He who has in his heart the weight of a mustard seed of pride shall not enter Paradise. A person (amongst his hearers) said: Verily a person loves that his dress should be fine, and his shoes should be fine. He (the Holy Prophet) remarked: Verily, Allah is Graceful and He loves Grace. Pride is disdaining the truth (out of self-conceit) and contempt for the people.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "One who has an atom’s weight of faith in his heart will not enter the Hellfire, and one who has an atom’s weight of arrogance in his heart will not enter Paradise." A man then asked, "O Messenger of Allah, I like to dress nicely, have clean hair, wear new shoes, and mention things until I even mention the strap of my whip. Does that count as arrogance?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "No, that is not arrogance. That is beauty. Indeed, Allah is beautiful and loves beauty. Arrogance is rejecting the truth and looking down upon people."
