suyuti:430-441bʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Yazīd

that ʿAbdullāh b. Masʿūd used to fast very little. ˹Concern˺ was mentioned to him so he said: When I have fasted, I become weak in Ṣalāh, and charity is more beloved to me than fasting.

"عَنِ عَبْد الرَّحْمَن بْنِ يَزِيد أَن عَبْدَ اللهِ بْن مَسْعُودٍ كَان يُقِلُّ الصَوم فَقيلَ له، فقال: إنى إِذَا صُمْتُ ضَعُفْتُ عَنْ الصَّلاةِ، وَالصَّدَقَة أحَبُّ إِلَى مِنْ الصَّوْمِ".
