[Machine] The sun set during the time of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , and I heard a commotion from the people saying, "It is a sign!" At that moment, I rushed with a piece of cloth to Zubair until I entered upon Aisha and the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ who were standing in prayer for the people. I said to Aisha, "What is happening to the people?" She pointed with her hand towards the sky and said, "I prayed with them while the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ finished his first prostration, then he stood up for a long time until I saw some people washing themselves with water. Then he made a long prostration, and then stood up without prostrating for a long time, which was shorter than the first standing. Then he made another long prostration and then he finished his prayer and greeted, while the sun was shining brightly. Then he ascended the pulpit and said, 'O people, the sun and the moon are two signs from the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse for the death or life of anyone. So, when you see that, hasten to pray, give charity, and remember Allah. O people, there is nothing that I have not seen or presented before you in this place. I have shown you what will happen in your graves, where you will be asked, 'What were you saying and what were you worshipping?' So, if you say, 'I do not know,' the people will say something and you will say it, and they will do something and you will do it. It will be said, 'You lived your life in doubt,' and you will stay in this position in the Fire. But if you testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, it will be said, 'You lived your life in certainty,' and you will stay in this position in Paradise. And I have seen fifty or seventy thousand people entering Paradise in the image of the full moon.' Then a man stood up and said, 'Pray to Allah that He makes me one of them.' He said, 'O Allah, make him one of them.' O people, you will not ask me about anything until it is revealed to me except that I will inform you about it.' Then a man stood up and asked, 'Who is my father?' He replied, 'Your father is so and so, who is attributed to you.'  

أحمد:٢٦٩٩٢حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحٌ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ قَالَتْ

خَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَسَمِعْتُ رَجَّةَ النَّاسِ وَهُمْ يَقُولُونَ آيَةٌ وَنَحْنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِي فَازِعٍ فَخَرَجْتُ مُتَلَفِّعَةً بِقَطِيفَةٍ لِلزُّبَيْرِ حَتَّى دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي لِلنَّاسِ فَقُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ مَا لِلنَّاسِ؟ فَأَشَارَتْ بِيَدِهَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ قَالَتْ فَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُمْ وَقَدْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَرَغَ مِنْ سَجْدَتِهِ الْأُولَى قَالَتْ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قِيَامًا طَوِيلًا حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ بَعْضَ مَنْ يُصَلِّي يَنْتَضِحُ بِالْمَاءِ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ فَرَكَعَ رُكُوعًا طَوِيلًا ثُمَّ قَامَ وَلَمْ يَسْجُدْ قِيَاما طَوِيلًا وَهُوَ دُونَ الْقِيَامِ الْأَوَّلِ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ رُكُوعًا طَوِيلًا وَهُوَ دُونَ رُكُوعِهِ الْأَوَّلِ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ وَقَدْ تَجَلَّتِ الشَّمْسُ ثُمَّ رَقِيَ الْمِنْبَرَ َفقَالَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللهِ لَا يَخْسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ وَلَا لِحَيَاتِهِ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ ذَلِكَ فَافْزَعُوا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ وَإِلَى الصَّدَقَةِ وَإِلَى ذِكْرِ اللهِ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَبْقَ شَيْءٌ لَمْ أَكُنْ رَأَيْتُهُ إِلَّا وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ فِي مَقَامِي هَذَا وَقَدْ أُرِيتُكُمْ تُفْتَنُونَ فِي قُبُورِكُمْ يُسْأَلُ أَحَدُكُمْ مَا كُنْتَ تَقُولُ؟ وَمَا كُنْتَ تَعْبُدُ؟ فَإِنْ قَالَ لَا أَدْرِي رَأَيْتُ النَّاسَيَقُولُونَ شَيْئًا فَقُلْتُهُ وَيَصْنَعُونَ شَيْئًا فَصَنَعْتُهُ قِيلَ لَهُ أَجَلْ عَلَى الشَّكِّ عِشْتَ وَعَلَيْهِ مِتَّ هَذَا مَقْعَدُكَ مِنَ النَّارِ وَإِنْ قَالَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ قِيلَ عَلَى الْيَقِينِ عِشْتَ وَعَلَيْهِ مِتَّ هَذَا مَقْعَدُكَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ وَقَدْ أُرِيْتُ خَمْسِينَ أَوْ سَبْعِينَ أَلْفًا يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ فِي مِثْلِ صُورَةِ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ ادْعُ اللهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ قَالَ اللهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تَسْأَلُونِي عَنْ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى أَنْزِلَ إِلَّا أَخْبَرْتُكُمْ بِهِ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ مَنْ أَبِي؟ قَالَ أَبُوكَ فُلَانٌ الَّذِي كَانَ يُنْسَبُ إِلَيْهِ

Allah listened to him who praised Him: our Lord, praise is due to Thee. He then again stood up and made a long recital, which was less than the first recital. He pronounced takbir and observed a long ruku', and it was less than the first one. He again said: Allah listened to him who praised Him; our Lord, praise is due to Thee. (Abu Tahir, one of the narrators) made no mention of:" He then prostrated himself." He did like this in the second rak'ah, till he completed four rak'ahs and four prostrations and the sun became bright before he deported. He then stood up and addressed people, after lauding Allah as He deserved, and then said: The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah These do not eclipse either on the death of anyone or on his birth. So when you see them, hasten to prayer. He also said this: Observe prayer till Allah dispels the anxiety (of this extraordinary phenomenon) from you. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I saw in my place everything which you have been promised. I even saw myself desiring to pluck a bunch (of grapes) from Paradise (and it was at the time) when you saw me moving forward. And I saw Hell and some of its parts crushing the others, when you saw me moving back; and I saw in it Ibn Luhayy and he was the person who made the she-camels loiter about. In the hadith transmitted by Abu Tahir the words are:" He hastened to prayer," and he made no mention of what follows.

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ خَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فِي حَيَاةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَامَ وَكَبَّرَ وَصَفَّ النَّاسُ وَرَاءَهُ فَاقْتَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قِرَاءَةً طَوِيلَةً ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ فَرَكَعَ رُكُوعًا طَوِيلاً ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَاقْتَرَأَ قِرَاءَةً طَوِيلَةً هِيَ أَدْنَى مِنَ الْقِرَاءَةِ الأُولَى ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ فَرَكَعَ رُكُوعًا طَوِيلاً هُوَ أَدْنَى مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ الأَوَّلِ ثُمَّ قَالَ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ ثُمَّ فَعَلَ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الأُخْرَى مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى اسْتَكْمَلَ أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ وَأَرْبَعَ سَجَدَاتٍ وَانْجَلَتِ الشَّمْسُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْصَرِفَ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَخَطَبَ النَّاسَ فَأَثْنَى عَلَى اللَّهِ بِمَا هُوَ أَهْلُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ لاَ يَخْسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ وَلاَ لِحَيَاتِهِ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهَا فَافْزَعُوا لِلصَّلاَةِ وَقَالَ أَيْضًا فَصَلُّوا حَتَّى يُفَرِّجَ اللَّهُ عَنْكُمْ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَأَيْتُ فِي مَقَامِي هَذَا كُلَّ شَىْءٍ وُعِدْتُمْ حَتَّى لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنِي أُرِيدُ أَنْ آخُذَ قِطْفًا مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ حِينَ رَأَيْتُمُونِي جَعَلْتُ أُقَدِّمُ وَقَالَ الْمُرَادِيُّ أَتَقَدَّمُ وَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ جَهَنَّمَ يَحْطِمُ بَعْضُهَا بَعْضًا حِينَ رَأَيْتُمُونِي تَأَخَّرْتُ وَرَأَيْتُ فِيهَا ابْنَ لُحَىٍّ وَهُوَ الَّذِي سَيَّبَ السَّوَائِبَ وَانْتَهَى حَدِيثُ أَبِي الطَّاهِرِ عِنْدَ قَوْلِهِ فَافْزَعُوا لِلصَّلاَةِ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ مَا بَعْدَهُ

till he reached near the women) He then moved forward and the people also moved forward along with him till he stood at his (original) place (of worship). He then completed the prayer as it was required to complete and the sun brightened and he said: O people! verily the sun and the moon are among the signs of Allah and they do not eclipse at the death of anyone among people (Abu Bakr said: On the death of any human being). So when you see anything like it (of the nature of eclipse), pray till it is bright. There is nothing which you have been promised (in the next world) but I have seen it in this prayer of mine. Hell was brought to me as you saw me moving back on account of fear lest its heat might affect me; and I saw the owner of the curved staff who dragged his intestines in the fire, and he used to steal (the belongings) of the pilgrims with his curved staff. If he (the owner of the staff) became aware, he would say: It got (accidentally) entangled in my curved staff, but if he was unaware of that, he would take that away. I also saw in it (in Hell) the owner of a cat whom she had tied and did not feed her nor set her free so that she could eat the creatures of the earth, till the cat died of starvation. Paradise was brought to me, and it was on that occasion that you saw me moving forward till I stood at my place (of worship). I stretched my hand as I wanted to catch hold of its fruits so that you may see them. Then I thought of not doing it. Nothing which you have been promised was there that I did not see in this prayer of mine.  

مسلم:٩٠٤cحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ وَتَقَارَبَا فِي اللَّفْظِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ مَاتَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ ابْنُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا انْكَسَفَتْ لِمَوْتِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ سِتَّ رَكَعَاتٍ بِأَرْبَعِ سَجَدَاتٍ بَدَأَ فَكَبَّرَ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ فَأَطَالَ الْقِرَاءَةَ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ نَحْوًا مِمَّا قَامَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ فَقَرَأَ قِرَاءَةً دُونَ الْقِرَاءَةِ الأُولَى ثُمَّ رَكَعَ نَحْوًا مِمَّا قَامَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ فَقَرَأَ قِرَاءَةً دُونَ الْقِرَاءَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ نَحْوًا مِمَّا قَامَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ ثُمَّ انْحَدَرَ بِالسُّجُودِ فَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَرَكَعَ أَيْضًا ثَلاَثَ رَكَعَاتٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَكْعَةٌ إِلاَّ الَّتِي قَبْلَهَا أَطْوَلُ مِنَ الَّتِي بَعْدَهَا وَرُكُوعُهُ نَحْوًا مِنْ سُجُودِهِ ثُمَّ تَأَخَّرَ وَتَأَخَّرَتِ الصُّفُوفُ خَلْفَهُ حَتَّى انْتَهَيْنَا وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى النِّسَاءِ ثُمَّ تَقَدَّمَ وَتَقَدَّمَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ حَتَّى قَامَ فِي مَقَامِهِ فَانْصَرَفَ حِينَ انْصَرَفَ وَقَدْ آضَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَإِنَّهُمَا لاَ يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ لِمَوْتِ بَشَرٍ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ شَيْئًا مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَصَلُّوا حَتَّى تَنْجَلِيَ مَا مِنْ شَىْءٍ تُوعَدُونَهُ إِلاَّ قَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ فِي صَلاَتِي هَذِهِ لَقَدْ جِيءَ بِالنَّارِ وَذَلِكُمْ حِينَ رَأَيْتُمُونِي تَأَخَّرْتُ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يُصِيبَنِي مِنْ لَفْحِهَا وَحَتَّى رَأَيْتُ فِيهَا صَاحِبَ الْمِحْجَنِ يَجُرُّ قُصْبَهُ فِي النَّارِ كَانَ يَسْرِقُ الْحَاجَّ بِمِحْجَنِهِ فَإِنْ فُطِنَ لَهُ قَالَ إِنَّمَا تَعَلَّقَ بِمِحْجَنِي وَإِنْ غُفِلَ عَنْهُ ذَهَبَ بِهِ وَحَتَّى رَأَيْتُ فِيهَا صَاحِبَةَ الْهِرَّةِ الَّتِي رَبَطَتْهَا فَلَمْ تُطْعِمْهَا وَلَمْ تَدَعْهَا تَأْكُلُ مِنْ خَشَاشِ الأَرْضِ حَتَّى مَاتَتْ جُوعًا ثُمَّ جِيءَ بِالْجَنَّةِ وَذَلِكُمْ حِينَ رَأَيْتُمُونِي تَقَدَّمْتُ حَتَّى قُمْتُ فِي مَقَامِي وَلَقَدْ مَدَدْتُ يَدِي وَأَنَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَتَنَاوَلَ مِنْ ثَمَرِهَا لِتَنْظُرُوا إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ بَدَا لِي أَنْ لاَ أَفْعَلَ فَمَا مِنْ شَىْءٍ تُوعَدُونَهُ إِلاَّ قَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ فِي صَلاَتِي هَذِهِ

[Machine] Sumurah, while I was a young boy from the Ansar, we were throwing objects for ourselves during the time of the Prophet ﷺ. When the sun reached the height of two or three lances above the horizon, it became darkened and shone like a firefly. One of us said to his companion, "Let's go to the mosque, and I swear by Allah that this matter of the sun will be mentioned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in his Ummah." So we went to the mosque, and we found the Messenger of Allah ﷺ standing among the people. He came forward and led us in prayer, the longest prayer he ever prayed with us, in which we could not even hear his voice. Then he performed ruku (bowing) with us, the longest ruku he ever performed with us, in which we could not hear his voice. Then he performed sujud (prostration) with us, the longest sujud he ever performed with us, in which we could not hear his voice. Then he did the same in the second raka'ah, and when the sun reappeared during the second raka'ah, he sat down. Then he said, "O people, indeed I am only a human being and the Messenger of Allah. But I remind you of Allah, if you know that I have not conveyed any of the messages of my Lord, which you informed me of, until I convey them as they should be conveyed. And if you know that I have conveyed the messages of my Lord, which you informed me of." Then the people stood up and said, "We bear witness that you have conveyed the messages of your Lord and advised your Ummah, and you have fulfilled what is upon you." Then they fell silent, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "As for what follows, there are men who claim that the eclipse of this sun, the eclipse of this moon, and the disappearance of these stars from their stations cause the death of great men from the people of the earth. Indeed, they are liars, but they are signs from the signs of Allah by which He tests His servants. Let the one among them who will repent come forward." By Allah, since I started praying, I have not met any of you in your current worldly and hereafter conditions. And by Allah, the Hour will not be established until thirty liars will appear, the last of them being the lame Dajjal. He will have a deformed eye like the eye of Abi Yahya, a sheikh from the Ansar. And when he appears, he will claim that he is Allah. Whoever believes in him, verifies his claim, and follows him, then none of his past deeds will benefit him. And whoever denies him and rejects him, then none of his past deeds will harm him. Indeed, he will appear on the entire earth except for the Haram and Bayt al-Maqdis. And indeed, he will besiege the believers in Bayt al-Maqdis, and they will shake violently. Then Jesus, the son of Mary, will descend among them, and Allah will defeat him and his soldiers, to the extent that the black stone will call out, "O believer! This is a disbeliever hiding behind me, so come and kill him." He said, "But that will not happen until you see matters becoming widespread and severe. You will ask each other, 'Did your Prophet ﷺ mention anything about this?' And until mountains move from their places and continue to move until the seizing (of souls) comes. He pointed with his hand, and he said, "Then he delivered another sermon, in which he mentioned what he mentioned before and did not delay it or precede it."

سَمُرَةُ بَيْنَمَا أَنَا يَوْمًا وَغُلَامٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ نَرْمِي غَرَضًا لَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَتِ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى قَدْرِ رُمْحَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثَةٍ فِي عَيْنِ النَّاظِرِ مِنَ الْأُفُقِ اسْوَدَّتْ حَتَّى آضَتْ كَأَنَّهَا تَنُّومَةٌ فَقَالَ أَحَدُنَا لِصَاحِبِهِ انْطَلِقْ بِنَا إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَوَاللَّهِ لَيُحْدِثَنَّ شَأْنُ هَذِهِ الشَّمْسِ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي أُمَّتِهِ حَدَثًا فَدَفَعْنَا إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَإِذَا هُوَ بَارِزٌ فَوَافَقْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ حِينَ خَرَجَ إِلَى النَّاسِ قَالَ فَتَقَدَّمَ وَصَلَّى بِنَا كَأَطْوَلِ مَا قَامَ بِنَا فِي صَلَاةٍ قَطُّ لَا نَسْمَعُ لَهُ صَوْتَهُ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ بِنَا كَأَطْوَلِ مَا رَكَعَ بِنَا فِي صَلَاةٍ قَطُّ لَا نَسْمَعُ لَهُ صَوْتَهُ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ بِنَا كَأَطْوَلِ مَا سَجَدَ بِنَا فِي صَلَاةٍ قَطُّ لَا نَسْمَعُ لَهُ صَوْتَهُ قَالَ ثُمَّ فَعَلَ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَوَافَقَ تَجَلِّي الشَّمْسِ جُلُوسَهُ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ قَالَ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ وَشَهِدَ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَشَهِدَ أَنَّهُ عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ فَأُذَكِّرُكُمُ اللَّهَ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنِّي قَصَّرْتُ عَنْ شَيْءٍ مِنٍ تَبْلِيغِ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّي لَمَا أَخْبَرْتُمُونِي حَتَّى أُبَلِّغَ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّي كَمَا يَنْبَغِي لَهَا أَنْ تُبَلَّغَ وَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنِّي قَدْ بَلَّغْتُ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّي لَمَا أَخْبَرْتُمُونِي» قَالَ فَقَامَ النَّاسُ فَقَالُوا نَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ قَدْ بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّكَ وَنَصَحْتَ لِأُمَّتِكَ وَقَضَيْتَ الَّذِي عَلَيْكَ قَالَ ثُمَّ سَكَتُوا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّ رِجَالًا يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّ كُسُوفَ هَذِهِ الشَّمْسِ وَكُسُوفَ هَذَا الْقَمَرِ وَزَوَالَ هَذِهِ النُّجُومِ عَنْ مَطَالِعِهَا لِمَوْتِ رِجَالٍ عُظَمَاءَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ وإِنَّهُمْ كَذَبُوا وَلَكِنَّ آيَاتٍ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ يَفْتِنُ بِهَا عِبَادَهُ لَيَنْظُرَ مَنْ يُحْدِثُ مِنْهُمْ تَوْبَةً وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ مُنْذُ قُمْتُ أُصَلِّي مَا أَنْتُمْ لَاقُونَ فِي دُنْيَاكُمْ وَآخِرَتِكُمْ وَإِنَّهُ وَاللَّهِ لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ ثَلَاثُونَ كَذَّابًا آخِرُهُمُ الْأَعْوَرُ الدَّجَّالُ مَمْسُوحُ الْعَيْنِ الْيُسْرَى كَأَنَّهَا عَيْنُ أَبِي يَحْيَى لِشَيْخٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ وَإِنَّهُ مَتَى خَرَجَ فَإِنَّهُ يَزْعُمُ أَنَّهُ اللَّهُ فَمَنْ آمَنَ بِهِ وَصَدَّقَهُ وَاتَّبَعَهُ فَلَيْسَ يَنْفَعُهُ صَالِحٌ مِنْ عَمَلٍ سَلَفَ وَمَنْ كَفَرَ بِهِ وَكَذَّبَهُ فَلَيْسَ يُعَاقَبُ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ سَلَفَ وَإِنَّهُ سَيَظْهَرُ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ كُلِّهَا إِلَّا الْحَرَمَ وَبَيْتَ الْمَقْدِسِ وَإِنَّهُ يَحْصُرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ فَيَتَزْلَزَلُونَ زِلْزَالًا شَدِيدًا فَيُصْبِحُ فِيهِمْ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ فَيَهْزِمُهُ اللَّهُ وَجُنُودَهُ حَتَّى إِنَّ أَجْدَمَ الْحَائِطِ وَأَصْلَ الشَّجَرِ لَيُنَادِي بِالْمُؤْمِنِ هَذَا كَافِرٌ يَسْتَتِرُ بِي فَتَعَالَ اقْتُلْهُ قَالَ فَلَنْ يَكُونَ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى تَرَوْنَ أُمُورًا يَتَفَاقَمُ شَأْنُهَا فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ تَسَاءَلُونَ بَيْنَكُمْ هَلْ كَانَ نَبِيِّكُمْ ﷺ ذَكَرَ لَكُمْ مِنْهَا ذِكْرًا وَحَتَّى تَزُولَ جِبَالٌ عَنْ مَرَاسِيهَا ثُمَّ عَلَى أَثَرِ ذَلِكَ الْقَبْضُ وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ قَالَ ثُمَّ شَهِدَ خُطْبَةً أُخْرَى قَالَ فَذَكَرَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ مَا قَدَّمَهَا وَلَا أَخَّرَهَا  

«هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ»

ذِكْرُ الْخَبَرِ الْمُدْحِضِ قَوْلَ مَنْ زَعَمَ أَنَّ الْكُسُوفَ يَكُونُ لِمَوْتِ الْعُظَمَاءِ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ

[Machine] He once stood as a preacher and mentioned a hadith in his sermon about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Samurah, one of the Ansar, said, "There was a young boy with me, and we used to throw arrows at a target during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . When the sun rose, it would shine in the eyes of the onlooker like the tip of a spear or two spears turned black. One of us said to his companion, 'Let's go to the Mosque of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and, by Allah, the sun will rise today and mention a hadith to the Messenger of Allah in his ummah.' So, we went towards the mosque until we encountered the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he came out and straightened his back and prayed. He stood with us as long as he ever stood in prayer, to the point where we could not hear his voice. Then he stood up and did the same in the second raka'ah. Then he sat, and as he sat, the sunlight cleared. He gave the Salam and left, and he praised Allah and glorified Him, and testified that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and that he is the servant of Allah and His Messenger. Then he said, 'O people, I am only human, a Messenger who warns you about Allah. If you know that I have omitted anything in conveying the message of my Lord, then let me know.' The people said, 'We bear witness that you have conveyed the message of your Lord, advised your ummah, and fulfilled what was upon you.' Then he said, 'As for what follows, there are people who claim that when an eclipse occurs for the sun and moon, and when stars are removed from their positions due to the death of great men from the people of the earth, they are lying. Rather, these are the signs of Allah by which He frightens His servants. Thus, let those of them who will repent, as by Allah, I have seen things that you have not encountered in your worldly affairs nor in your Hereafter since I stood praying. And by Allah, the Hour will not be established until thirty liars will emerge, one of whom is the one-eyed False Messiah (Dajjal), whose eye is like the raised lump of flesh on the side of 'Abi Talha, the blind man, between him and the room of 'A'ishah. It will appear that he (Dajjal) is Allah, so whoever believes in him, confirms his belief in him, and follows him, then his good deeds will not benefit him from the account of his past deeds. And he (Dajjal) will appear on the entire earth except for the Haram and the blessed land of Al-Masjid al-Aqsa. And truly, he will drive the Muslims towards Al-Masjid al-Aqsa, where they will be besieged intensely."  

ابن حبّان:٢٨٥٦أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَلْفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ الْبَزَّارُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ عَبَّادٍ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ قَالَ

قَامَ يَوْمًا خَطِيبًا فَذَكَرَ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ حَدِيثًا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ سَمُرَةُ بَيْنَا أَنَا وَغُلَامٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ نَرْمِي غَرَضًا لَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَتَّى إِذَا طَلَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَكَانَتْ فِي عَيْنِ النَّاظِرِ قِيدَ رُمْحٍ أَوْ رُمْحَيْنِ اسْوَدَّتْ فَقَالَ أَحَدُنَا لِصَاحِبِهِ انْطَلَقَ بِنَا إِلَى مَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَوَاللَّهِ لَتُحْدِثَنَّ هَذِهِ الشَّمْسُ الْيَوْمَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ فِي أُمَّتِهِ حَدِيثًا قَالَ فَدَفَعْنَا إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَوَافَقْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ حِينَ خَرَجَ فَاسْتَقَامَ فَصَلَّى فَقَامَ بِنَا كَأَطْوَلِ مَا قَامَ فِي صَلَاةٍ قَطُّ لَا نَسْمَعُ لَهُ صَوْتًا ثُمَّ قَامَ فَفَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ بِالرَّكْعَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ ثُمَّ جَلَسَ فَوَافَقَ جُلُوسَهُ تَجَلِّي الشَّمْسِ فَسَلَّمَ وَانْصَرَفَ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ وَشَهِدَ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنَّهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ رَسُولٌ أُذَكِّرُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنِّي قَصَّرْتُ عَنْ شَيْءٍ بِتَبْلِيغِ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّي لَمَّا أَخْبَرْتُمُونِي» فَقَالَ النَّاسُ نَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ قَدْ بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّكِ وَنَصَحْتَ لِأُمَّتِكَ وَقَضَيْتَ الَّذِي عَلَيْكَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَمَا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّ رِجَالًا يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّ كُسُوفَ هَذِهِ الشَّمْسِ وَكُسُوفَ هَذَا الْقَمَرِ وَزَوَالِ هَذِهِ النُّجُومِ عَنْ مَطَالِعِهَا لِمَوْتِ رِجَالٍ عُظَمَاءَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ وَإِنَّهُمْ كَذَبُوا وَلَكِنَّهَا آيَاتُ اللَّهِ يَعْتَبِرُ بِهَا عِبَادُهُ لَيَنْظُرَ مَنْ يُحَدِّثُ مِنْهُمْ تَوْبَةً وَإِنِّي وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ مَا أَنْتُمْ لَاقُونَ فِي أَمْرِ دُنْيَاكُمْ وَأَخِرَتِكُمْ مُذْ قُمْتُ أُصَلِّي وَإِنَّهُ وَاللَّهِ مَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ ثَلَاثُونَ كَذَّابًا أَحَدُهُمُ الْأَعْوَرُ الدَّجَّالُ مَمْسُوحُ عَيْنِ الْيُسْرَى كَأَنَّهَا عَيْنُ أَبِي تِحْيَى شَيْخٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ حُجْرَةِ عَائِشَةَ خَشَبَةٌ وَإِنَّهُ مَتَى يَخْرُجُ فَإِنَّهُ سَوْفَ يَزْعُمُ أَنَّهُ اللَّهُ فَمَنْ آمَنَ بِهِ وَصَدَّقَهُ وَاتَّبَعَهُ فَلَيْسَ يَنْفَعُهُ عَمِلٌ صَالِحٌ مِنْ عَمِلٍ سَلَفَ وَإِنَّهُ سَيَظْهَرُ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ كُلِّهَا غَيْرَ الْحَرَمِ وَبَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ وَإِنَّهُ يَسُوقُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ إِلَى بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ فَيُحَاصَرُونَ حِصَارًا شَدِيدًا»

[Machine] One of us said to his companion, "Let us go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and ask him about the solar eclipse and its significance for his Ummah." So we went to the mosque, and it was crowded with people. We coincided with the Prophet ﷺ coming out and leading the people in prayer, while we prayed after him. He stood for a long time, longer than any prayer we had ever witnessed from him. Then he prostrated for a long time, longer than any prostration we had ever witnessed from him. Then he repeated the same in the second unit of the prayer. And it coincided with the sun becoming clear again. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then finished the prayer, praised and glorified Allah, testified that there is no god but Allah, and that he is His servant and Messenger. Then he said, "O people, I am a human being, a Messenger. I remind you of Allah, if you know that I have omitted anything from conveying the messages of my Lord to you, have I conveyed the messages of my Lord as they should be conveyed?" They said, "We bear witness that you have conveyed the messages of your Lord and given sincere advice to your Ummah, and fulfilled what was required of you." Then he said, "Now, some people claim that the eclipse of the sun and moon or the disappearance of the stars from their positions are signs of the death of great men on earth. But they are lying. Rather, these are signs from the signs of Allah, by which He warns His servants, so that those among them who seek repentance may repent. I have seen this while standing in my place of prayer, which you cannot reach in your worldly and hereafter lives. The Hour will not be established until thirty liars appear, the last of whom is the one-eyed Dajjal. He will have the mark of the eye of Abu Tayyibah, a blind man from the Ansar, between his eyes and Aisha's room. The believers will be confined in the Sacred House and will be severely pressed, and they will be displaced greatly." Al-Aswad bin Qays said, "I thought he meant that Isa ibn Maryam ﷺ would emerge among them and Allah would defeat him and his army. Even if the wall adjoins a stump or the branch of a tree, it will say to the believer, 'This is a disbeliever who has concealed himself behind me, so come and kill him.' But it will not be as you think until you see things happening among you that will cause disputes and you will say to each other, 'Did your Prophet mention anything about this?' And even the mountains will move from their positions, and then comes the time of taking away." Ibn al-Mubarik said, "Meaning death."

أَحَدُنَا لِصَاحِبِهِ اذْهَبْ بِنَا لَيُحَدِّثَنَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي كُسُوفِ الشَّمْسِ فِي شَأْنِ أُمَّتِهِ حَدِيثًا فَانْتَهَيْنَا إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَإِذَا الْمَسْجِدُ مَلْآنُ بِأَزَزٍ وَوَافَقَ ذَلِكَ خُرُوجَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَاسْتَقْدَمَ وَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ وَنَحْنُ بَعْدَهُ فَقَامَ بِنَا كَأَطْوَلِ مَا قَامَ بِنَا فِي صَلَاةٍ لَا نَسْمَعُ لَهُ صَوْتًا ثُمَّ رَكَعَ بِنَا كَأَطْوَلِ مَا رَكَعَ بِنَا فِي صَلَاةٍ لَا نَسْمَعُ لَهُ صَوْتًا ثُمَّ سَجَدَ بِنَا كَأَطْوَلِ السُّجُودِ مَا نَسْمَعُ لَهُ صَوْتًا ثُمَّ فَعَلَ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ وَوَافَقَ تَجَلِّيَ الشَّمْسِ قُعُودُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ وَشَهِدَ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَشَهِدَ أَنَّهُ عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ رَسُولٌ أُذَكِّرُكُمْ بِاللهِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنِّي قَصَّرْتُ عَنْ شَيْءٍ مِنْ تَبْلِيغِ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّي لَمَا أَخْبَرْتُمُونِي فَبَلَّغْتُ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّي كَمَا يَنْبَغِي لَهَا أَنْ تُبَلَّغَ وَإِنْ كُنْتُ بَلَّغْتُ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّي لَمَا أَخْبَرْتُمُونِي؟» فَقَالُوا نَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّكَ وَنَصَحْتَ لِأُمَّتِكَ وَقَضَيْتَ الَّذِي عَلَيْكَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّ رِجَالًا يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّ كُسُوفَ هَذِهِ الشَّمْسِ وَهَذَا الْقَمَرِ أَوْ زَوَالَ النُّجُومِ عَنْ مَطَالِعِهَا لِمَوْتِ رِجَالٍ مِنْ عُظَمَاءِ الْأَرْضِ وَإِنَّهُمْ قَدْ كَذَبُوا وَلَكِنْ هُوَ آيَاتٌ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللهِ يَعْتَبِرُ بِهَا عِبَادُهُ لِيَنْظُرَ مَنْ يُحْدِثُ لَهُ مِنْهُمْ تَوْبَةً فَقَدْ أُرِيتُ فِي مَقَامِي وَأَنَا أُصَلِّي مَا أَنْتُمْ لَاقُونَ فِي دُنْيَاكُمْ وَآخِرَتِكُمْ وَلَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ ثَلَاثُونَ كَذَّابًا آخِرُهُمُ الْأَعْوَرُ الدَّجَّالُ مَمْسُوحُ الْعَيْنِ الْيُسْرَى كَأَنَّهَا عَيْنُ أَبِي تِحْيَى شَيْخٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ حُجْرَةِ عَائِشَةَ وَإِنَّهُ مَتَى خَرَجَ يَزْعُمُ أَنَّهُ اللهُ فَمَنْ آمَنَ بِهِ وَصَدَّقَهُ لَمْ يَنْفَعْهُ صَالِحٌ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ سَلَفَ وَمَنْ كَفَرَ بِهِ وَكَذَّبَ بِهِ لَمْ يُعَاقَبْ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ عَمَلٍ سَلَفَ وَإِنَّهُ سَيَظْهَرُ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ كُلِّهَا إِلَّا الْحَرَمَ وَبَيْتَ الْمَقْدِسِ وَإِنَّهُ سَيُحْصَرُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ فِي بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ حَصْرًا شَدِيدًا وَيُؤْزَلُونَ أَزْلًا شَدِيدًا» قَالَ الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ وَحَسِبْتُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ يُصْبِحُ فِيهِمْ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ ﷺ فَيَهْزِمُهُ اللهُ وَجُنُودَهُ حَتَّى إِنَّ جِذْمَ الْحَائِطِ وَغُصْنَ الشَّجَرِ لَيُنَادِي الْمُؤْمِنَ يَقُولُ هَذَا كَافِرٌ اسْتَتَرَ بِي تَعَالَ فَاقْتُلْهُ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ ذَلِكَ كَذَلِكَ حَتَّى تَرَوْنَ أَشْيَاءَ مِنْ شَأْنِكُمْ يَتَفَاقَمُ فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ حَتَّى تَسْأَلُونَ بَيْنَكُمْ هَلْ ذَكَرَ نَبِيُّكُمْ مِنْ هَذَا ذِكْرًا؟ وَحَتَّى تَزُولَ الْجِبَالُ عَنْ مَرَاتِبِهَا ثُمَّ يَكُونُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ الْقَبْضُ الْقَبْضُ قَالَ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ أَيِ الْمَوْتُ

[Machine] Narrated by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : While I was with a young boy from the Ansar, we were throwing pebbles at a target during the time of the Prophet ﷺ . Suddenly, the sun rose and a black spear or two spears from the horizon covered it until it illuminated as if it were a lantern. One of us said to his companion, "Let us go to the Prophet's ﷺ mosque, and by Allah, he will tell him about this today, and he will inform his nation about it." So, we went to the mosque and met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he came out to the people. He led us in prayer, and it was the longest prayer we had ever witnessed from him. Then, he made a prolonged bow, the longest we had ever seen from him in prayer. Then, he prostrated for a long time, the longest we had ever seen from him in prayer. After that, he stood up and prayed another rak'ah just like the first one. Then, he sat down, and the brightness of the sun disappeared. He greeted us and left, praising Allah and mentioning Him. Then, he said, "O people, I remind you of Allah. If you know that I have conveyed the message of my Lord, then bear witness. If you know that I have shortened the delivery of the message of my Lord, then bear witness." They said, "We bear witness that you have conveyed the message of your Lord, advised your ummah, and fulfilled your duty." Then, he said, "As for what follows, there are men who claim that the eclipse of the sun, the eclipse of the moon, and the disappearance of stars from their places are due to the death of great men from the people of the earth, but they are lying. Rather, these are the signs of Allah by which He warns His servants, so that those among them who have deviated may repent. By Allah, I have seen things concerning your worldly affairs and your hereafter from the time I started praying until now. And by Allah, the Hour will not be established until thirty liars appear, the last of them being the one-eyed Antichrist. He will be wiping his eye, as if it were the eye of my cousin, 'Abdullah bin Abi Quhafah, between whose house and the room of 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with them both) there is a distance. Indeed, when he appears, he will claim to be Allah. Whoever believes in him and affirms his claim, will not benefit from any good deeds he had done before. Whoever disbelieves in him and fights against him, will not be inflicted with any punishment for his previous deeds. Indeed, he will appear on the earth, except for the Haram (Makkah) and the holy land (Jerusalem). He will lead people to Jerusalem, where they will be surrounded to an extreme extent." He said, "I thought that he mentioned that 'Isa ibn Maryam would appear among them in the morning and would kill him and his army until even the corners and pillars call out, 'O Muslim! O believer! This is a disbeliever hiding behind me, so come and kill him.' However, this will not occur until you witness severe and great matters occurring among yourselves, and you will argue among yourselves, 'Did your Prophet ﷺ mention that to you?'" Then, he said, "Afterward, the approaching of death."  

الطبراني:٦٧٩٨حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ قَالَا ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ عِبَادٍ قَالَ شَهِدْتُ سَمُرَةَ بْنَ جُنْدُبٍ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ فَذَكَرَ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ حَدِيثًا

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا أَنَا وَغُلَامٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ نَرْمِي غَرَضَيْنِ لَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِذْ طَلَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَكَانَتْ فِي عَيْنِ النَّاظِرِ قَيْدَ رُمْحٍ أَوْ رُمْحَيْنِ مِنَ الْأُفُقِ فَاسْوَدَّتْ حَتَّى أَضَاءَتْ كَأَنَّهَا تَنُّومَةٌ فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا لِصَاحِبِهِ انْطَلِقْ بِنَا إِلَى مَسْجِدِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَوَاللهِ لَيُحَدِّثَنَّ لَهُ مِنْ أَمْرِ هَذِهِ الشَّمْسِ الْيَوْمَ فِي أُمَّتِهِ حَدِيثًا قَالَ فَدَفَعْنَا إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَوَافَقْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ حِينَ خَرَجَ إِلَى النَّاسِ فَاسْتَقْدَمَ فَصَلَّى فَقَامَ بِنَا كَأَطْوَلِ مَا قَامَ بِنَا فِي صَلَاةٍ قَطُّ مَا نَسْمَعُ لَهُ صَوْتًا ثُمَّ رَكَعَ بِنَا كَأَطْوَلِ مَا رَكَعَ بِنَا فِي صَلَاةٍ قَطُّ مَا نَسْمَعُ لَهُ صَوْتًا ثُمَّ سَجَدَ بِنَا كَأَطْوَلِ مَا سَجَدَ بِنَا فِي صَلَاةٍ قَطُّ مَا نَسْمَعُ لَهُ صَوْتًا ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى بِنَا رَكْعَةً أُخْرَى مِثْلَهَا ثُمَّ جَلَسَ فَوَافَقَ جُلُوسُهُ تَجَلِّيَ الشَّمْسِ فَسَلَّمَ وَانْصَرَفَ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أُذَكِّرُكُمُ اللهَ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنِّي قَدْ بَلَّغْتُ رِسَالَةَ رَبِّي لَمَا أَخْبَرْتُمُونِي وَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنِّي قَصَّرْتُ عَنْ شَيْءٍ مِنْ تَبْلِيغِ رِسَالَةِ رَبِّي لَمَا أَخْبَرْتُمُونِي» قَالُوا نَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَةَ رَبِّكَ وَنَصَحْتَ لِأُمَّتِكَ وَقَضَيْتَ الَّذِي عَلَيْكَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّ رِجَالًا يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّ كُسُوفَ هَذِهِ الشَّمْسِ وخُسُوفَ هَذَا الْقَمَرِ وَزَوَالَ النُّجُومِ عَنْ مَطَالِعِهَا لِمَوْتِ رِجَالٍ عُظَمَاءَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ وَإِنَّهُمْ قَدْ كَذَبُوا وَلَكِنْ إِنَّمَا هِيَ آيَاتُ اللهِ يَعْتَبِرُ بِهَا عِبَادُهُ لِيَنْظُرَ مَنْ يُحْدِثُ لَهُ مِنْهُمْ تَوْبَةً وَإِنِّي وَاللهِ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ مَا أَنْتُمْ لَاقُونَ مِنْ أَمْرِ دُنْيَاكُمْ وَآخِرَتِكُمْ مُنْذُ قُمْتُ أُصَلِّي وَإِنَّهُ وَاللهِ لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ ثَلَاثُونَ كَذَّابًا آخِرُهُمُ الْأَعْوَرُ الدَّجَّالُ مَمْسُوحُ الْعَيْنِ الْيُسْرَى كَأَنَّهَا عَيْنُ أَبِي يِحْيَى شَيْخٍ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ حُجْرَةِ عَائِشَةَ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَإِنَّهُ مَتَى يَخْرُجْ فَسَوْفَ يَزْعُمُ أَنَّهُ اللهُ فَمَنْ آمَنَ بِهِ وَصَدَّقَهُ فَلَيْسَ يَنْفَعُهُ صَالِحٌ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ سَلَفَ وَمَنْ كَفَرَ بِهِ وَقَاتَلَهُ فَلَيْسَ يُعَاقَبُ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ سَلَفَ وَإِنَّهُ سَيَظْهَرُ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ كُلِّهَا غَيْرَ الْحَرَمِ وَبَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ وَإِنَّهُ يَسُوقُ النَّاسَ إِلَى بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ فَيُحْصَرُونَ حَصْرًا شَدِيدًا» قَالَ وَأَحْسِبُهُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ فَيُصْبِحُ فِيهِمْ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ فَيَقْتُلُهُ وَجُنُودَهُ حَتَّى إِنَّ الْحَجَرَ أَوْ جِذْمَ الْحَائِطِ لَيُنَادِي يَا مُسْلِمُ أَوْ يَا مُؤْمِنُ هَذَا كَافِرٌ مُسْتَتِرٌ بِي فَتَعَالَ فَاقْتُلْهُ وَلَنْ يَكُونَ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى تَرَوْا أُمُورًا عِظَامًا يَتَفَاقَمُ شَأْنُهَا فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ وَتَسَاءَلُونَ بَيْنَكُمْ هَلْ كَانَ نَبِيُّكُمْ ﷺ ذَكَرَ لَكُمْ مِنْهَا ذِكْرًا؟ ثُمَّ قَالَ «عَلَى إِثْرِ ذَلِكَ الْقَبْضُ»

[Machine] We set out in the month of Hajj that we had pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , at Al-Aqaba, with the polytheists of our people. With us was Al-Bara' bin Ma'rur, our elder, and our leader. When we reached the outskirts of the desert, he said, "O people, you know that I have seen a vision, and I don't know if you agree with me on it or not." We asked, "What is it, O Abu Al-Bashar?" He said, "I saw that I was praying towards this structure (the Kaaba) instead of facing my back to it." We said, "No, by Allah, you should not do that, for we have heard that our Prophet, ﷺ , only prays towards the Sham (the Levant)." He said, "By Allah, I will always pray towards it." Whenever the time for prayer came, he would face the Kaaba, and we faced the Sham, until we reached Makkah. Al-Bara' bin Ma'rur said to me, "O cousin, come with us to the Messenger of Allah so that we may ask him about what we have done on this journey. For I have found something different in myself compared to all of you." So we went to the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , and we met a man near Al-Abtah, and we said to him, "Show us the way to Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Abdul-Muttalib." He asked, "Do you know him if you see him?" We said, "No, by Allah, we don't know him, nor have we seen the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ ." He asked, "Do you know Al-Abbas bin Abdul-Muttalib?" We answered, "Yes, we know him, for we used to trade with him." He said, "When you enter the mosque, look for Al-Abbas, for he is the man with him." So we entered the mosque, and the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , and Al-Abbas were sitting on one side of the mosque. We greeted them and sat down. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , asked, "Do you know these two men?" When they hesitated, he said, "This is Al-Bara' bin Ma'rur, the leader of his people, and this is Ka'b bin Malik." Al-Bara' bin Ma'rur said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have seen a vision on this journey that I wanted to ask you about, so that you may tell me what I should do." The Prophet, ﷺ , asked, "What is it?" He replied, "I saw that I should not turn my back on this structure (the Kaaba) while praying, so I prayed towards it." The Prophet, ﷺ , said, "You were on the right direction, and if you had been patient with it, it would have been enough for you." Then he returned to the direction the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , used to face (towards the Sham), and his family kept saying that he died facing it, but we know better. He went back to the direction the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , used to face, and he prayed with us towards the Sham.

خَرَجْنَا فِي الْحِجَّةِ الَّتِي بَايَعْنَا بِهَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ الْعَقَبَةَ مَعَ مُشْرِكِي قَوْمِنَا وَمَعَنَا الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ مَعْرُورٍ كَبِيرُنَا وَسَيِّدُنَا حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا بِظَاهِرِ الْبَيْدَاءِ قَالَ يَا هَؤُلَاءِ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنِّي قَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَأَيًا مَا أَدْرِي أَتُوَافِقُونِي عَلَيْهِ أَمْ لَا؟ قُلْنَا مَا هُوَ يَا أَبَا الْبَشَرِ؟ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ أَنِّي أُصَلِّي إِلَى هَذِهِ الْبَنِيَّةِ وَلَا أَجْعَلُهَا مِنِّي بِظَهْرٍ قُلْنَا لَا وَاللهِ لَا تَفْعَلُ مَا بَلَغَنَا أَنَّ نَبِيَّنَا ﷺ لَا يُصَلِّي إِلَّا إِلَى الشَّامِ قَالَ فَإِنِّي وَاللهِ لِمُصَلٍّ إِلَيْهَا وَكَانَ إِذَا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ تَوَجَّهَ إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ وَتَوَجَّهْنَا إِلَى الشَّامِ حَتَّى قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ فَقَالَ لِي الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ مَعْرُورٍ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي انْطَلَقْ بِنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ حَتَّى نَسْأَلَهُ عَمَّا صَنَعْنَا فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا فَلَقَدْ وَجَدْتُ فِي نَفْسِي مِنْهُ بِخِلَافِكُمْ إِيَّايَ فَخَرَجْنَا نَسْأَلُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَقِيَنَا رَجُلٌ بِالْأَبْطَحِ فَقُلْنَا لَهُ تَدُلُّنَا عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ قَالَ وَهَلْ تَعْرِفَانِهِ إِذَا رَأْيُتَمَاهُ؟ قُلْنَا لَا وَاللهِ مَا نَعْرِفُهُ وَلَمْ نَكُنْ رَأَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فَهَلْ تَعْرَفَانِ الْعَبَّاسَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ؟ قُلْنَا نَعَمْ وَقَدْ كُنَّا نَعْرِفُهُ كَانَ يَخْتَلِفُ إِلَيْنَا بِالتِّجَارَةِ قَالَ فَإِذَا دَخَلْتُمَا الْمَسْجِدَ فَانْظُرَا الْعَبَّاسَ فَهُوَ الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي مَعَهُ فَدَخَلْنَا الْمَسْجِدَ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَالْعَبَّاسُ فِي نَاحِيَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ جَالِسَانِ فَسَلَّمْنَا وَجَلَسْنَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «هَلْ تَعْرِفُ هَذَيْنِ الرَّجُلَيْنِ؟» فَلَمَّا انْفَتَلَ قَالَ نَعَمْ هَذَا الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ مَعْرُورٍ سَيِّدُ قَوْمِهِ وَهَذَا كَعْبُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ فَوَاللهِ مَا أَنْسَى قَوْلَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ «الشَّاعِرَ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ لَهُ الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ مَعْرُورٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي قَدْ كُنْتُ رَأَيْتُ فِي سَفَرِي هَذَا رَأَيًا قَدْ أَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَكَ عَنْهُ لَتُخْبِرَنِّي عَمَّا صَنَعْتُ فِيهِ قَالَ «وَمَا ذَلِكَ؟» قَالَ رَأَيْتُ أَنْ لَا أَجْعَلَ هَذِهِ الْبَنِيَّةَ مِنِّي بِظَهْرٍ فَصَلَّيْتُ إِلَيْهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «قَدْ كُنْتَ عَلَى قِبْلَةٍ لَوْ صَبَرْتَ إِلَيْهَا» فَرَجَعَ إِلَى قِبْلَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَهْلُهُ يَقُولُونَ قَدْ مَاتَ عَلَيْهَا وَنَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ قَدْ رَجَعَ إِلَى قِبْلَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ فَصَلَّى مَعَنَا إِلَى الشَّامِ

[Machine] We set out in the Hajj in which we pledged our allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Al-Aqaba, along with the polytheists of our people. Al-Bara' ibn Ma'rur, our elder, and our leader were with us. When we were in the desert plain, he said, "O people, do you know that I have seen something, but I do not know if you will agree with me or not?" We said, "What is it, O Abu Al-Bashar?" He said, "I saw that I should pray towards this structure and not make it behind me." We said, "No, by Allah, do not do what we have heard that our Prophet ﷺ does not pray except towards Sham (Greater Syria)." He said, "By Allah, I will pray towards it." And whenever the time for prayer approached, he would face the Ka'bah and we would face Sham until we reached Makkah. Al-Bara' ibn Ma'rur said to me, "O nephew, come with us to the Messenger of Allah so that we can ask him about what we have done in this journey. I found something in myself that differed from you, so we went to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. We met a man in Al-Abtah and said to him, "Guide us to Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abdul-Muttalib." He said, "Do you know him if you see him?" We said, "No, by Allah, we do not know him, and we have not seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." He said, "Do you know Abbas ibn Abdul-Muttalib?" We said, "Yes, and we know him. He used to come to us for trade." He said, "When you enter the mosque, look at Abbas. He is the man with him." So we entered the mosque and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abbas were sitting in one corner of the mosque. We greeted him and sat down. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do you know these two men?" When we were nervous, he said, "Yes, this is Al-Bara' ibn Ma'rur, the leader of his people, and this is Ka'b ibn Malik." Al-Bara' ibn Ma'rur said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have seen something in this journey that I wanted to ask you about, so you can inform me of what I have done." He said, "What is it?" He said, "I saw that I should not make this structure behind me, so I prayed towards it." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You were upon the Qiblah (direction of prayer) that if you endured it." So he returned to the Qiblah of the Messenger of Allah and his family while we were saying that he died on it, and we knew better about it. He returned to the Qiblah of the Messenger of Allah and prayed with us towards Sham.

When we reached the outskirts of the desert, he said, "O people, you know that I have seen a vision. I do not know if you would agree with me or not?" We asked, "What is it, O father of mankind?" He said, "I saw that I was praying towards this structure (meaning Al-Quds) and I did not consider it to be from among me. We said, "No, by Allah, do not do what we have been informed about our Prophet, ﷺ , that he only prays towards Ash-Sham.” He said, "By Allah, I will face it (Al-Quds) during prayer." And whenever prayer time would come, he would turn towards the Ka'bah, while we would turn towards Ash-Sham until we reached Makkah. Then, Bara' bin Ma'rur said to me, "O son of my brother, come with us to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ so that we may ask him about what we have done in this journey. For I found in myself something different from what you all found in yourselves." So we went to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and we met a man at the door. We said to him, "Show us the way to Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Abdul-Muttalib." He asked, "Do you recognize him if you see him?" We said, "No, by Allah, we do not recognize him, nor have we seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." He asked, "Do you recognize Al-Abbas bin Abdul-Muttalib?" We said, "Yes, we do. We know him as he used to trade with us." Then he said, "When you enter the mosque, look for Al-Abbas. He is the man accompanying him." So we entered the mosque and saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Al-Abbas sitting on one side of the mosque. We greeted them and sat down. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do you know these two men?" When we hesitated, he said, "This is Bara' bin Ma'rur, the leader of his people, and this is Ka'b bin Malik." Then Al-Abbas said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , "O Messenger of Allah, I have seen a vision during this journey and I would like to ask you about it." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "What is it?" He replied, "I saw that I should not make this structure (Al-Quds) part of me during prayer. So I prayed towards it." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You were on the right path, and if only you could have endured it." Then he turned towards the Qibla of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his family, as they say, "He died upon it." And we know best about it. He returned to the Qibla of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and prayed with us towards Ash-Sham.

The polytheists of our people, along with the senior members of our community, including the Prophet's cousin Al-Bara' bin Ma'rur, went with us. When we reached the outskirts of the wilderness, he said, "O people, you know that I have seen a vision and I do not know if you will agree with me or not." We asked, "What is it, O Abu Al-Bashar?" He said, "I saw that I am praying towards this structure and I do not take it as my Qibla. We responded, "No, by Allah, you should not do what we have been informed that our Prophet ﷺ does not pray except towards Ash-Sham (the Levant)." He said, "By Allah, I am going to pray towards it." He used to face the Ka'bah when the time for prayer came, but we faced Ash-Sham until we reached Makkah. Then Al-Bara' bin Ma'rur said to me, "O my nephew, go to the Messenger of Allah and ask him about what we have done on this journey, for I have noticed a difference between him and you." So, we went to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and we met a man at the entrance of At-Tan'im. We asked him to direct us to Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Abdul-Muttalib. He asked, "Do you recognize him if you see him?" We replied, "No, by Allah, we do not recognize him, nor have we seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." He then asked, "Do you recognize Al-Abbas bin Abdul-Muttalib?" We replied, "Yes, we do. We are familiar with him as he used to visit us for trade." He said, "When you enter the Masjid, look for Al-Abbas, for he is the man accompanying him." So, we entered the Masjid and found the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Al-Abbas sitting to the side. We greeted them and sat down. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do you recognize these two men?" When he paused, we replied, "Yes, this is Al-Bara' bin Ma'rur, the leader of his people, and this is Ka'b bin Malik." Al-Bara' bin Ma'rur then asked, "O Messenger of Allah, I have seen something in this journey that I wanted to ask you about, so you could inform me of what I have done." The Prophet ﷺ asked, "What is it?" Al-Bara' replied, "I saw that I should not take this structure as my Qibla, so I prayed towards it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You were upon a previous Qibla, if you had been patient and continued to pray towards it." So, the Prophet ﷺ returned to the previous Qibla and his family and companions were saying that he had died upon it, and we were more aware of him. He returned to the previous Qibla and performed the prayer with us facing Ash-Sham.  

الطبراني:١٦٢٨٥dحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي مَعْبَدُ بْنُ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْقَيْنِ أَخُو بَنِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَخِيهِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

خَرَجْنَا فِي الْحِجَّةِ الَّتِي بَايَعْنَا بِهَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ الْعَقَبَةَ مَعَ مُشْرِكِي قَوْمِنَا وَمَعَنَا الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ مَعْرُورٍ كَبِيرُنَا وَسَيِّدُنَا حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا بِظَاهِرِ الْبَيْدَاءِ قَالَ يَا هَؤُلَاءِ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنِّي قَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَأَيًا مَا أَدْرِي أَتُوَافِقُونِي عَلَيْهِ أَمْ لَا؟ قُلْنَا مَا هُوَ يَا أَبَا الْبَشَرِ؟ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ أَنِّي أُصَلِّي إِلَى هَذِهِ الْبَنِيَّةِ وَلَا أَجْعَلُهَا مِنِّي بِظَهْرٍ قُلْنَا لَا وَاللهِ لَا تَفْعَلُ مَا بَلَغَنَا أَنَّ نَبِيَّنَا ﷺ لَا يُصَلِّي إِلَّا إِلَى الشَّامِ قَالَ فَإِنِّي وَاللهِ لِمُصَلٍّ إِلَيْهَا وَكَانَ إِذَا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ تَوَجَّهَ إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ وَتَوَجَّهْنَا إِلَى الشَّامِ حَتَّى قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ فَقَالَ لِي الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ مَعْرُورٍ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي انْطَلَقْ بِنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ حَتَّى نَسْأَلَهُ عَمَّا صَنَعْنَا فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا فَلَقَدْ وَجَدْتُ فِي نَفْسِي مِنْهُ بِخِلَافِكُمْ إِيَّايَ فَخَرَجْنَا نَسْأَلُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَقِيَنَا رَجُلٌ بِالْأَبْطَحِ فَقُلْنَا لَهُ تَدُلُّنَا عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ قَالَ وَهَلْ تَعْرِفَانِهِ إِذَا رَأْيُتَمَاهُ؟ قُلْنَا لَا وَاللهِ مَا نَعْرِفُهُ وَلَمْ نَكُنْ رَأَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فَهَلْ تَعْرَفَانِ الْعَبَّاسَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ؟ قُلْنَا نَعَمْ وَقَدْ كُنَّا نَعْرِفُهُ كَانَ يَخْتَلِفُ إِلَيْنَا بِالتِّجَارَةِ قَالَ فَإِذَا دَخَلْتُمَا الْمَسْجِدَ فَانْظُرَا الْعَبَّاسَ فَهُوَ الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي مَعَهُ فَدَخَلْنَا الْمَسْجِدَ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَالْعَبَّاسُ فِي نَاحِيَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ جَالِسَانِ فَسَلَّمْنَا وَجَلَسْنَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «هَلْ تَعْرِفُ هَذَيْنِ الرَّجُلَيْنِ؟» فَلَمَّا انْفَتَلَ قَالَ نَعَمْ هَذَا الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ مَعْرُورٍ سَيِّدُ قَوْمِهِ وَهَذَا كَعْبُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ فَوَاللهِ مَا أَنْسَى قَوْلَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ «الشَّاعِرَ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ لَهُ الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ مَعْرُورٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي قَدْ كُنْتُ رَأَيْتُ فِي سَفَرِي هَذَا رَأَيًا قَدْ أَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَكَ عَنْهُ لَتُخْبِرَنِّي عَمَّا صَنَعْتُ فِيهِ قَالَ «وَمَا ذَلِكَ؟» قَالَ رَأَيْتُ أَنْ لَا أَجْعَلَ هَذِهِ الْبَنِيَّةَ مِنِّي بِظَهْرٍ فَصَلَّيْتُ إِلَيْهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «قَدْ كُنْتَ عَلَى قِبْلَةٍ لَوْ صَبَرْتَ إِلَيْهَا» فَرَجَعَ إِلَى قِبْلَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَهْلُهُ يَقُولُونَ قَدْ مَاتَ عَلَيْهَا وَنَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ قَدْ رَجَعَ إِلَى قِبْلَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ فَصَلَّى مَعَنَا إِلَى الشَّامِ
