ʿAbdullāh used to fast very little. We said to him that you do not fast much. He said: When I have fasted, I become weak in Ṣalāh, and Ṣalāh is more beloved to me than fasting.  

الطبراني:٨٨٧٠حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ

كَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ يُقِلُّ الصِّيَامَ فَقُلْنَا لَهُ إِنَّكَ تُقِلُّ الصَّوْمَ قَالَ «إِنِّي إِذَا صُمْتُ ضَعُفْتُ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ وَالصَّلَاةُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنَ الصِّيَامِ»

ʿAbdullāh used to fast very little. This ˹concern˺ was mentioned to him so he said: When I have fasted, I become weak reading, and reciting the Qurʾān is more beloved to me.

that he was almost unable to fast and said: When I have fasted, I become weak in Ṣalāh, and Ṣalāh is more beloved to me than fasting. So when he fasted he fasted three ˹days˺ of the month.
