Anas b. Malik was asked whether Messenger of Allah ﷺ dyed his hair. He said: He had not become old enough to have white hair. Ibn Idris said that he had a few white hair. Abu Bakr and Umar, however, dyed hair with hina' (henna).

سُئِلَ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ هَلْ خَضَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ رَأَى مِنَ الشَّيْبِ إِلاَّ قَالَ ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ كَأَنَّهُ يُقَلِّلُهُ وَقَدْ خَضَبَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتَمِ

I asked Anas b. Malik whether Messenger of Allah ﷺ dyed his hair. He said: He had not reached the stage when (he needed) dyeing (of his white hair). He had a few white hair in his beard. I said to him: Did Abu Bakr dye his hair? He said: Yes, with hina' (henna).

سَأَلْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ هَلْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَضَبَ فَقَالَ لَمْ يَبْلُغِ الْخِضَابَ كَانَ فِي لِحْيَتِهِ شَعَرَاتٌ بِيضٌ قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ أَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَخْضِبُ قَالَ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتَمِ

That he asked Anas: "Did the Messenger of Allah [SAW] dye his hair? He said: "His gray hair didn't go far, it was only a little at his temples."

أَنَّهُ سَأَلَهُ هَلْ خَضَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَمْ يَبْلُغْ ذَلِكَ إِنَّمَا كَانَ شَىْءٌ فِي صُدْغَيْهِ

[AI] Anas was asked, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ dye his hair?" He said, "He did not see any grey hair except for about seventeen or twenty strands at the front of his beard." He said, "He did not dye his hair with henna." Anas was asked, "Did Abu Bakr dye his hair?" He said, "Yes, with henna and katam." Anas was also asked, "Did Umar dye his hair?" He said, "Yes, with henna."

سُئِلَ أَنَسٌ هَلْ خَضَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَرَ مِنَ الشَّيْبِ إِلَّا نَحْوًا مِنْ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ أَوْ عِشْرِينَ شَعْرَةً فِي مُقَدَّمِ لِحْيَتِهِ وَقَالَ إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَشِنْ بِالشَّيْبِ فَقِيلَ لِأَنَسٍ أَشَيْنٌ هُوَ؟ قَالَ كُلُّكُمْ يَكْرَهُهُ وَلَكِنْ خَضَبَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتَمِ وَخَضَبَ عُمَرُ بِالْحِنَّاءِ

[AI] Anas ibn Malik was asked, did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ dye his hair? He replied, no, his hair was not gray. It was then said, O Abu Hamzah, what is gray hair? He said, it is when all of you dislike it. Abu Bakr would dye his hair using henna and katam (a type of hair dye), and Umar would dye his hair using henna.

سُئِلَ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ هَلْ خَضَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ لَا لَمْ يَشِنْهُ الشَّيْبُ قَالَ فَقِيلَ يَا أَبَا حَمْزَةَ وَشَيْنٌ هُوَ؟ قَالَ يُقَالُ كُلُّكُمْ يَكْرَهُهُ وَخَضَبَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتَمِ وَخَضَبَ عُمَرُ بِالْحِنَّاءِ

[AI] I asked Anas ibn Malik, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ dye his hair?" He replied, "He did not dye it. There was only something on his temples. However, Abu Bakr dyed his hair with henna and katam."

سَأَلْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ أَخَضَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ لَمْ يَبْلُغْ ذَلِكَ إِنَّمَا كَانَ شَيْءٌ فِي صُدْغَيْهِ وَلَكِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ خَضَبَ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتَمِ

[AI] I asked Anas ibn Malik, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ dye his hair?" He said, "He never had a lot of gray hair to begin with, only a little. Abu Bakr and Umar used to dye their hair with henna and katam."

سَأَلْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ هَلْ خَضَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ لَمْ يَكُنْ رَأَى يَعْنِي مِنَ الشَّيْبِ إِلَّا يَسِيرًا وَقَدْ خَضَبَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ أَحْسِبُ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتَمِ

[AI] I asked Anas ibn Malik if the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , dyed his hair. He said, "It did not reach your knowledge. He only had a few grey hairs on his temples. However, Abu Bakr used to dye his hair with henna and katam."

قُلْتُ لِأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَخَضَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ لَمْ يَبْلُغْذَلِكَ إِنَّمَا كَانَ شَيْئًا فِي صُدْغَيْهِ وَلَكِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ خَضَبَ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتَمِ

قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَنَسًا هَلْ خَضَّبَ النَّبِيّ ﷺ؟ قَالَ لَمْ يَبْلُغْ ذَلِكَ وَلكن أَبَا بَكْرٍ خَضَّبَ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتْمِ

قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ هَلْ خَضَّبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ لَمْ يَبْلُغْ ذَلِكَ وَلكن أَبَا بَكْرٍ خَضَّبَ بِالْحِنَّاءِ

" عَنْ مُحَمَّد بن سِيرِينَ قَالَ: سُئِل أنَسٌ عَنْ خضَاب رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لم يكُن شَابَ إِلاَّ يَسيرًا، وَلكَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَر خَضَبَا بَعْدَهُ بِالحِنَّاءِ وَالكَتَم".
