Jubayr ibn Nufayr said, "I heard him say that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "If you openly show your suspicions of people, you will corrupt them.' I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: If you search for the faults of the people, you will corrupt them, or will nearly corrupt them. AbudDarda' said: These are the words which Mu'awiyah himself from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and Allah benefited him by them.

ذِكْرُ الْإِخْبَارِ عَنْ نَفْيِ جَوَازِ ذِكْرِ تَتَبُّعِ الْمَرْءِ عُيُوبَ أَخِيهِ الْمُسْلِمِ
I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “If you follow the faults of people, you will corrupt them or risk corrupting them.”
He said that Abū Dardāʾ said, “Muʿāwiyah heard ˹this˺ statement from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Allah benefited him by it.”
