"لا يَأخُذَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ مَتَاعَ صَاحبه لاعبًا وَلا جَادًّا، وَإنْ أخَذَ كَمَأَ صَاحِبه فَليَرُدَّهَا عَلَيهِ".
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: None of you should take the property of his brother in amusement (i.e. jest), nor in earnest. The narrator Sulayman said: Out of amusement and out of earnest. If anyone takes the staff of his brother, he should return it. The transmitter Ibn Bashshar did not say "Ibn Yazid, and he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said.
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لاَ يَأْخُذَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ مَتَاعَ أَخِيهِ لاَعِبًا وَلاَ جَادًّا وَقَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ لَعِبًا وَلاَ جِدًّا وَمَنْ أَخَذَ عَصَا أَخِيهِ فَلْيَرُدَّهَا لَمْ يَقُلِ ابْنُ بَشَّارٍ ابْنِ يَزِيدَ وَقَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Let one of you not take his brother's staff, neither in play nor seriousness. Whoever took his brother's staff, then let him return it to him."'
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ يَأْخُذْ أَحَدُكُمْ عَصَا أَخِيهِ لاَعِبًا أَوْ جَادًّا فَمَنْ أَخَذَ عَصَا أَخِيهِ فَلْيَرُدَّهَا إِلَيْهِ
[AI] He heard the Prophet ﷺ saying: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'None of you should take his companion's belongings seriously or playfully, and if any of you finds his companion's stick, then he should return it to him.'"
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يَأْخُذَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ مَتَاعَ صَاحِبِهِ جَادًّا وَلَا لَاعِبًا وَإِذَا وَجَدَ أَحَدُكُمْ عَصَا صَاحِبِهِ فَلْيَرْدُدْهَا عَلَيْهِ
[AI] He heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "One of you should not take the belongings of his companion as a serious play. And if any one of you takes the stick of his brother, then he should return it to him."
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَقولُ لَا يَأْخُذَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ مَتَاعَ صَاحِبِهِ لَعِبًا جَادًّا وَإِذَا أَخَذَ أَحَدُكُمْ عَصَا أَخِيهِ فَلْيَرْدُدْهَا عَلَيْهِ
[AI] From the Prophet ﷺ who said, "None of you should take his brother's belongings in a serious manner. And if any one of you takes his brother's stick, then he should return it to him."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا يَأْخُذَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ مَتَاعَصَاحِبِهِ لَعِبًا جَادًّا وَإِذَا أَخَذَ أَحَدُكُمْ عَصَا أَخِيهِ فَلْيَرْدُدْهَا عَلَيْهِ

And his son, Al-Sa'ib ibn Yazid, met the Prophet ﷺ and narrated this hadith from him. Al-Dhahabi did not mention it in his summary.
