He sent him (the message) to apply aloes to them, for 'Uthman (Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ applied aloes to the person whose eyes were sore and he was in the state of Ihram.

Nubaih b Wahb reported that the eyes of Umar b. Ubaidnllah b. Ma'mar were swollen, and he decided to use antimony. Aban b. 'Uthman forbade him to do so and commanded him to apply aloes on them, and reported on the authority of 'Uthman b. Affan that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had done that.

Umar b. Ubaidullah b. Ma'mar sent me to Aban b. Uthman as he wanted to make the proposal of the marriage of his son with the daughter of Shaiba b. Uthman. He (Aban b. Uthman) was at that time (busy) in the season of Pilgrimage. He said: I deem him to be a man of the desert (for it is a common thing) that a Muhrim can neither marry, nor is he allowed to be married to anyone. It is Uthman (b. Affan) who reported this to us from Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

Nubaih bin Wahb said ‘Umar bin ‘Ubaid Allah bin Ma’mar had a complaint in his eyes. He sent (someone) to Aban bin ‘Uthman - the narrator Sufyan said that he was the chief of pilgrims during the season of Hajj – asking him what he should do with them. He said Apply aloes to them, for I heard ‘Uthaman narrating this on the authority of the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ.

Umar bin Ubaidullah bin Ma'mar was complaining about his eyes while he was a Muhrim. He asked Aban bin Uthman about it and he said: "Bandage it with some aloes, for I heard Uthman bin Affan mentioning that the Messenger of Allah said: 'Bandage it with aloes.'"

[AI] About Nubayh ibn Wahb that a man from the Quraysh proposed to Aban ibn Uthman and he was the leader of Al-Mawsim. Aban said, "I only see him as an impoverished man from Iraq. Indeed, the one who is in the state of ihram neither marries nor is he married." Uthman informed us about that from the Messenger of Allah. Abu Muhammad was asked, "Do you agree with this?" He said, "Yes."

He sent word back to him telling him that he could apply aloes to them, and I heard ʿUthman bin Affanؓ narrating that from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ .

Nubaih bin Wahb narrated that the eye of ʿUmar bin Ubaidullah became inflamed when he was in ihram, and he wanted to apply kohl to it, but Aban bin ʿUthman ؓ forbade him to do that and told him to apply aloes to it. He said that ʿUthman ؓ narrated from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he had done that.

ʿUmar bin ʿUbaidullah bin Maʿmar had a problem in his eyes. He sent word to Aban bin ʿUthman ؓ - Sufyan said: He was the Ameer (of Hajj) - to ask what he should do. He said: Apply aloes to them, for I heard ‘Uthman ؓ narrate that from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

ʿUmar bin Ubaidullah bin Ma’mar proposed marriage on behalf of his son to the daughter of Shaibah bin ʿUthman. He sent me to Aban bin ʿUthman, who was the leader of the Hajj, and he [Aban] said: I think he must be a Bedouin. ʿThe pilgrim in ihram should not get married or arrange a marriage.ʿ ‘Uthman ؓ told me that from the Prophet ﷺ , and Nubaih told me something similar from his father.

Abu Dawud said “I heard Muhammad bin Isa narrating this tradition who said Mu’tamar narrated it to us. And he (Mu’tamar) said “ I heard Al Hakam bin Aban narrating this tradition. He did not mention the name of Ibn ‘Abbas. Abu Dawud said “Al Hussain bin Huraith wrote to me saying “Al Fadl bin Musa narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas to the same effect from the Prophet ﷺ.
