I and Masruq went to 'A'isha and said to her: Mother of the Believers, there are two persons among the Companions of Muhammad ﷺ one among whom hastens in breaking the fast and in observing prayer, and the other delays breaking the fast and delays observing prayer. She said: Who among the two hastens in breaking fast and observing prayers? We said, It is 'Abdullah. i. e. son of Mas'ud. whereupon she said: This is how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did. Abu Kuraib added: The second one was Abu Musa.  

دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَمَسْرُوقٌ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ فَقُلْنَا: يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَجُلاَنِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ أَحَدُهُمَا يُعَجِّلُ الإِفْطَارَ وَيُعَجِّلُ الصَّلاَةَ، وَالآخَرُ يُؤَخِّرُ الإِفْطَارَ وَيُؤَخِّرُ الصَّلاَةَ۔ قَالَتْ: أَيُّهُمَا الَّذِي يُعَجِّلُ الإِفْطَارَ وَيُعَجِّلُ الصَّلاَةَ؟ قَالَ قُلْنَا: عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ۔ قَالَتْ: كَذَلِكَ كَانَ يَصْنَعُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ  

I and Misruq went to 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) and Masruq said to her: There are two persons among the Companions of Muhammad ﷺ none of whom abandons the good, but one of them hastens to observe sunset prayer and break the fast, and the other delays in observing the sunset prayer and in breaking the fast, whereupon she said: Who hastens to observe sunset prayer and break the fast? He said: It is 'Abdullah. Upon this she said: This is how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do.  

دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَمَسْرُوقٌ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ ؓ فَقَالَ لَهَا مَسْرُوقٌ: رَجُلاَنِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ كِلاَهُمَا لاَ يَأْلُو عَنِ الْخَيْرِ: أَحَدُهُمَا يُعَجِّلُ الْمَغْرِبَ وَالإِفْطَارَ، وَالآخَرُ يُؤَخِّرُ الْمَغْرِبَ وَالإِفْطَارَ۔ فَقَالَتْ: مَنْ يُعَجِّلُ الْمَغْرِبَ وَالإِفْطَارَ؟ قَالَ: عَبْدُ اللَّهِ فَقَالَتْ: هَكَذَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَصْنَعُ  

"I said to 'Aishah: 'Among us there are two men, one of whom hastens Iftar and delays Sahur, and the other delays Iftar and hastens Sahur.' She said; 'Which of them is the one who hastens Iftar and delays Sahur?' I said: "Abdullah bin Masud.' She said; 'This is what the Messenger of Allah used to do."'  

قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ فِينَا رَجُلاَنِ أَحَدُهُمَا يُعَجِّلُ الإِفْطَارَ وَيُؤَخِّرُ السُّحُورَ وَالآخَرُ يُؤَخِّرُ الْفِطْرَ وَيُعَجِّلُ السُّحُورَ قَالَتْ أَيُّهُمَا الَّذِي يُعَجِّلُ الإِفْطَارَ وَيُؤَخِّرُ السُّحُورَ قُلْتُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَتْ هَكَذَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَصْنَعُ  

"Masruq and I came to 'Aishah, and Masruq said to her: 'There are two men from among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah both of whom are good; one of them delays the prayer and Ifar, and the other hastens the prayer and Iftar.' 'Aishah said: 'Which of them is the one who hastens the prayer and Iftar?' Masruq said: 'That is what the Messenger of Allah used to do."'  

لَهَا مَسْرُوقٌ رَجُلاَنِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ كِلاَهُمَا لاَ يَأْلُو عَنِ الْخَيْرِ أَحَدُهُمَا يُؤَخِّرُ الصَّلاَةَ وَالْفِطْرَ وَالآخَرُ يُعَجِّلُ الصَّلاَةَ وَالْفِطْرَ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ أَيُّهُمَا الَّذِي يُعَجِّلُ الصَّلاَةَ وَالْفِطْرَ قَالَ مَسْرُوقٌ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ هَكَذَا كَانَ يَصْنَعُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ  

"Masruq and I came to 'Aishah and we said to her: 'O mother of the Believers, two men from among the Companions of Muhammad; one of them hastens the Iftar and hastens the prayer, and the other delays Iftar and delays the prayer; She said: 'Which one of them hastens Iftar and has hastens the prayer?' we said : 'Abdullah bin Masud.' She said: 'That is what the Messenger of Allah used to do."" And the other was Abu Musa.

I and Masruq entered upon 'Aishah and we said: Mother of believers, there are two persons from the Companions of the Muhammad ﷺ. One of them hastens to break the fast and hastens to pray while the other delays to break the fast and delays praying. She asked: Which of them hastens to break the fast and hasten to pray ? We replied: 'Abd Allah (b. Mas'ud). She said: Thus did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do.  

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ ؓ أَنَا وَمَسْرُوقٌ فَقُلْنَا يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَجُلاَنِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ أَحَدُهُمَا يُعَجِّلُ الإِفْطَارَ وَيُعَجِّلُ الصَّلاَةَ وَالآخَرُ يُؤَخِّرُ الإِفْطَارَ وَيُؤَخِّرُ الصَّلاَةَ قَالَتْ أَيُّهُمَا يُعَجِّلُ الإِفْطَارَ وَيُعَجِّلُ الصَّلاَةَ قُلْنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ قَالَتْ كَذَلِكَ كَانَ يَصْنَعُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ  

"Masruq and I entered upon Aishah and we said: 'O Mother of the Believers! There are two men from the Companions of Muhammad, one of them hastens to break the fasts and he hastens to perform Salat. The other delays breaking the fast and he delays the Salat.' She said: 'Which of them hastens to break the fast and hastens to perform the Salat?' We said that it was Abdullah bin Mas'ud. She said: 'This is how the Messenger of Allah did it.' And the other was Abu Musa."

"I said to 'Aishah: 'Among us there are two of the Companions of the Prophet, one of whom hastens Iftar and delays Sahur, and the other delays Iftar and hastens Sahur.' She said: 'Which of them is the one who hastens Ifar and delays Sahur?' I said: "Abdullah bin Masud.' She said: 'That is what the Messenger of Allah used to do."' قُلْنَا لِعَائِشَةَ إِنَّ فِينَا رَجُلَيْنِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَحَدُهُمَا يُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُؤَخِّرُ السُّحُورَ وَالْآخَرُ يُؤَخِّرُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُعَجِّلُ السُّحُورَ قَالَ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ أَيُّهُمَا الَّذِي يُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُؤَخِّرُ السُّحُورَ؟ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ هُوَ عَبْدُ اللهِ فَقَالَتْ كَذَا كَانَ يَصْنَعُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ  

"Masruq and I came to 'Aishah and we said to her: 'O mother of the Believers, two men from among the Companions of Muhammad; one of them hastens the Iftar and hastens the prayer, and the other delays Iftar and delays the prayer; She said: 'Which one of them hastens Iftar and has hastens the prayer?' we said : 'Abdullah bin Masud.' "I said to 'Aishah: 'Among us there are two of the Companions of the Prophet, one of whom hastens Iftar and delays Sahur, and the other delays Iftar and hastens Sahur.' "I said to 'Aishah: 'Among us there are two of the Companions of the Prophet, one of whom hastens Iftar and delays Sahur, and the other delays Iftar and hastens Sahur.' "Masruq and I came to 'Aishah, and Masruq said to her: 'There are two men from among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah both of whom are good; one of them delays the prayer and Ifar, and the other hastens the prayer and Iftar.' لَهَا مَسْرُوقٌ رَجُلَانِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ كِلَاهُمَا لَا يَأْلُو عَنِ الْخَيْرِ أَحَدُهُمَا يُؤَخِّرُ الصَّلَاةَ وَالْفِطْرَ وَالْآخَرُ يُعَجِّلُ الصَّلَاةَ وَالْفِطْرَ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ أَيُّهُمَا الَّذِي يُعَجِّلُ الصَّلَاةَ وَالْفِطْرَ؟ قَالَ مَسْرُوقٌ عَبْدُ اللهِ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ هَكَذَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَصْنَعُ  

"Masruq and I came to 'Aishah and we said to her: 'O mother of the Believers, two men from among the Companions of Muhammad; one of them hastens the Iftar and hastens the prayer, and the other delays Iftar and delays the prayer; She said: 'Which one of them hastens Iftar and has hastens the prayer?' we said : 'Abdullah bin Masud.' [Machine] We entered upon Aisha and said, "O mother of the believers, there are two men among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ . One of them hastens the breaking of the fast and delays the pre-dawn meal, and the other delays the breaking of the fast and hastens the pre-dawn meal." She said, "Who is this person who hastens the breaking of the fast and delays the pre-dawn meal?" We said, "Ibn Mas'ud." She said, "This is how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do it, so do it accordingly."  

دَخَلْنَا عَلَى عَائِشَةَ فَقُلْنَا يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِنَّ فِينَا رَجُلَيْنِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَمَّا أَحَدُهُمَا فَيُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُؤَخِّرُ السُّحُورَ وَأَمَّا الْآخَرُ فَيُؤَخِرُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُعَجِّلُ السُّحُورَ فَقَالَتْ مَنْ هَذَا الَّذِي يُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُؤَخِّرُ السُّحُورَ؟ قُلْنَا ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَتْ كَذَلِكَ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَهَكَذَا  

[Machine] "He stole from her two men from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ , both of whom were not averse to doing good. One of them would hasten the sunset prayer and hasten the breaking of the fast, while the other would delay the sunset prayer and delay the breaking of the fast. She asked, 'Which of them hastens the sunset prayer and hastens the breaking of the fast?' Ibn Mas'ood said, 'This is how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do.'"  

لَهَا مَسْرُوقٌ رَجُلَانِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ كِلَاهُمَا لَا يَأْلُو عَنِ الْخَيْرِ أَحَدُهُمَا يُعَجِّلُ الْمَغْرِبَ وَيُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَالْآخَرُ يُؤَخِّرُ الْمَغْرِبَ وَيُؤَخِّرُ الْإِفْطَارَ قَالَتْ أَيُّهُمَا الَّذِي يُعَجِّلُ الْمَغْرِبَ وَيُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ؟ قَالَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَتْ هَكَذَا كَانَ يَصْنَعُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ
