they went out with the Messenger of Allah one day and he saw a new grave. He said: "What is this?" They said: "This is so-and-so, the freed slave woman of Banu so-and-so" - whom Messenger of Allah knew - "She died at midday and we did not like to wake you up when you were fasting and taking a nap." The Messenger of Allah stood (for prayer) and the people formed rows behind him. He said four Takbirs over her then he said: "If anyone among you dies while I am still among you, inform me, for my prayer for his is a mercy." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2022)

[Machine] From his uncle Yazid bin Thabit, he said: "They went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one day with a funeral procession until they reached al-Baqi'. He asked, 'What is this?' They said, 'This is so-and-so, the freed slave of so-and-so.' He recognized her and said, 'Why didn't you inform me about her?' They said, 'We buried her during the day and you were sleeping, so we did not want to disturb you.' He stood up and positioned the people behind him, then he made four takbirs (saying 'Allahu Akbar') and said, 'None of you should die without my permission, for my prayer is a mercy for them.'"

[Machine] On a certain day, they went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ carrying a funeral until they reached Al-Baqi'. He said, "What is this?" They said, "This is So-and-so, the freed slave of So-and-so." He recognized her and said, "Why didn't you inform me about her?" They said, "We buried her during the daytime while you were sleeping, and we didn't want to disturb you." So he got up, lined the people behind him, and performed the funeral prayer. Then he said, "None among you should die without my permission as long as I am among you. For indeed, my prayer for him is a mercy."
