Messenger of Allah, you forbade to practise incantation, whereas I employ it for curing the sting of the scorpion, whereupon he said: He who amongst you is capable of employing it as a means to do good should do that. (Using translation from Muslim 2199c)  

أحمد:١٤٢٣١حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

[Machine] He said, "O Messenger of Allah, should I seek refuge from the scorpion?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever among you is able to benefit his brother with something, then let him do so."

We know an incantation which we use for curing the sting of the scorpion but you have prohibited it. They recited (the words of incantation) before him, whereupon he said: I do not see any harm (in it), so he who amongst you is competent to do good to his brother should do that. [Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, indeed you have prohibited ruqyah, but I perform it with the snake." He said, "Tell me the details." So, he narrated the incident to him, and he said, "There is no harm in this, these are covenants." He said, "And my close relative from the Ansar came, and he used to perform ruqyah with scorpions." He said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed you have prohibited ruqyah, but I perform it with scorpions." He said, "Whoever is able to benefit his brother, then let him do so."

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ نَهَيْتَ عَنِ الرُّقَى وَأَنَا أَرْقِي مِنَ الْحَيَّةِ قَالَ «قُصَّهَا عَلَيَّ» فَقَصَّهَا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ «لَا بَأْسَ بِهَذِهِ هَذِهِ مَوَاثِيقُ» قَالَ وَجَاءَ خَالِي مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ وَكَانَ يَرْقِي مِنَ الْعَقْرَبِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ نَهَيْتَ عَنِ الرُّقَى وَأَنَا أَرْقِي مِنَ الْعَقْرَبِ قَالَ «مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ أَنْ يَنْفَعَ أَخَاهُ فَلْيَفْعَلْ»

ibnhibban:6091Abū Yaʿlá Bi-al-Mawṣil > Surayj b. Yūnus > ʿAbīdah b. Ḥumayd > al-Aʿmash > Abū Sufyān > Jābir

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited sorcery. I have a relative who is affected by scorpion venom, so I came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned this to him. He said, "Whoever among you is able to benefit his brother, then let him do so."  

ابن حبّان:٦٠٩١أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى بِالْمَوْصِلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ يُونُسَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبِيدَةُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنِ الرُّقَى وَلِي خَالٌ يَرْقِي مِنَ الْعَقْرَبِ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ «مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَنْفَعَ أَخَاهُ فَلْيَفْعَلْ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited the use of charms. It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, you have prohibited the use of charms?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Whoever among you is capable of benefiting his brother, then let him do so."

[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, indeed you have forbidden the practice of Ruqyah (recitation of healing verses and prayers) and I am more skilled in it than the snake." He (the Prophet) said, "Tell me about it." So, I told him about it and he said, "There is no harm in this, these are just remedies." Then, a man from the Ansar (helpers of the Prophet) came and he used to perform Ruqyah for scorpion stings. He said, "Whoever is capable of benefiting his brother should do so."
