" Hallowed be Allah according to the number of His creation, hallowed be Allah according to the pleasure of His Self, hallowed be Allah according to the weight of His Throne, hallowed be Allah according to the ink used in recording His words."

مَرَّ بِهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ حِينَ صَلَّى صَلاَةَ الْغَدَاةِ أَوْ بَعْدَ مَا صَلَّى الْغَدَاةَ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ رِضَا نَفْسِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ زِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ مِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by her when he prayed the morning prayer, or after he prayed the morning prayer, and she was remembering Allah. He came back when the sun had risen" - or he (one of the narrators) said, "at midday - and she was still doing that. He said: 'I have said four words, three times, since I left you, and they are greater and weigh more heavily than what you have said. They are: Subhan-Allahi 'adada khalqiha, Subhan-Allahi rida nafsihi, Subhan-Allahi zinata 'arshihi, Subhan-Allah midada kalimatihi (Glory is to Allah, as much as the number of His creation, glory is to Allah as much as pleases Him, glory is to Allah as much as the weight of His Throne, glory is to Allah as much as the ink of His words'."

مَرَّ بِهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ حِينَ صَلَّى الْغَدَاةَ أَوْ بَعْدَ مَا صَلَّى الْغَدَاةَ وَهِيَ تَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ فَرَجَعَ حِينَ ارْتَفَعَ النَّهَارُ أَوْ قَالَ انْتَصَفَ وَهِيَ كَذَلِكَ فَقَالَ لَقَدْ قُلْتُ مُنْذُ قُمْتُ عَنْكِ أَرْبَعَ كَلِمَاتٍ ثَلاَثَ مَرَّاتٍ هِيَ أَكْثَرُ وَأَرْجَحُ أَوْ أَوْزَنُ مِمَّا قُلْتِ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ رِضَا نَفْسِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ زِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ مِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me in the morning while I was glorifying Allah. Then he went to attend to his need and returned shortly before noon. He asked, "Have you been sitting here all this time?" I replied, "Yes." He said, "Shall I not teach you some words which, if you were to say them, they would outweigh what you have said so far, or would be equal to it, or even more?" He then recited the following three times: "Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) equal to the number of His creation, Subhan Allah equal to the weight of His Throne, Subhan Allah equal to the ink of His words."

أَتَى عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ غُدْوَةً وَأَنَا أُسَبِّحُ ثُمَّ انْطَلَقَ لِحَاجَتِهِ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ قَرِيبًا مِنْ نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ فَقَالَ مَا زِلْتِ قَاعِدَةً؟ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكِ كَلِمَاتٍ لَوْ عُدِلْنَ بِهِنَّ عَدَلَتْهُنَّ أَوْ لَوْ وُزِنَّ بِهِنَّ وَزَنَتْهُنَّ يَعْنِي بِجَمِيعِ مَا سَبَّحَتْ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ زِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رِضَا نَفْسِهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ مِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ

The Prophet ﷺ passed by her while she was in the masjid, supplicating, then he passed by her again when it was almost midday. He said to her: "Are you still here?" She said: "Yes." He said: "Shall I not teach you some words which you can say? Subhan Allah adada khalqihi, subhan Allah adada khalqihi, subhan Allah adada khalqihi; subhan Allah rida nafsihi, subhan Allah rida nafsihi, subhan Allah rida nafsihi; Subhan Allah zinata 'arshihi, Subhan Allah zinata 'arshihi, Subhan Allah zinata 'arshihi; Subhan Allah midada Kalamatihi, Subhan Allah midada Kalamatihi, Subhan Allah midada Kalamatihi (Glory be to Allah the number of His creation, glory be to Allah the number of His creation, glory be to Allah the number of His creation; glory be to Allah as much as pleases Him, glory be to Allah as much as pleases Him, glory be to Allah as much as pleases Him; glory be to Allah the weight of His throne, glory be to Allah the weight of His throne, glory be to Allah the weight of His throne; glory be to Allah the number of His words, glory be to Allah the number of His words, glory be to Allah the number of His words).' إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّ عَلَى جُوَيْرِيَةَ بَاكِرًا وَهِيَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ تَدْعُو ثُمَّ مَرَّ عَلَيْهَا قَرِيبًا مِنْ نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ فَقَالَ مَا زِلْتِ عَلَى حَالِكِ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ قَالَ ﷺ أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكِ كَلِمَاتٍ تَعْدِلُهُنَّ بِهِنَّ وَلَوْ وُزِنَ بِهِنَّ وُزِنَ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ ثَلَاثًا سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رِضَا نَفْسِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رِضَا نَفْسِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رِضَا نَفْسِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ زِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ زِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ زِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ مِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ مِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ مِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ وَكَانَ اسْمُهَا بَرَّةَ فَسَمَّاهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ جُوَيْرِيَةَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me while I was praising Allah, then he left for his needs. He returned from half of the day and said, "Are you still sitting?" She said, I said yes. He said, "Shall I teach you words that if you were to measure them or weigh them, they would outweigh them?" Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) the number of His creations three times. Subhan Allah the weight of His throne three times. Subhan Allah the satisfaction of His self three times. Subhan Allah the ink of His words three times.

أَتَى عَلَيَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أُسَبِّحُ ثُمَّ انْطَلَقَ لِحَاجَتِهِ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ مِنْ نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ فَقَالَ «مَا زِلْتِ قَاعِدَةً؟ » قَالَتْ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ «أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكِ كَلِمَاتٍ لَوْ عُدِلْنَ بِهِنَّ عَدَلَتْهُنَّ أَوْ لَوْ وُزِنَّ بِهِنَّ وَزَنَتْهُنَّ؟ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ زِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ رِضَا نَفْسِهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ مِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by her early in the morning while she was praying in the mosque. Then he passed by her again close to midday and asked, "Are you still doing the same thing?" She replied, "Yes." He said, "Shall I teach you some words that are equivalent to freeing slaves? They are: Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) the number of His creations three times, Subhan Allah satisfaction with Himself three times, Subhan Allah the weight of His Throne three times, and Subhan Allah the ink of His words." Her name was Burrah, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ named her Juwayriyah.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّ عَلَيْهَا بَاكِرًا وَهِيَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ تَدْعُو ثُمَّ مَرَّ عَلَيْهَا قَرِيبًا مِنْ نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ فَقَالَ «مَا زِلْتِ عَلَى ذَلِكَ؟» قَالَتْ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكِ كَلِمَاتٍ تَعْدِلُهُنَّ وَرِقَابٌ أوْوَزْنُهُنَّ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ ثَلَاثًا سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رِضَى نَفْسِهِ ثَلَاثًا سُبْحَانَ اللهِ زِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ ثَلَاثًا سُبْحَانَ اللهِ مِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ وَكَانَتِ اسْمُهَا بُرَّةَ فَسَمَّاهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ جُوَيْرِيَةَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , passed by her while he was praying Fajr or after he had prayed Fajr, and she was remembering Allah until the sun rose, and she was still like that. So he said, "Since I left you, I have said three statements that are greater and more beloved to me than what you have been saying: Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) as many times as the number of His creation, Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) as many times as the weight of His Throne, Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) as many times as the ink of His words."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّ بِهَا حِينَ صَلَّى الْغَدَاةَ أَوْ بَعْدَ صَلَّى الْغَدَاةَ وَهِيَ تَذْكُرُ اللهَ حَتَّى ارْتَفَعَ النَّهَارُ وَهِيَ كَذَلِكَ فَقَالَ «لَقَدْ قُلْتُ مُنْذُ قُمْتُ عَنْكِ كَلِمَاتٍ ثَلَاثًا هُنَّ أَكْبَرُ وَأَرْجِحُ أَوْ أَوْزَنُ مِمَّا قُلْتِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رِضَى نَفْسِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ زِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ مِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ»

[AI] The name of Juwayriyah bint al-Harith was Burrah, but the Prophet ﷺ changed her name to Juwayriyah. He passed by her while she was reading and worshiping Allah in her prayer. Then, he passed by her again after the day had ended and asked, "O Juwayriyah, are you still in your place?" She replied, "I have not moved from my place since you left." He said, "I have uttered four phrases that I have repeated three times, which are better than what you have said. They are: Subhan Allahi wa bihamdihi, Subhan Allahi al-'adheemi, Subhan Allahi wa bihamdihi, Subhan Allahi al-'adheemi. And all praise is due to Allah." This narration is reported by Shu'bah from Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman from Kurayb from Ibn 'Abbas, from Juwayriyah.

كَانَ اسْمُ جُوَيْرِيَةَ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ بُرَّةُ فَحَوَّلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ اسْمَهَا فَسَمَّاهَا جُوَيْرِيَةَ فَمَرَّ بِهَا تَقْرَأُ وَهِيَ فِي مُصَلَّاهَا تُسَبِّحُ وَتَذْكُرُ اللهَ ثُمَّ إِنَّهُ مَرَّ بِهَا بَعْدَمَا ارْتَفَعَ النَّهَارُ فَقَالَ «يَا جُوَيْرِيَةُ مَا زِلْتِ فِي مَكَانِكِ؟» قَالَتْ مَا زِلْتُ فِي مَكَانِي مُنْذُ تَعْلَمُ قَالَ لَقَدْ تَكَلَّمْتُ بِأَرْبَعِ كَلِمَاتٍ أَعَدْتُهُنَّ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ هُنَّ أَفْضَلُ مِمَّا قُلْتِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ زِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ مِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كَذَلِكَ جَوَّدَهُ شُعْبَةُ رَوَاهُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ جُوَيْرِيَةَ

"لَقَدْ قُلتُ بَعْدَك أربَع كلماتٍ ثَلاثَ مرَّاتٍ، لو وزِنَتْ بمِا قُلْتِ مُنذُ اليومَ لَوَزَنَتْهُن: سُبحانَ الله وبحمده عَدَد خَلقِه، ورِضا نَفْسه، وزِنَةَ عرشه، ومدَادَ كلماته".

"لَقَدْ تكلَّمْتُ بأَرْبع كلماتٍ أعدْتُهُنَّ ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، هُنَّ أفْضَلُ مِمَّا قُلتِ: سُبْحَانَ الله عَددَ خلقه، وسبحانِ الله رِضى نفسه، وسبحان الله زِنَةَ عرشه، وسبحانَ الله مِدادَ كلماتِه، والحمد لله مثلَ ذلكَ".
