By the star when it descends,  

وَالنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ  

Your companion ˹Muhammad˺ has not strayed, nor has he erred,  

مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَىٰ  

Nor does he speak from ˹his own˺ inclination.  

وَمَا يَنْطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَىٰ  

It is not but a revelation revealed,  

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَىٰ  

Taught to him by one intense in strength -  

عَلَّمَهُ شَدِيدُ الْقُوَىٰ  

One of soundness. And he rose to ˹his˺ true form  

ذُو مِرَّةٍ فَاسْتَوَىٰ  

While he was in the higher ˹part of the˺ horizon.  

وَهُوَ بِالْأُفُقِ الْأَعْلَىٰ  

Then he approached and descended  

ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ  

And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer.  

فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ  

And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed.  

فَأَوْحَىٰ إِلَىٰ عَبْدِهِ مَا أَوْحَىٰ  

The heart did not lie ˹about˺ what it saw.  

مَا كَذَبَ الْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰ  

So will you dispute with him over what he saw?  

أَفَتُمَارُونَهُ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ  

And he certainly saw him in another descent  

وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَىٰ  

At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary -  

عِنْدَ سِدْرَةِ الْمُنْتَهَىٰ  

Near it is the Garden of Refuge -  

عِنْدَهَا جَنَّةُ الْمَأْوَىٰ  

When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered ˹it˺.  

إِذْ يَغْشَى السِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ  

The sight ˹of the Prophet˺ did not swerve, nor did it transgress ˹its limit˺.  

مَا زَاغَ الْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ  

He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord.  

لَقَدْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرَىٰ
