[AI] "To the Messenger of Allahﷺ how are you when you remain among the scum of the people?" He said, "I said, O Messenger of Allah, how is that?" He said, "When their promises are broken, their trusts are violated, and they act in such a manner." Then Prophet Yunus interlaced his fingers and described it. He said, "I said, what should I do at that, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Fear Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, and take what you know and leave what you condemn, and focus on your own affairs and those who are close to you."

لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ كَيْفَ أَنْتَ إِذَا بَقِيتَ فِي حُثَالَةٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَيْفَ ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ إِذَا مَرِجَتْ عُهُودُهُمْ وَأَمَانَاتُهُمْ وَكَانُوا هَكَذَا وَشَبَّكَ يُونُسُ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ يَصِفُ ذَاكَ قَالَ قُلْتُ مَا أَصْنَعُ عِنْدَ ذَاكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ اتَّقِ اللهَ ﷻ وَخُذْ مَا تَعْرِفُ وَدَعْ مَا تُنْكِرُ وَعَلَيْكَ بِخَاصَّتِكَ وَإِيَّاكَ وَعَوَامَّهُمْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "How will you be, O Abdullah, when you remain in the midst of people's refuse?" He asked, "What are they, O Messenger of Allah?" He ﷺ said, "That is when they violate their trusts, break their agreements and become like this" - and he intertwined his fingers. He asked, "So what about me, O Messenger of Allah?" He ﷺ said, "You should do what you know, leave what you dislike, and live separate from the common people."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «كَيْفَ أَنْتَ يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ إِذَا بَقِيتَ فِي حُثَالَةٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ»؟ قَالَ وَذَاكَ مَا هُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «ذَاكَ إِذَا مَرِجَتْ أَمَانَاتُهُمْ وَعُهُودُهُمْ وَصَارُوا هَكَذَا» وَشَبَّكَ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ قَالَ فَكَيْفَ بِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «تَعْمَلُ مَا تَعْرِفُ وَدَعْ مَا تُنْكِرُ وَتَعْمَلُ بِخَاصَّةِ نَفْسِكَ وَتَدَعُ عَوَامَّ النَّاسِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Abdullah ibn Amr, how will you be when you remain among the lowest of people?" He said, "And who are they, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Those are the ones who break their trusts, betray their covenants, and become like this." And he intertwined his fingers. He said, "So how do you see it, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "You must do what you know, forbid what you condemn, and prioritize yourself while leaving the common people."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «كَيْفَ أَنْتَ يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو إِذَا بَقِيتَ فِي حُثَالَةٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ»؟ قَالَ وَذَاكَ مَا هُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «ذَاكَ إِذَا مَرِجَتْ أَمَانَاتُهُمْ وَعُهُودُهُمْ وَصَارُوا هَكَذَا» وَشَبَّكَ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ قَالَ فَكَيْفَ تَرَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «تَعْمَلُ مَا تَعْرِفُ وَتَدَعُ مَا تُنْكِرُ وَتَعْمَلُ بِخَاصَّةِ نَفْسِكَ وَتَدَعُ عَوَامَّ النَّاسِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "How would you be, O Abdullah bin Amr, if you were left among the riffraff of people?" Abdullah responded, "And what about them, O Messenger of Allah?" Abdullah asked, "So how about me, O Messenger of Allah?" قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «كَيْفَ أَنْتَ يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو لَوْ بَقِيتَ فِي حُثَالَةٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ؟ » قَالَ وَذَاكَ مَا هُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «ذَاكَ إِذَا مَرِجَتْ عُهُودُهُمْ وَأَمَانَاتُهُمْ وَصَارُوا هَكَذَا» وَشَبَّكَ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ قَالَ فَكَيْفَ بِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «تَعْمَلُ بِمَا تَعْرِفُ وَتَدَعُ مَا تُنْكِرُ وَتَعْمَلُ بِخَاصَّةِ نَفْسِكِ وَتَدَعُ عَوَامَّ النَّاسِ»

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لِعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو «كَيْفَ بِكَ إِذَا بَقِيتَ فِي حُثَالَةٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَقَدْ مُزِجَتْ عُهُودُهُمْ وَأَمَانَاتُهُمْ وَاخْتَلَفُوا فَصَارُوا هَكَذَا وَشَبَّكَ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ ؟» قَالَ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «اعْمَلْ بِمَا تَعْرِفُ وَدَعْ مَا تُنْكِرُ وَإِيَّاكَ وَالتَّلَوُّنَ فِي دِينِ اللهِ وَعَلَيْكَ بِخَاصَّةِ نَفْسِكَ وَدَعْ عَوَامَّهُمْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Abdullah bin Amr, "How are you when you are amidst the worst of people, whose hearts have become hardened and whose trust has been broken, and their hearts are contentious?" أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لِعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو «كَيْفَ أَنْتَ إِذَا بَقِيتَ فِي حُثَالَةٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ مَرِجَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَأَمَانَاتُهُمْ وَاخْتَلَفَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ» وَشَبَّكَ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ قَالَ كَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ؟ قَالَ عَلَيْكَ بِمَا تَعْرِفُ وَدَعْ مَا تُنْكِرُ وَعَلَيْكَ بِخُوَيْصَّةِ نَفْسِكَ وَإِيَّاكَ وَعَوَامَّهُمْ

[AI] He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us while we were in the mosque, and I was the ninth of nine. He said to us, "Do you listen? Are you listening?" Three times he said, "It is certain that there will be leaders over you. Whoever visits them and supports them in their wrongdoing, he is not of me and I am not of him. He will not come to my pond on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever visits them and does not support them in their wrongdoing, he is of me and I am of him. He will come to my pond on the Day of Resurrection." He said, "And Sahl bin Saad also narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his companions, 'How will you be when you are left in the worst people? People will betray their trust and break their covenants.' They said, 'Then what should we do, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'Take what you know and leave what you disapprove of.' Then he specifically addressed Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-As and said, 'What do you command me to do in this situation, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'I command you to have Taqwa of Allah in yourself and your affairs in general.'

أَنَّهُ قَالَ خَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ أَنَا تَاسِعُ تِسْعَةٍ فَقَالَ لَنَا أَتَسْمَعُونَ؟ هَلْ تَسْمَعُونَ؟ ثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَئِمَّةٌ فَمَنْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَصَدَّقَهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَأَعَانَهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ فَلَسْتُ مِنْهُ وَلَيْسَ مِنِّي وَلَا يَرِدُ عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَمَنْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَمْ يُصَدِّقْهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَلَمْ يُعِنْهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ فَهُوَ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ وَسَيَرِدُ عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنِي أَيْضًا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ كَيْفَ أَنْتُمْ إِذَا بَقِيتُمْ فِي حُثَالَةٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ مَرِجَتْ أَمَانَتُهُمْ وَعُهُودُهُمْ وَكَانُوا هَكَذَا ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ أَصَابِعَهُ بَعْضَهَا فِي بَعْضٍ فَقَالُوا فَإِذَا كَانَ كَذَلِكَ كَيْفَ نَفْعَلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ خُذُوا مَا تَعْرِفُونَ وَدَعُوا مَا تُنْكِرُونَ ثُمَّ خَصَّ بِهَذَا عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهُ فَقَالَ مَا تَأْمُرُنِي بِهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ آمُرُكَ بِتَقْوَى اللهِ عَلَيْكَ بِنَفْسِكَ وَإِيَّاكَ وَعَامَّةَ الْأُمُورِ

"كَيفَ بِكَ إِذَا بَقِيتَ لي حُثَالة مِنْ النَّاسِ قَدْ، مَرِجَتْ عُهُودُهُم وَأَمَانَاتِهمْ وَاخْتَلَفُوا - فَصَارُوا هَكَذَا - وَشَبَّكَ بَينَ أَصَابِعِهِ؟ قَال: الله وَرَسولُهُ أَعْلَمُ. قَال: اعْمَلْ بمَا تَعْرِفُ، وَدع مَا تُنْكِرُ، وَإياكَ وَالتَّلَوُّنَ فِي دِينِ الله، وَعَلَيكَ بِخَاصَّةِ نَفْسِكَ، وَدَعْ عَوَامَّهُمْ".

"عَنْ كَعْبِ بنِ عَجْرَةَ قَالَ: خَرَجَ إلَيْنَا رَسُولُ الله ﷺ ونحنُ في المسجْدِ أَنَا تَاسِعُ تِسْعة: خَمْسة من العَرَبِ، وأَربعة من العَجَم فَقَالَ لَنَا: أتَسمَعُونَ، هَلْ

تَسْمَعُونَ؟ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ. قُلْنَا: سَمِعْنَا، قَالَ: فاسْمَعُوا إِذَنْ: إِنَّها سَتَكُونُ عَليْكُم أَئِمَّةٌ، فَمنْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِم فَصَدَّقهُمْ بكذبهم وَأَعَانَهمُ عَلى ظُلْمِهِمْ فلسْتُ مِنْهُ ولَيْسَ مِنَّى، وَلَا يرِد عَلَى الْحَوضِ يَوْمَ القِيَامَة، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَدْخُلْ عَلَيهِمْ وَلمْ يُصَدِّقْهُمْ بِكذِبِهمْ وَلَمْ يُعنْهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ فهوَ مِنَّى وَأنَا مِنْهُ وسَيَرِد عَلَى الْحوضِ يَوْم القيامة".
