My father said, "One night we were traveling with the Prophet ﷺ and some people said, 'We wish that Messenger of Allah ﷺ would take a rest along with us during the last hours of the night.' He said, 'I am afraid that you will sleep and miss the (Fajr) prayer.' Bilal said, 'I will make you get up.' So all slept and Bilal rested his back against his Rahila and he too was overwhelmed (by sleep) and slept. The Prophet ﷺ got up when the edge of the sun had risen and said, 'O Bilal! What about your statement?' He replied, 'I have never slept such a sleep.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Allah captured your souls when He wished, and released them when He wished. O Bilal! Get up and pronounce the Adhan for the prayer.' The Prophet ﷺ performed ablution and when the sun came up and became bright, he stood up and prayed."  

سِرْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ لَيْلَةً فَقَالَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ لَوْ عَرَّسْتَ بِنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَخَافُ أَنْ تَنَامُوا عَنِ الصَّلاَةِ قَالَ بِلاَلٌ أَنَا أُوقِظُكُمْ فَاضْطَجَعُوا وَأَسْنَدَ بِلاَلٌ ظَهْرَهُ إِلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ فَغَلَبَتْهُ عَيْنَاهُ فَنَامَ فَاسْتَيْقَظَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَقَدْ طَلَعَ حَاجِبُ الشَّمْسِ فَقَالَ يَا بِلاَلُ أَيْنَ مَا قُلْتَ قَالَ مَا أُلْقِيَتْ عَلَىَّ نَوْمَةٌ مِثْلُهَا قَطُّ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَبَضَ أَرْوَاحَكُمْ حِينَ شَاءَ وَرَدَّهَا عَلَيْكُمْ حِينَ شَاءَ يَا بِلاَلُ قُمْ فَأَذِّنْ بِالنَّاسِ بِالصَّلاَةِ فَتَوَضَّأَ فَلَمَّا ارْتَفَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ وَابْيَاضَّتْ قَامَ فَصَلَّى  

"We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when some of the people said: 'Why do you not stop with us to rest awhile, 0 Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' He said: 'I am afraid that you will sleep and miss the prayer.' Bilal said:'I will wake you up.' So they lay down and slept, and Bilal leaned back on his mount. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up when the sun had already started to rise, and he said: '0 Bilal, what about what you told us?' He said: 'I have never slept like that before.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, takes your souls when He wills and sends them back when He wills.' Stand up 0 Bilal and call the people to prayer.' Then Bilal stood up and & called the Adhan, and they performed Wudu' - that is, when the sun had risen (fully) - "then he stood and lead them in prayer."  

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذْ قَالَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ لَوْ عَرَّسْتَ بِنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ تَنَامُوا عَنِ الصَّلاَةِ قَالَ بِلاَلٌ أَنَا أَحْفَظُكُمْ فَاضْطَجَعُوا فَنَامُوا وَأَسْنَدَ بِلاَلٌ ظَهْرَهُ إِلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ فَاسْتَيْقَظَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَقَدْ طَلَعَ حَاجِبُ الشَّمْسِ فَقَالَ يَا بِلاَلُ أَيْنَ مَا قُلْتَ قَالَ مَا أُلْقِيَتْ عَلَىَّ نَوْمَةٌ مِثْلُهَا قَطُّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ اللَّهَ ﷻ قَبَضَ أَرْوَاحَكُمْ حِينَ شَاءَ فَرَدَّهَا حِينَ شَاءَ قُمْ يَا بِلاَلُ فَآذِنِ النَّاسَ بِالصَّلاَةِ فَقَامَ بِلاَلٌ فَأَذَّنَ فَتَوَضَّئُوا يَعْنِي حِينَ ارْتَفَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ  

[Machine] We were traveling with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a night journey when we said, "O Messenger of Allah, if only you would marry us." He replied, "I fear that you will neglect the prayer. Who will wake us up for prayer?" Bilal said, "I will, O Messenger of Allah." So he married the people and we lay down. Bilal leaned against his riding animal and was overcome by sleep. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up with the rising of the sun and said, "O Bilal, where is what you promised us?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah, by the One who sent you with the truth, I have never experienced sleep like that before." He ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah takes your souls when He wills and returns them to you when He wills, then He orders them to disperse for their needs and for ablution."  

سَرَيْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ فِي سَفَرٍ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَوْ عَرَّسْتَ بِنَا فَقَالَ إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ تَنَامُوا عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فَمَنْ يُوقِظُنَا لِلصَّلَاةِ؟ فَقَالَ بِلَالٌ أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ فَعَرَّسَ بِالْقَوْمِ فَاضْطَجَعْنَا وَاسْتَنَدَ بِلَالٌ إِلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ فَغَلَبَتْهُ عَيْنَاهُ وَاسْتَيْقَظَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَدْ طَلَعَ حَاجِبُ الشَّمْسِ فَقَالَ يَا بِلَالُ أَيْنَ مَا قُلْتَ لَنَا؟ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ مَا أُلْقِيَتْ عَلَيَّ نَوْمَةٌ مِثْلُهَا فَقَالَ ﷺ إِنَّ اللهَ قَبَضَ أَرْوَاحَكُمْ حِينَ شَاءَ وَرَدَّهَا عَلَيْكُمْ حِينَ شَاءَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُمْ فَانْتَشَرُوا لِحَاجَتِهِمْ وَتَوَضَّئُوا  

[Machine] We traveled with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and some people said, "Why don't you get married to one of us, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "I fear that you will neglect the prayer." Then Bilal said, "I can wake you up." So he leaned against his mount and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up as the sun's rays appeared. He said, "O Bilal, where is what you said?" Bilal replied, "I was overwhelmed by sleep the likes of which I have never slept before." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Get up and call the people to prayer." When the sun rose and its rays turned white, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood and led them in prayer.  

سِرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ لَوْ عَرَّسْتَ بِنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «أَخَافُ أَنْ تَنَامُوا عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ» فَقَالَ بِلَالٌ أَنَا أُوقِظُكُمْ فَاسْتَنَدَ إِلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ وَاسْتَيْقَظَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَقَدْ طَلَعَ حَاجِبُ الشَّمْسِ فَقَالَ «يَا بِلَالُ أَيْنَ مَا قُلْتَ؟ » قَالَ أُلْقِيَتْ عَلَيَّ نَوْمَةٌ مَا نِمْتُ مِثْلَهَا قَطُّ قَالَ «قُمْ فَأَذِّنِ النَّاسَ بِالصَّلَاةِ» فَلَمَّا طَلَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ وَابْيَضَّتْ قَامَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ
