ahmad:3307 – Yazīd > Ibn Abū Dhiʾb

[Machine] He said, "O Abu Abbas, what is this garment that you are wearing?" He replied, "What is it?" He said, "It is Istibraq." He said, "By Allah, I did not know about it, and I do not think that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade it except for showing off and arrogance. And we are not like that, praise be to Allah." He said, "So what is this canon with images on it?" Ibn Abbas said, "Don't you see how we burned it with fire?"  

أحمد:٣٣٠٧ – حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ قَالَدَخَلَ الْمِسْوَرُ بْنُ مَخْرَمَةَ عَلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَعُودُهُ فِي مَرَضٍ مَرِضَهُ فَرَأَى عَلَيْهِ ثَوْبَ إِسْتَبْرَقٍ وَبَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ كَانُونٌ عَلَيْهِ تَمَاثِيلُ فَقَالَ

لَهُ يَا أَبَا عَبَّاسٍ مَا هَذَا الثَّوْبُ الَّذِي عَلَيْكَ؟ قَالَ وَمَا هُوَ؟ قَالَ إِسْتَبْرَقٌ قَالَ وَاللهِ مَا عَلِمْتُ بِهِ وَمَا أَظُنُّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْهُ إِلَّا لِلتَّجَبُّرِ وَالتَّكَبُّرِ وَلَسْنَا بِحَمْدِ اللهِ كَذَلِكَ قَالَ فَمَا هَذَا الْكَانُونُ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِ الصُّوَرُ؟ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ أَلَا تَرَى كَيْفَ أَحْرَقْنَاهَا بِالنَّارِ؟

[Machine] So he said, "Oh Abu Abbas, what is this garment?" He said, "And what is it?" He said, "This is Istabraq." He said, "By Allah, I didn't know about it, and I don't think that the Prophet ﷺ forbade it except out of arrogance and pride. And praise be to Allah, we are not such people." He said, "Then what are these images in the camera?" He said, "Don't you see that we burned them with fire?" So when the conqueror left, he said, "Take off this garment from me and cut the heads of these statues." They said, "Oh Abu Abbas, if you had taken them to the market, you could have sold them along with the heads." He said, "No." So he ordered the cutting of their heads.  

أحمد:٢٩٣٢ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ أَنَّ الْمِسْوَرَ بْنَ مَخْرَمَةَ دَخَلَ عَلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَعُودُهُ مِنْ وَجَعٍ وَعَلَيْهِ بُرْدٌ إِسْتَبْرَقٌ

فَقال يَا أَبَا عَبَّاسٍ مَا هَذَا الثَّوْبُ؟ قَالَ وَمَا هُوَ؟ قَالَهَذَا الْإِسْتَبْرَقُ قَالَ وَاللهِ مَا عَلِمْتُ بِهِ وَمَا أَظُنُّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ هَذَا حِينَ نَهَى عَنْهُ إِلا لِلتَّجَبُّرِ وَالتَّكَبُّرِ وَلَسْنَا بِحَمْدِ اللهِ كَذَلِكَ قَالَ فَمَا هَذِهِ التَّصَاوِيرُ فِي الْكَانُونِ؟ قَالَ أَلا تَرَى قَدْ أَحْرَقْنَاهَا بِالنَّارِ؟ فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ الْمِسْوَرُ قَالَ انْزَعُوا هَذَا الثَّوْبَ عَنِّي وَاقْطَعُوا رُءُوسَ هَذِهِ التَّمَاثِيلِ قَالُوا يَا أَبَا عَبَّاسٍ لَوْ ذَهَبْتَ بِهَا إِلَى السُّوقِ كَانَ أَنْفَقَ لَهَا مَعَ الرَّأْسِ؟ قَالَ لَا فَأَمَرَ بِقَطْعِ رُءُوسِهَا  

tabarani:12218 – Muḥammad b. ʿAbdūs b. Kāmil > ʿAlī b. al-Jaʿd > Ibn Abū Dhiʾb > Shuʿbah a freed slave of Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] "I did not know any harm from it, and I do not think that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade it except for arrogance and pride, and we are not praising Allah in such a way." He said, "So what are these birds in the cannon?" He said, "Do you not see how we burned them with fire?" So when the besieged people left, he said, "Remove this garment from me and cut off the heads of these statues or images."  

الطبراني:١٢٢١٨ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدُوسِ بْنِ كَامِلٍ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ دَخَلَ الْمِسْوَرُ بْنُ مَخْرَمَةَ عَلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَعَلَيْهِ ثَوْبُ إِسْتَبْرَقٍ فَقَالَ مَا هَذَا يَا أَبَا عَبَّاسٍ؟ َقَالَ وَمَا هُوَ؟ قَالَ هَذَا §الْإِسْتَبْرَقُ قَالَ

«مَا عَلِمْتُ بِهِ بَأْسًا وَمَا أَظُنُّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْهُ حِينَ نَهَى إِلَّا لِلتَّجَبُّرِ وَالتَّكَبُّرِ وَلَسْنَا بِحَمْدِ اللهِ كَذَلِكَ» قَالَ فَمَا هَذِهِ الطُّيُورُ فِي الْكَانُونِ؟ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَلَا يَرَى كَيْفَ أَحْرَقْنَاهَا بِالنَّارِ فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ الْمِسْوَرُ قَالَ «انْزِعُوا هَذَا الثَّوْبَ عَنِّي وَاقْطَعُوا رُءُوسَ هَذِهِ التَّمَاثِيلِ أَوِ الصُّوَرِ»
