quran:44:34

Indeed, these ˹disbelievers˺ are saying,  

Indeed these ones, that is, the Meccan disbelievers, say,
القرآن:٤٤:٣٤

إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَيَقُولُونَ  

{إن هؤلاء} أي كفار مكة {ليقولون}.

˹And said˺, "Indeed, those are but a small band,  

‘Lo! these are but a small gang. It is said that they ˹the Children of Israel˺ numbered 670,000, while his ˹Pharaoh’s˺ vanguard alone numbered 700,000 and so he deemed their number insignificant in comparison to his huge army.
القرآن:٢٦:٥٤

إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ  

{إن هؤلاء لشرذمةٌ} طائفة {قليلون} قيل كانوا ستمائة ألف وسبعين ومقدمة جيشه سبعمائة ألف فقللهم بالنظر إلى كثرة جيشه.
ahmad:249Yaḥyá > Yaḥyá > Saʿīd b. al-Musayyibiʾan ʿUmar > Iyyākum > Tahlikūā > Āyah al-Rajm

I heard Saʿeed bin al-Musayyab (say) that ʿUmar (ؓ ) said: Beware of neglecting the verse of stoning, lest someone say, We do not find two hadd punishments in the Book of Allah, for I saw the Prophet ﷺ stone [adulterers] and we stoned [adulterers] too.  

أحمد:٢٤٩حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ يَحْيَى قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِأَنَّ عُمَرَ قَالَ إِيَّاكُمْ أَنْ تَهْلِكُوا عَنْ آيَةِ الرَّجْمِ
