[Machine] Ibn Masud, I recited Surah An-Nisa to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and when I came to this verse, "So how [will it be] when We bring from every nation a witness and we bring you, [O Muhammad] against these [people] as a witness?" His eyes overflowed with tears.  

الطبراني:٨٤٦٦حَدَّثَنَا أَسْلَمُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ ثنا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي رَزِينٍ قَالَ قَالَ

ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ سُورَةَ النِّسَاءِ فَلَمَّا أَتَيْتُ عَلَى هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ {فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ شَهِيدًا} فَاضَتْ عَيْنَاهُ

So how ˹will it be˺ when We bring from every nation a witness and we bring you, ˹O Muhammad˺ against these ˹people˺ as a witness?  

So how shall it be, the predicament of the disbelievers, when We bring forward from every community a witness, to testify against it regarding its deeds, and this shall be its prophet; and We bring you, O Muhammad (s), as witness against these?
القرآن:٤:٤١

فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَىٰ هَٰؤُلَاءِ شَهِيدًا  

{فكيف} حال الكفـار {إذا جئنا من كل أمة بشهيد} يشهد عليها بعملها وهو نبيها {وجئنا بك} يا محمد {على هؤلاء شهيدا}.

“The Prophet ﷺ said to me: ‘Recite Qur’an to me,’ so I recited Surat An-Nisa’ to him, and when I reached (the Verse): “How (will it be) then, when We bring forth from each nation a witness and We bring you as a witness against these people?” [4:41] I looked at him, and his eyes were filled with tears.”  

ابن ماجة:٤١٩٤حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ

لِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ اقْرَأْ عَلَىَّ فَقَرَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ بِسُورَةِ النِّسَاءِ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغْتُ {فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلاَءِ شَهِيدًا} فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَإِذَا عَيْنَاهُ تَدْمَعَانِ

[Machine] "I recited to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from Surah An-Nisa, and when I reached this verse: 'So how [will it be] when We bring from every nation a witness and we bring you, [O Muhammad] against these [people] as a witness' [Quran 4:41], his eyes welled up with tears."  

أحمد:٣٥٥١حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ أَخْبَرَنَا مُغِيرَةُ عَنْ أَبِي رَزِينٍ عَنْ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Read Surah An-Nisa' to me." So I read until I reached the verse, "So how [will it be] when We bring from every nation a witness and we bring you, [O Muhammad], against these as a witness?" He either winked at me or turned his face, and when his eyes filled with tears. ﷺ  

ابن حبّان:٧٠٦٥أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مَوْلَى ثَقِيفٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ

لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «اقْرَأْ عَلَيَّ سُورَةَ النِّسَاءِ» فَقَرَأْتُ حَتَّى بَلَغْتُ {فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ شَهِيدًا} قَالَ إِمَّا غَمَزَنِي وَإِمَّا الْتَفَتُّ فَإِذَا عَيْنَاهُ تَسِيلَانِ ﷺ

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to weep when reciting this verse: 'So how [will it be] when We bring from every nation a witness and we bring you, [O Muhammad], against these [people] as a witness?' And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'O Lord, I have testified against those who are present, so how about those whom I have not seen?'"  

الطبراني:١٦٦٠٣حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ بُهْلُولٍ ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ لَبِيبَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا قَرَأَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ شَهِيدًا} بَكَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَالَ «يَا رَبُّ هَذَا شَهِدْتُ عَلَى مَنْ أَنَا بَيْنَ ظَهْرَيْهِ فَكَيْفَ بِمَنْ لَمْ أَرَ؟»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah said to him, "Read." So he began Surah An-Nisa' until he reached the verse, "So how [will it be] when We bring from every nation a witness and we bring you, [O Muhammad], against these as a witness?" His eyes filled with tears and he said, "Enough for us."  

الطبراني:٨٤٥٩حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجُعْفِيُّ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرٍّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَهُ «اقْرَأْ» فَافْتَتَحَ سُورَةَ النِّسَاءِ حَتَّى إِذَا انْتَهَى {فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ شَهِيدًا} الْآيَةُ دَمَعَتْ عَيْنَاهُ وَقَالَ «حَسْبُنَا»
