from the Prophet ﷺ who said ˹to the people of Madinah˺: "What is between the east and the west is Qiblah."

Abū ʿĪsá said, "This is a Ḥasan-Ṣaḥīḥ ḥadīth this was said because of ʿAbdullāh b. Jaʿfar al-Makhramī because he was from the descendants of Miswar b. Makhramah.

This has been reported from more than one Companion of the Prophet ﷺ that "What is between the east and the west is Qiblah." Among them are ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb, ʿAlī b. Abū Ṭālib, and Ibn ʿAbbās. Ibn ʿUmar said, "As you face the Qiblah when you place the west to your right and the east to your left, what is between them is the Qiblah." Ibn al-Mubārak said, "What is between the east and the west is Qiblah." This is for the people of the east, and ʿAbdullāh b. al-Mubārak chose westward orientation for the people of Marw (a town in Persia)."

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Umar ibn al-Khattab said, "Any direction that is between east and west can be taken as a qibla if the person praying is face-on to the House."
