"At the time of the Messenger of Allah we used to be called Samasir (brokers). The Messenger of Allah came to us when we were selling and called us by a name that was better than that. In the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ we used to be called brokers, but the Prophet ﷺ came upon us one day, and called us by a better name than that, saying: O company of merchants, unprofitable speech and swearing takes place in business dealings, so mix it with sadaqah (alms).

[Machine] We used to trade in the city and we used to call ourselves merchants. Then the Messenger of Allah came to us and gave us names that were better than the names we had given ourselves. He said, "O traders, this trade involves idle talk and swearing, so purify it with some charity."

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us while we were transacting in 'Aqiq (a type of precious stone) and we used to call ourselves as middlemen. So, he gave us a name that was better than the name we had given ourselves. He said, 'O group of traders, this trade involves swearing and lying, so purify it with some charity.'"
