[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "We do not inherit what we leave behind, it is a charity." He said to Abdullah bin Rahman, Talha, Saad, and Ali, "I swear by Allah, you know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'We do not inherit what we leave behind, it is a charity?' They said, 'Yes.'"  

الكبرى للنسائي:٦٢٧٣ – أَخْبَرَنِي هِلَالُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ الرَّقِّيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ يَعْنِي وَهُوَ الْجَرْجَرَائِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ وَيُونُسَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَوْسِ بْنِ الْحَدَثَانِ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا نُورَثُ مَا تَرَكْنَا صَدَقَةٌ» قَالَ وَقَالَ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَطَلْحَةَ وَسَعْدٍ وَعَلِيٍّ نَشَدْتُكُمْ بِاللهِ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَا نُورَثُ مَا تَرَكْنَا صَدَقَةٌ؟ قَالُوا نَعَمْ

I heard ʿUmar ؓ say to ‘Abdur-Rahman, Talhah, azZubair and Saʿd: “I adjure you by Allah, by Whose power heaven and earth exist [Sufyan said on one occasion: by Whose leave heaven and earth exist], do you know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ʿWe [Prophets] are not to be inherited from ; what we leave behind is charity”. They said: “By Allah, yes.”  

أحمد:١٣٩١ – حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ

سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَطَلْحَةَ وَالزُّبَيْرِ وَسَعْدٍ نَشَدْتُكُمْ بِاللهِ الَّذِي تَقُومُ بِهِ السَّمَاءُ وَالْأَرْضُ وَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ مَرَّةً الَّذِي بِإِذْنِهِ تَقُومُ أَعَلِمْتُمْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّا لَا نُورَثُ مَا تَرَكْنَا صَدَقَةٌ قَالُوا اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ
