[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ doing that," Ibrahim said. "They used to see that wiping (after eating) was done after the tablecloth was brought down, because Ja'rir was one of the last of them to embrace Islam."

الطبراني:٢٤٢١ – حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ جَرِيرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ «§بَالَ ثُمَّ مَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ» فَقِيلَ لَهُ فَقَالَ

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ» قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ فَكَانُوا يَرَوْنَ أَنَّ الْمَسْحَ كَانَ بَعْدَ نُزُولِ الْمَائِدَةِ لِأَنَّ جَرِيرًا كَانَ مِنْ آخِرِهِمْ إِسْلَامًا

أحمد:١٩٢٣٤ – حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ أَنَّ جَرِيرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بَالَ وَتَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ فَقِيلَ لَهُ فَقَالَ

قَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَفْعَلُهُ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ كَانَ أَعْجَبَ ذَاكَ إِلَيْهِمْ لِأَنَّ إِسْلَامَ جَرِيرٍ كَانَ بَعْدَ الْمَائِدَةِ

ذِكْرُ الْخَبَرِ الْمُدْحِضِ قَوْلَ مَنْ زَعَمَ أَنَّ إِبَاحَةَ الْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ الْمَسْحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ كَانَ ذَلِكَ قَبْلَ أَمْرِ اللَّهِ جَلَّ وَعَلَا بِغَسْلِ الرَّجُلَيْنِ فِي سُورَةِ الْمَائِدَةِ

ibnhibban:1337 – Muḥammad b. Aḥmad b. Abū ʿAwn > Fayyāḍ b. Zuhayr > Wakīʿ > al-Aʿmash > Ibrāhīm > Hammām b. al-Ḥārith > Bāl Jarīr b. ʿAbdullāh Thum Tawaḍḍaʾ Wamasaḥ > Khuffayh Faqīl Lah Atafʿal Hadhā

"Jarir bin 'Abdullah urinated, then he performed ablution and wiped over his leather socks. Someone asked him: 'Do you do this?' He said: 'Why shouldn't I? I saw the Messenger of Allah doing this.'" Ibrahim (who narrated it from Hammam) said: "They were pleased by the Hadith of Jarir because he accepted Islam after the revelation of Ma'idah." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 543)

ابن حبّان:١٣٣٧ – أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَوْنٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا فَيَّاضُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ بَالَ جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ فَقِيلَ لَهُ أَتَفْعَلُ هَذَا؟ فَقَالَ

«وَمَا يَمْنَعُنِي وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَفْعَلُهُ؟ » قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ «فَكَانَ يُعْجِبُهُمْ حَدِيثُ جَرِيرٍ لِأَنَّ إِسْلَامَهُ كَانَ بَعْدَ نُزُولِ الْمَائِدَةِ»
