Congregational prayer for the sake of God elevates one by degrees, and for whom Angels continue to supplicate

muslim:649fAbū Bakr b. Abū Shaybah And ʾAbū Kurayb > Abū Muʿāwiyah > Abū Kurayb > Abū Muʿāwiyah > al-Aʿmash > Abū Ṣāliḥ > Abū Hurayrah

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The reward for prayer performed by a person in congregation is more than twenty times greater than that of the prayer performed in one’s house or the marketplace. When one performs wuḍūʾ perfectly and then proceeds to the mosque with the sole intention of performing prayer, then for every step he takes towards the mosque, he is upgraded one degree in reward and one of his sins is eliminated until he enters the mosque."

"And when he enters the mosque, he is considered as performing prayer as long as it is the prayer which stops him ˹from leaving the mosque˺; and the angels keep on supplicating Allah for him as long as he remains in his place of prayer. They say: ‘O Allah! Have mercy on him; O Allah! forgive his sins; O Allah! accept his repentance.' ˹This continues, so long as he does cause harm ˹upon anyone˺ in it, or pass wind in it ˹breaking his wuḍūʾ˺ (in a different wording: or speak ˹to anyone˺).”

Prayer is not accepted unless one is ritually pure

tirmidhi:1[Chain 1] Qutaybah b. Saʿīd > Abū ʿAwānah > Simāk b. Ḥarb [Chain 2] Hannād > Wakīʿ > Isrāʾīl > Simāk > Muṣʿab b. Saʿd > Ibn ʿUmar

the Prophet said: "Ṣalāh will not be accepted without purification, nor charity from ˹impure sources˺."

Hannād said in his narration, "except with purification"

Abu ʿĪsá said: This Hadith is the most correct thing on this topic, and the best. There are also narrations on this topic from Abū al-Malīh > his father; and Abū Hurayrah and Anas; and Abu al-Malīh b. Usāmah's name is ʿĀmir and they also say it was Zayd b. Usāmah b. ʿUmayr al-Hudhalī.

The gate of repentance remains open until the Last Hour; Permissibility of wiping over socks; You will be among those you love in the Hereafter

tirmidhi:3535Ibn Abū ʿUmar > Sufyān > ʿĀṣim b. Abū al-Najūd > Zir b. Ḥubaysh

“I came to Ṣafwān b ʿAssāl al-Murādī to ask him about wiping over the socks, so he asked: ‘What has brought you, O Zirr?’ So I said: ‘The desire for knowledge.’ So he said: ‘Indeed, the angels lower their wings for the seeker of knowledge, out of pleasure with what he is seeking.’

So I said: ‘Indeed there is some doubt in my chest concerning wiping over the socks after defecation and urination, and you were a man from the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, so I came to you to ask you: Have you heard him ﷺ mention anything concerning that?’ He said: ‘Yes, he ﷺ used to order us, that when we were travelers’ - or - ‘in travel, to not remove our socks for three days and nights except, from sexual impurity, but not from defecation, urination, and sleep.’”

He said: “Have you heard him ﷺ mention anything concerning love?” He said: “Yes. We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey when a Bedouin with a loud voice called upon him (saying): ‘O Muhammad!’ So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ responded to him with a voice similar to him (saying): ‘Come.’ So we said to him: ‘Woe to you! Lower your voice for you are with the Prophet ﷺ, and you have been prohibited from this.’ He said: ‘By Allah, I will not lower (my voice).’ The Bedouin said: ‘Can a person love a people and yet not catch up to them ˹in terms of good deeds˺?’ He ﷺ said: ‘A person is with whomever he loves on the Day of Judgement.’”

So ˹the Prophet ﷺ˺ kept on talking to us until he mentioned a gate in the direction of the west with the width of seventy years journey - or a rider would travel its width - for forty or seventy years.” Sufyan added: “In the direction of Shām, Allah created it the day He created the heavens and the earth, being open – that is, for repentance – and it shall not be shut until the sun rises ˹from that direction˺ (on the Last Day).”

Abū ʿĪsá said that this Ḥadīth is Ḥasan-Ṣaḥīḥ.

Virtues of doing Wuḍūʾ and how sins fall off from body parts

ahmad:22267Abū al-Naḍr > ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd b. Bahrām > Shahr b. Ḥawshab > Abū Umāmah

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whenever a man performs his wuḍūʾ (ritual ablution) intending to pray and (1) he washes his hands, the sins of his hands fall down with the first drop. When (2) he rinses his mouth and (3) nose, the sins of his tongue and lips fall down with the first drop. When (4) he washes his face, the sins of his hearing and sight fall down with the first drop. When (5) he washes his arms to his elbows and (6) his feet to his ankles, he is purified from every sin and fault like the day he was born from his mother.”

He ˹also˺ said, "If he stands for prayer, Allah will raise his rank by a degree. ˹And thus,˺ when he sits, he will sit faultless.”
