Along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ we besieged the palace of at-Ta'if. The narrator, Mutadh, said: I heard my father (sometimes) say: "Palace of at-Ta'if," and (sometimes) "Fort of at-Ta'if," which are the same. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: he who causes an arrow to hit its mark in Allah's cause will have it counted as a degree for him (in Paradise). He then transmitted the rest of the tradition. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: If a Muslim man emancipates a Muslim man, Allah, the Exalted, will make every bone of his protection for every bone of his emancipator from Hell; and if a Muslim woman emancipates a Muslim woman, Allah will make every bone of hers protection for every bone of her emancipator from Hell on the Day of Resurrection.

حَاصَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِقَصْرِ الطَّائِفِ قَالَ مُعَاذٌ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ بِقَصْرِ الطَّائِفِ بِحِصْنِ الطَّائِفِ كُلُّ ذَلِكَ فَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ بَلَغَ بِسَهْمٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ﷻ فَلَهُ دَرَجَةٌ وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ وَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ أَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ أَعْتَقَ رَجُلاً مُسْلِمًا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ ﷻ جَاعِلٌ وِقَاءَ كُلِّ عَظْمٍ مِنْ عِظَامِهِ عَظْمًا مِنْ عِظَامِ مُحَرَّرِهِ مِنَ النَّارِ وَأَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ أَعْتَقَتِ امْرَأَةً مُسْلِمَةً فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ جَاعِلٌ وِقَاءَ كُلِّ عَظْمٍ مِنْ عِظَامِهَا عَظْمًا مِنْ عِظَامِ مُحَرَّرِهَا مِنَ النَّارِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

"If a man emancipates two Muslim women, they will be deliverance from Hell fire; two bones of their will be emancipation for each of his bone." Abu Dawud said: Salim did not hear (traditions) from Shurahbil. Shurahbil died at Siffin.

حَدِّثْنَا حَدِيثًا سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَى مُعَاذٍ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ وَأَيُّمَا امْرِئٍ أَعْتَقَ مُسْلِمًا وَأَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ أَعْتَقَتِ امْرَأَةً مُسْلِمَةً زَادَ وَأَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ أَعْتَقَ امْرَأَتَيْنِ مُسْلِمَتَيْنِ إِلاَّ كَانَتَا فِكَاكَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ يُجْزَى مَكَانَ كُلِّ عَظْمَيْنِ مِنْهُمَا عَظْمٌ مِنْ عِظَامِهِ

"Any Muslim man who frees a Muslim man, then it is his salvation from the Fire - each of his limbs suffices for a limb of himself. And any Muslim man that frees two Muslim women, then are his salvation from the Fire - each of their limbs suffices for a limb of himself. And any Muslim woman that frees a Muslim woman, then she is her salvation from the Fire - each of her limb suffices for a limb of herself."

I said to Ka'b bin Murrah, tell us a Hadith from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, but be careful. [AI] We besieged the fortress or palace of Ta'if with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He said, "Whoever reaches the enemy's line with an arrow in the cause of Allah will have a rank in Paradise." That day, I shot sixteen arrows. Whoever shoots an arrow in the cause of Allah will have a justly freed slave as his share. Whoever is struck with white hair in the cause of Allah will have a light on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever frees a Muslim slave, Allah will make every bone from his bones a bone from the fire. And whoever frees a Muslim woman, Allah will make every bone from her bones a bone from the fire.

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah (May ﷺ ) say, "Whoever frees a Muslim slave, Allah will make every bone from his bones a bone from the fire. And whoever emancipates a female Muslim slave, Allah will make every bone from her bones a bone from the fire."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «أَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ أَعْتَقَ رَجُلًا مُسْلِمًا فَإِنَّ اللهَ يَجْعَلُ وِقَاءَ كُلِّ عَظْمٍ مِنْ عِظَامِهِ عَظْمًا مِنْ عِظَامِ مُحَرَّرَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ وَأَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ مَسْلَمَةٍ أَعْتَقَتِ امْرَأَةً مَسْلَمَةً فَإِنَّ اللهَ جَاعِلٌ وِقَاءَ كُلِّ عَظْمٍ مِنْ عِظَامِهَا عَظْمًا مِنْ عَظْمِ مُحَرَّرِهَا مِنَ النَّارِ»

[AI] I asked the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , which night is the most heard (by Allah)? He replied, "The last third of the night." He also used to say, "Whoever frees a Muslim slave, his freedom from the Fire will be to free each limb of the slave with a limb (of his own body), and whoever frees a Muslim woman slave, his freedom from the Fire will be to free each limb of her with a limb (of his own body)."

سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَيُّ اللَّيْلِ أَسْمَعُ؟ قَالَ «جَوْفُ اللَّيْلِ الْآخِرِ» قَالَ وَكَانَ يَقُولُ «أَيُّمَا امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ أَعْتَقَ امْرَأً مُسْلِمًا فَهُوَ فِكَاكُهُ مِنَ النَّارِ يُجْزِئُ كُلُّ عَظْمٍ مِنْهُ عَظْمًا وَأَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ مَسْلَمَةٍ أَعْتَقَتِ امْرَأَةً مَسْلَمَةً فَهُوَ فِكَاكُهَا مِنَ النَّارِ كُلُّ عَظْمٍ مِنْهَا عَظْمٌ مِنْهَا»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever frees a Muslim slave, it will be his ransom from the Hellfire, limb by limb. And whoever frees two Muslim slave women, it will be his ransom from the Hellfire, two limbs by two limbs. And whoever frees a Muslim woman, it will be her ransom from the Hellfire, limb by limb."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَيُّمَا امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ أَعْتَقَ امْرَأً مُسْلِمًا فَهُوَ فِكَاكُهُ مِنَ النَّارِ عَظْمٌ بِعَظْمٍ وَأَيُّمَا امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ أَعْتَقَ امْرَأَتَيْنِ مُسْلِمَتَيْنِ فَهُوَ فِكَاكُهُ مِنَ النَّارِ عَظْمَتَيْنِ مِنْهَا بِعَظْمٍ وَأَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ مَسْلَمَةٍ أَعْتَقَتِ امْرَأَةً مَسْلَمَةً فَهِيَ فِكَاكُهَا مِنَ النَّارِ عَظْمٌ بِعَظْمٍ»

[AI] Narrated to us a Hadith that you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : "Your father for Allah and be cautious." He said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Whoever emancipates a Muslim slave, then his reward for freeing him will be a bone for every bone in the slave's body, and whoever emancipates two Muslim women, then their reward for freeing them will be two bones for every bone in their bodies, and whoever a Muslim woman emancipates another Muslim woman, then her reward for freeing her will be a bone for every bone in her body.'"

حَدِّثْنَا حَدِيثًا سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لِلَّهِ أَبُوكَ وَاحْذَرْ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ أَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ أَعْتَقَ رَجُلًا مُسْلِمًا كَانَ فِكَاكَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ يُجْزَى بِكُلِّ عَظْمٍ مِنْ عِظَامِهِ عَظْمًا مِنْ عِظَامِهِ وَأَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ أَعْتَقَ امْرَأَتَيْنِ مُسْلِمَتَيْنِ كَانَتَا فِكَاكَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ يُجْزَى بِكُلِّ عَظْمَيْنِ مِنْ عِظَامِهِمَا عَظْمًا مِنْ عِظَامِهِ وَأَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ مَسْلَمَةٍ أَعْتَقَتِ امْرَأَةً مَسْلَمَةً كَانَتْ فِكَاكَهَا مِنَ النَّارِ تُجْزَى بِكُلِّ عَظْمٍ مِنْ عِظَامِهَا عَظْمًا مِنْ عِظَامِهَا

[AI] We surrounded the palace of Ta'if with the Prophet ﷺ , and I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Whoever throws an arrow in the cause of Allah, it will be a freeing of a slave for him." On that day, I reached sixteen arrows, and I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Whoever throws an arrow in the cause of Allah, it will be a rank for him in Paradise. And whoever becomes gray-haired in Islam, it will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection. And whatever Muslim man frees a Muslim slave, then Allah will make every bone of his from the bones of hellfire a bone from the bones of his freed slave. And whatever Muslim woman frees a Muslim woman, then Allah will make every bone of hers from the bones of hellfire a bone from the bones of her freed slave."

"أَيُّمَا امرئ مُسْلِم أعتقَ امْرأ مَسْلِمًا فَهُوَ فكَاكُهُ مِنَ النَّار، يُجْزَى بكُلِّ عَظمٍ منْهُ، وَأَيمَا امْرأَة مُسْلِمَة أعْتَقَتْ امْرأَةً مُسْلمَةً فهِيَ فَكَاكها مِنْ النَّارِ يُجْزى بكُلِّ عَظمٍ مِنْهَا عظمًا منها، وأَيُّمَا امْرئ مسلم أَعتَقَ امْرأَتَين مُسْلِمَتَين فَهُما فَكَاكُهُ مِنَ النَّارِ، يُجْزَى بكُلِّ عَظمَتين مِنْهُمَا عَظمًا منه ".

"أيُّمَا رَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ أَعْتَقَ رَجُلًا مُسْلِمًا فَإِنَّ اللهَ تعالى جَاعِلُ وقَاءَ كُل عَظمٍ مِنْ عِظَامِهِ عَظمًا مِنْ عِظَام مُحَرّرة مِنَ النَّارِ، وَأَيمَا امْرَأة مُسْلِمَة أعْتَقَتْ امْرَأةً مُسْلِمَةً فَإِنَّ اللهَ تعالى جَاعِلُ وقَاءَ كُل عَظمٍ مِنْ عِظَامِهَا عَظمًا مِنْ عِظَام مُحرّرِها مِنَ النَّارِ يَومَ القِيَامَةِ".
