الَّتِي ذَكَرْنَاهَا قَبْلُ فِي الْإِهْلَالِ بِالْحَجِّ خَالِصًا أُرِيدَ بِهِ أَنَّ بَعْضَ الصَّحَابَةِ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ لَا الْكُلَّ

' Aisha said, "We set out with Messenger of Allah ﷺs in the months of Hajj, and (in) the nights of Hajj, and at the time and places of Hajj and in a state of Hajj. We dismounted at Sarif (a village six miles from Mecca). The Prophet ﷺ then addressed his companions and said, "Anyone who has not got the Hadi and likes to do Umra instead of Hajj may do so (i.e. Hajj-al-Tamattuʿ) and anyone who has got the Hadi should not finish the Ihram after performing ' ʿUmra). (i.e. Hajj-al-Qiran). Aisha added, "The companions of the Prophet ﷺ obeyed the above (order) and some of them (i.e. who did not have Hadi) finished their Ihram after Umra." Messenger of Allah ﷺ and some of his companions were resourceful and had the Hadi with them, they could not perform Umra (alone) (but had to perform both Hajj and Umra with one Ihram). Aisha added, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me and saw me weeping and said, "What makes you weep, O Hantah?" I replied, "I have heard your conversation with your companions and I cannot perform the Umra." He asked, "What is wrong with you?' I replied, ' I do not offer the prayers (i.e. I have my menses).' He said, ' It will not harm you for you are one of the daughters of Adam, and Allah has written for you (this state) as He has written it for them. Keep on with your intentions for Hajj and Allah may reward you that." Aisha further added, "Then we proceeded for Hajj till we reached Mina and I became clean from my menses. Then I went out from Mina and performed Tawaf round the Kaʿba." Aisha added, "I went along with the Prophet ﷺ in his final departure (from Hajj) till he dismounted at Al-Muhassab (a valley outside Mecca), and we too, dismounted with him." He called ' ʿAbdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr and said to him, ' Take your sister outside the sanctuary of Mecca and let her assume Ihram for ' ʿUmra, and when you had finished ' ʿUmra, return to this place and I will wait for you both till you both return to me.' " ' Aisha added, " So we went out of the sanctuary of Mecca and after finishing from the ' ʿUmra and the Tawaf we returned to the Prophet ﷺ at dawn. He said, 'Have you performed the ' ʿUmra?' We replied in the affirmative. So he announced the departure amongst his companions and the people set out for the journey, and the Prophet: too left for Medina.'' خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي أَشْهُرِ الْحَجِّ وَلَيَالِي الْحَجِّ وَحَرَمِ الْحَجِّ حَتَّى نَزَلْنَا بِسَرِفَ قَالَتْ فَخَرَجَ إِلَى أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ «مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْيٌ وَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يَجْعَلَهَا عَمْرَةً فَلْيَفْعَلْ وَمَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ الْهَدْيُ فَلَا» قَالَتْ فَالْآخِذُ بِهَا وَالتَّارِكُ لَهَا مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ قَالَتْ فَأَمَّا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَرِجَالٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَكَانُوا أَهَلَ قُوَّةٍ وَكَانَ مَعَهُمُ الْهَدْيُ فَلَمْ يَقْدِرُوا عَلَى الْعُمْرَةِ قَالَتْ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي فَقَالَ «مَا يُبْكِيكِ يَا هَنْتَاهُ؟ ‍» قُلْتُ قَدْ سَمِعْتُ قَوْلَكَ لِأَصْحَابِكَ فَمُنِعْتُ الْعُمْرَةَ قَالَ «وَمَا شَأْنُكِ؟ » قُلْتُ لَا أُصَلِّي قَالَ «فَلَا يَضُرُّكِ إِنَّمَا أَنْتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ بَنَاتِ آدَمَ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكِ مَا كَتَبَ عَلَيْهِنَّ فَكُونِي فِي حَجَّتِكِ فَعَسَى أَنْ تُدْرِكِيهَا» قَالَتْ فَخَرَجْنَا فِي حَجَّتِهِ حَتَّى قَدِمْنَا مِنًى فَطَهَرْتُ ثُمَّ خَرَجْتُ مِنْ مِنًى فَأَفَضْتُ الْبَيْتَ قَالَتْ ثُمَّ خَرَجْتُ مَعَهُ فِي النَّفْرِ الْآخَرِ حَتَّى نَزَلَ الْمُحَصَّبُ وَنَزَلْنَا مَعَهُ فَدَعَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ «اخْرُجْ بِأُخْتِكَ مِنَ الْحَرَمِ فَلْتُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ ثُمَّ افْرُغَا ثُمَّ ائْتِيَا هَاهُنَا فَإِنِّي أَنْظُرُكُمَا حَتَّى تَأْتِيَانِي» قَالَتْ فَخَرَجْتُ لِذَلِكَ حَتَّى فَرَغْتُ وَفَرَغْتُ مِنَ الطَّوَافِ ثُمَّ جِئْتُهُ سَحْرًا فَقَالَ «هَلْ فَرَغْتُمْ؟ » قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَآذَنَ بِالرَّحِيلِ فِي أَصْحَابِهِ فَارْتَحَلَ النَّاسُ فَمَرَّ بِالْبَيْتِ قَبْلَ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ فَطَافَ بِهِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَرَكِبَ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ مُتَوَجِّهًا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ»

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَأَهْلَلْنَا بِعُمْرَةٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ هَدْيٌ فَلْيُهْلِلْ بِالْحَجِّ وَالْعُمْرَةِ ثُمَّ لَا يَحِلُّ حَتَّى يَحِلَّ مِنْهُمَا جَمِيعًا» قَالَتْ فَطَافَ الَّذِينَ أَهَلُّوا بِالْعُمْرَةِ بِالْبَيْتِ وَبَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ثُمَّ أَحَلُّوا ثُمَّ طَافُوا طَوَافًا آخَرَ بَعْدَ أَنْ رَجَعُوا مِنْ مِنًى لِحَجِّهِمْ وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ أَهَلُّوا بِالْحَجِّ وَجَمَعُوا بَيْنَ الْحَجِّ وَالْعُمْرَةِ فَإِنَّمَا طَافُوا طَوَافًا وَاحِدًا قَالَتْ فَقَدِمْتُ مَكَّةَ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ لَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ وَلَا بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَشَكَوْتُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «انْقُضِي رَأْسَكِ وَامْتَشِطِي وَأَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ وَدَعِي الْعُمْرَةَ» قَالَتْ فَفَعَلْتُ فَلَمَّا قَضَيْنَا الْحَجَّ أَرْسَلَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَعَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَاعْتَمَرْتُ فَقَالَ «هَذِهِ مَكَانُ عُمْرَتِكِ»

"We set out with the Messenger of Allah for the Farewell Pligrimage and we entered Ihram for 'Umrah, then the Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever has a Hadi with him, let him enter Ihram for both Hajj and 'Umrah, then do not exit Ihram until he exits Ihram for them both.' I came to Makkah and I had my menses, so I did not circumambulate the House or (Perform Sa'i) between As-Safa and Al-Marwah. I complained about that to the Messenger of Allah and he said: 'Undo your hair, and comb it, and enter Ihram for Hajj, and leave 'Umrah.' When I had completed Hajj, the Messenger of Allah sent me with 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Bakr to At-Tan'im, and I performed 'Umrah. He said: 'This is the place of your 'Umrah.' Then those who had entered Ihram for 'Umar circumambulated the House and (performed Sa'i) between As-Safa and Al-Marwah. Then they exited Ihram, then they performed Tawaf again, after they came back from Mina for their Hajj. As for those who combined Hajj and 'Umrah, they only performed one Tawaf." ' Aisha said, "We set out with Messenger of Allah ﷺs in the months of Hajj, and (in) the nights of Hajj, and at the time and places of Hajj and in a state of Hajj. We dismounted at Sarif (a village six miles from Mecca). The Prophet ﷺ then addressed his companions and said, "Anyone who has not got the Hadi and likes to do Umra instead of Hajj may do so (i.e. Hajj-al-Tamattuʿ) and anyone who has got the Hadi should not finish the Ihram after performing ' ʿUmra). (i.e. Hajj-al-Qiran). Aisha added, "The companions of the Prophet ﷺ obeyed the above (order) and some of them (i.e. who did not have Hadi) finished their Ihram after Umra." Messenger of Allah ﷺ and some of his companions were resourceful and had the Hadi with them, they could not perform Umra (alone) (but had to perform both Hajj and Umra with one Ihram). Aisha added, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me and saw me weeping and said, "What makes you weep, O Hantah?" I replied, "I have heard your conversation with your companions and I cannot perform the Umra." He asked, "What is wrong with you?' I replied, ' I do not offer the prayers (i.e. I have my menses).' He said, ' It will not harm you for you are one of the daughters of Adam, and Allah has written for you (this state) as He has written it for them. Keep on with your intentions for Hajj and Allah may reward you that." Aisha further added, "Then we proceeded for Hajj till we reached Mina and I became clean from my menses. Then I went out from Mina and performed Tawaf round the Kaʿba." Aisha added, "I went along with the Prophet ﷺ in his final departure (from Hajj) till he dismounted at Al-Muhassab (a valley outside Mecca), and we too, dismounted with him." He called ' ʿAbdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr and said to him, ' Take your sister outside the sanctuary of Mecca and let her assume Ihram for ' ʿUmra, and when you had finished ' ʿUmra, return to this place and I will wait for you both till you both return to me.' " ' Aisha added, " So we went out of the sanctuary of Mecca and after finishing from the ' ʿUmra and the Tawaf we returned to the Prophet ﷺ at dawn. He said, 'Have you performed the ' ʿUmra?' We replied in the affirmative. So he announced the departure amongst his companions and the people set out for the journey, and the Prophet: too left for Medina.'' [AI] We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as pilgrims, desiring only the Hajj and intending nothing else. But when it reached the days of Sarif, Aisha menstruated and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon her while she was crying. He asked, "What makes you cry?" She said, "I have been afflicted with menstrual bleeding." He said, "You are from the daughters of Adam, and this is what afflicts them." We arrived in Mecca for four nights, free from the days of Hajj, so we performed Tawaf around the Ka'bah and Sa'i between Safa and Marwa, as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to do. We were conversing among ourselves, saying, "We have gone out as pilgrims, desiring only the Hajj and intending nothing else, until there is only four nights between us and Arafat." Our impurities were dripping from the women, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was informed about that. He stood up to deliver a sermon, saying, "Indeed, Umrah is included in Hajj. If I had not brought the sacrificial animal, I would have dismounted. So whoever does not have a sacrificial animal with him should deconsecrate his Ihram." Surqah bin Malik bin Ju'shum Al-Mudlaji said, "O Messenger of Allah, tell us about a people who were born today. Is this Umrah of ours for this year only or forever?" He said, "Forever." So we came to Arafat, and when it was time to leave, Aisha said, "O Messenger of Allah, you all performed Tawaf around the Ka'bah and Sa'i between Safa and Marwa, but I did not perform Sa'i." He said, "You will have the same ruling as the people." She asked, "What do you think about me?" He halted in the highest part of Makkah's valley and 'Abdullah bin Abi Bakr assisted her until she reached Tan'im.

Jabir said “We went out along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raising our voices in talbiyah for Hakk alone(Ifrad) while A’ishah raised her voice in talbiyah for an ‘Umrah. When she reached Sarif, she menstruated. When we came to (Makkah) we circumambulated the Ka’bah and ran between al Safa’ and al Marwah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then commanded us that those who had not brought sacrificial animals withthem should put off their ihram (after ‘Umrah). We asked “Which acts are lawful(and which not)? He replied All acts are lawful (that are permissible usually). We had therefore intercourse with our wives, used perfumes, put on our clothes. There remained only four days to perform Hajj at ‘Arafah. We then raised our voice in talbiyah (wearing Ihram for Hajj) on the eighth of Dhu al Hijjah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon A’ishah and found her weeping. He said What is the matter with you? My problem is that I have menstruated, while the people have put on their ihram but I have not done so, nor did I go round the House(the Ka’bah). Now the people are proceeding for Hajj. He said This is a thing destined by Allah to the daughters of Adam. Take a bath, then raise your voice in talbiyah for Hajj(i.e, wear ihram for Hajj). She took a abtah and performed all the rites of the Hajj(lit. she stayed at all those places where the pilgrims stay). When she was purified, she circumambulated the House (the Ka’bah), and ran between al Safa’ and al Marwah. He (the Prophet) said “Now you have performed both your Hajj and your ‘Umrah. She said Messenger of Allah, I have some misgiving in my mind that I did not go round the Ka’bah when I performed Hajj (in the beginning). He said ‘Abd al Rahman (her brother), take her and have her perform ‘Umrah from Al Tan’im. This happened on the night of Al Hasbah(i.e., the fourteenth of Dhu Al Hijjah). We went out with the Messenger of Allah (SWAS) at the farewell pilgrimage and raised the voice in talbiyah for an ‘Umrah. The Apostel of Allah (SWAS) said those who have brought the sacrificial animals with them should raise their voices in talbiyah for Hajj along with an ‘Umrah and they should not put off their Ihram till they do so after performing them both. I came to Makkah while I was menstruating and I did not go round the House (the Ka’bah) or run between al-Safa and al-Marwah. I complained about this to the Messenger of Allah (SWAS) he said: Undo your hair, comb it and raise your voice in talbiyah for Hajj and let ʿUmrah go. She said I did so. When we performed Hajj, the Messenger of Allah (SWAS) sent me along with ʿAbd al-Rahman bin Abu Bakr to al-Ta’nim and I performed ʿUmrah. He said, this is ʿUmrah in place of the one you had missed. She said those who had raised their voices in talbiyah for ʿUmrah put off Ihram after circumambulating the House (the Ka’bah) and after running between al-Safa and al-Marwa. Then they performed another circumambulation for their Hajj after they returned from Mina but those who combined Hajj and ʿUmrah performed only one circumambulation. We set out assuming the Ihram for Hajj in the months of Hajj towards the sacred precincts of Hajj. We dismounted at Sarif and the Prophet ﷺ said to his companions, "Whoever has not got the Hadi with him and likes to make it as ʿUmra, he should do it, but he who has got the Hadi with him should not do it." The Prophet ﷺ and some of his wealthy companions had the Hadi with them, so they did not finish Ihram after performing the ʿUmra. The Prophet ﷺ came to me while I was weeping. He asked me the reason for it. I replied, "I have heard of what you have said to your companions and I cannot do the ʿUmra." He asked me, "What is the matter with you?" I replied, "I am not praying." He said, "There is no harm in it as you are one of the daughters of Adam and the same is written for you as for others. So, you should perform Hajj and I hope that Allah will enable you to perform the ʿUmra as well." So, I carried on till we departed from Mina and halted at Al-Mahassab. The Prophet ﷺ called ʿAbdur- Rahman and said, "Go out of the sanctuary with your sister and let her assume Ihram for ʿUmra, and after both of you have finished the Tawaf I will be waiting for you at this place." We came back at midnight and the Prophet ﷺ asked us, "Have you finished?" I replied in the affirmative. He announced the departure and the people set out for the journey and some of them had performed the Tawaf of the Kaʿba before the morning prayer, and after that the Prophet ﷺ set out for Medina. [AI] A deadline approached for someone to perform the Umrah pilgrimage, until she delayed it. When she finally went, the Prophet ﷺ visited her and found her crying. He asked her what made her cry, and she replied that she had reached the age of menstruation without performing the rituals of Umrah and not having circumambulated the Kaaba, while everyone else had gone for Hajj. The Prophet ﷺ told her that this was a matter ordained by Allah for the daughters of Adam, so she should perform ablution and commence the rituals of Hajj. She did as he instructed, and when she purified herself, she circumambulated the Kaaba, Safa, and Marwa. Then the Prophet ﷺ told her that she had completed both her Hajj and Umrah. However, she still felt in her heart that she had not circumambulated the Kaaba before she performed Hajj. The Prophet ﷺ instructed her to go back with "Abd al-Rahman and perform the rituals again, this time using all the luxuries and comforts available on the Night of Husbands.

Jabir said “We went out along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raising our voices in talbiyah for Hakk alone(Ifrad) while A’ishah raised her voice in talbiyah for an ‘Umrah. When she reached Sarif, she menstruated. When we came to (Makkah) we circumambulated the Ka’bah and ran between al Safa’ and al Marwah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then commanded us that those who had not brought sacrificial animals withthem should put off their ihram (after ‘Umrah). We asked “Which acts are lawful(and which not)? He replied All acts are lawful (that are permissible usually). We had therefore intercourse with our wives, used perfumes, put on our clothes. There remained only four days to perform Hajj at ‘Arafah. We then raised our voice in talbiyah (wearing Ihram for Hajj) on the eighth of Dhu al Hijjah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon A’ishah and found her weeping. He said What is the matter with you? My problem is that I have menstruated, while the people have put on their ihram but I have not done so, nor did I go round the House(the Ka’bah). Now the people are proceeding for Hajj. He said This is a thing destined by Allah to the daughters of Adam. Take a bath, then raise your voice in talbiyah for Hajj(i.e, wear ihram for Hajj). She took a abtah and performed all the rites of the Hajj(lit. she stayed at all those places where the pilgrims stay). When she was purified, she circumambulated the House (the Ka’bah), and ran between al Safa’ and al Marwah. He (the Prophet) said “Now you have performed both your Hajj and your ‘Umrah. She said Messenger of Allah, I have some misgiving in my mind that I did not go round the Ka’bah when I performed Hajj (in the beginning). He said ‘Abd al Rahman (her brother), take her and have her perform ‘Umrah from Al Tan’im. This happened on the night of Al Hasbah(i.e., the fourteenth of Dhu Al Hijjah). We went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with no other aim but that of Hajj till we came (to the place known as) Sarif; and there I entered in the state of menses. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me while I was weeping. He said: What makes you weep? I said: Would that I had not come (for Pilgrimage) this year. He (the Holy Prophet) said: What has happened to you? You have perhaps entered the period of menses. I said: Yes. He said: This is what has been ordained for the daughters of Adam. Do what a pilgrim does except that you should not circumambulate the House, till you are purified (of the menses). She ('A'isha) said: When I came to Mecca, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his companions: Make this (Ihram) the Ihram for 'Umra. So the people put off Ihram except those who had sacrificial animals with them. She ('A'isha) said: The Apostle of Allah ﷺ had the sacrificial animal with him, and so had Abu Bakr, 'Umar and other persons of means. They (those who had put off Ihram again) put on Ihram (for Hajj) when they marched (towards Mina), and it was the 8th of Dhu'l-Hijja. She ('A'isha) said: When it was the day of sacrifice (10th of Dhu'l-Hijja), I was purified, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded me and I did the circumambulation of Ifada. She said that the flesh of cow was sent to us. I said: What is it? They said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has offered a cow as sacrifice on behalf of his wives. When it was the night at Hasba, I said: Messenger of Allah, people are coming back from Hajj and Umra, where as I am coming back from Hajj (alone). She (A'isha) reported: He (the Holy Prophet) commanded" Abd al-Rahman b. Abu Bakr to mount me upon his camel behind him. She ('A'isha) said: I was very young and I well remember that I dozed off and my face touched the hind part of the haudaj (camel litter) till we came to Tan'im, and entered into the state of Ihram in lieu of Umra (which I for the time being abandoned) and which the people had performed. [AI] With the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Farewell Hajj, we performed Umrah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever has brought a sacrificial animal should enter the state of Ihram for Hajj along with Umrah, and he should not come out of the state of Ihram until he completes both of them together." I came forward while I was menstruating and, therefore, I did not complete circumambulation of the House (Kaaba) or go between Safa and Marwa. I complained about this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, "Uncover your head, comb your hair, and perform Hajj with the intention of Umrah, leaving Hajj." I acted according to his instructions. When we finished Hajj, he sent me with 'Abdur-Rahman ibn Abu Bakr to Tan'iim, and I performed Umrah. He said, "This is the place where you should complete your Umrah." Those who performed Umrah alongside with Hajj circumambulated the House and went between Safa and Marwa, then they untied their hair and completed another circumambulation after returning from Mina, whereas those who combined Hajj and Umrah performed only one circumambulation.

He said, "Indeed, this is a matter that Allah has ordained upon the daughters of Adam. So, perform Ghusl (ritual bath), and your family too, for Hajj, and then perform Hajj." She said, "So, I did that. When I purified myself, he said, 'Now, perform Tawaf (circumambulation) between Safa and Marwa.' After you have completed your Hajj and Umrah, she said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I feel that in myself regarding my Umrah that I did not do Tawaf until I performed Hajj.' He said, 'Go on, Abdur Rahman, and perform it from the provision of honey.'"
