The Prophet's ﷺ dua after the incident of Taif

When Abu Talib died, the Prophet ﷺ set out for Taif on foot. He called them to Islam, but they did not respond to him, so he turned away. He came to the shade of a tree and prayed two rak‘ahs, then said: “O Allah, to You I complain of my weakness, my lack of resources, and my humiliation before people. Most Merciful of the merciful, You are the Most Merciful of the merciful. To whom will You entrust me? To an enemy who meets me with a scowling face, or to a relative to whom You have given authority over my affairs?"

"If You are not angry with me, then I do not mind; Your forgiveness is more expansive for me. I seek refuge in the nur of Your Face by which the darknesses are illuminated and by which the affairs of this world and the Hereafter are set aright, lest You send down upon me Your anger or cause Your displeasure to befall me. To You belongs the right to pleasure until You are pleased. There is no power except through You.”

لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ أَبُو طَالِبٍ خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِلَى الطَّائِفِ مَاشِيًا عَلَى قَدَمَيْهِ فَدَعَاهُمْ إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ فَلَمْ يُجِيبُوهُ فَانْصَرَفَ فَأَتَى ظِلَّ شَجَرَةٍ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ إِلَيْكَ أَشْكُو ضَعْفَ قُوَّتِي وَقِلَّةَ حِيلَتِي وَهَوَانِي عَلَى النَّاسِ، أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ، أَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ. إِلَى مَنْ تَكِلُنِي؟ إِلَى عَدُوٍّ يَتَجَهَّمُنِي؟ أَمْ إِلَى قَرِيبٍ مَلَّكْتَهُ أَمْرِي؟

إِنْ لَمْ تَكُنْ غَضْبَانًا عَلَيَّ فَلَا أُبَالِي. إِنَّ عَافِيَتَكَ أَوْسَعُ لِي. أَعُوذُ بِنُورِ وَجْهِكَ – الَّذِي أَشْرَقَتْ لَهُ الظُّلُمَاتُ، وَصَلَحَ عَلَيْهِ أَمَرُ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ – أَنْ تُنْزِلَ بِي غَضَبَكَ، أَوْ تُحِلَّ عَلَيَّ سَخَطَكَ. لَكَ الْعُتْبَى حَتَّى تَرْضَى، لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِكَ».
