“I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a delegation from Kindah, and they thought that I was the best of them. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ are you not from among us?' He said: 'We are the tribe of Banu Nadr bin Kinanah, and we do not attribute ourselves to our mother and we do not deny our forefathers.'”He said: “Ash'ath bin Qais used to say: 'If any man is brought to me who suggests that a man from Quraish does not belong to Nadr bin Kinanah, I would carry out the legal punishment (for slander) on him.'”  

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي وَفْدِ كِنْدَةَ وَلاَ يَرَوْنِي أَفْضَلَهُمْ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَلَسْتُمْ مِنَّا؟ فَقَالَ نَحْنُ بَنُو النَّضْرِ بْنِ كِنَانَةَ لاَ نَقْفُو أُمَّنَا وَلاَ نَنْتَفِي مِنْ أَبِينَا قَالَ فَكَانَ الأَشْعَثُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ يَقُولُ لاَ أُوتَى بِرَجُلٍ نَفَى رَجُلاً مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ مِنَ النَّضْرِ بْنِ كِنَانَةَ إِلاَّ جَلَدْتُهُ الْحَدَّ  

“I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a delegation from Kindah, and they thought that I was the best of them. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ are you not from among us?' [Machine] "I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a delegation from Kindah. Affan said, 'They do not see me as the best among them.' I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we assume that you are one of us?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'We are the sons of Nadr ibn Kinanah, we do not take refuge nor do we disown our forefathers.' Al-Ash'ath said, 'By Allah, I have never heard of anyone from Quraysh who has expelled anyone from the sons of Nadr ibn Kinanah except that I would flog him with the punishment.'"

أَتَيْنَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي رَهْطٍ مِنْ كِنْدَةَ لَا يَرَوْنِي بِأَفْضَلِهِمْ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا نَزْعُمُ أَنَّكَ مِنَّا قَالَ «لَا نَحْنُ بَنُو النَّضْرِ بْنِ كِنَانَةَ لَا نَقْفُوا أُمَّنَا وَلَا نَنْتَفِي مِنْ أَبِينَا» قَالَ الْأَشْعَثُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ لَا أَسْمَعُ أَحَدًا نَفَى قُرَيْشًا مِنْ كِنَانَةَ إِلَّا جَلَدْتُهُ  

[Machine] A group of people from Kindah came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "You are one of us, so intercede for us." He said, "We do not support our enemies nor cut off our ties with our fathers. We are the descendants of Al-Nadr bin Kinanah."  

جَاءَ قَوْمٌ مِنْ كِنْدَةَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالُوا أَنْتَ مِنَّا فَادَّعَوْهُ فَقَالَ «لَا نَقْفُوا أُمَّنَا وَلَا نَنْتَفِي مِنْ أَبِينَا نَحْنُ وَلَدُ النَّضْرِ بْنِ كِنَانَةَ»  

[Machine] I said to the Prophet ﷺ, "Who are you, Messenger of Allah?" He said, "We are the descendants of Nadr ibn Kinanah, we do not betray our trust nor abandon our parents."  

قُلْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنْتَ مِمَّنْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «نَحْنُ بَنُو النَّضْرِ بْنِ كِنَانَةَ لَا نَقْفُو أُمَّنَا وَلَا نَنْتَفِي مِنْ أَبِينَا»
