What is the matter with them? They said: They have been detained for Jizya. Thereupon Hisham said: I bear testimony to the fact that I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: Allah would torment those who torment people in the world.

مَا شَأْنُهُمْ قَالُوا حُبِسُوا فِي الْجِزْيَةِ فَقَالَ هِشَامٌ أَشْهَدُ لَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُعَذِّبُ الَّذِينَ يُعَذِّبُونَ النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا

‘Urwa bin Al Zubair said “Hisham bin Halim bin Hizam found a man who was the governor of Hims making some Copts stand in the sun for the payment of jizyah. He said “What is this?” I heard the Apostle ﷺ as saying “Allaah Most High will punish those who punish the people in this world.”

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُعَذِّبُ الَّذِينَ يُعَذِّبُونَ النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "Whoever tortures people in this world, Allah will torture him in the Hereafter." Umair said, "Leave them."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ عَذَّبَ النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا عَذَّبَهُ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى فَقَالَ عُمَيْرٌ خَلُّوا عَنْهُمْ

‘Urwa bin Al Zubair said “Hisham bin Halim bin Hizam found a man who was the governor of Hims making some Copts stand in the sun for the payment of jizyah. He said “What is this?” I heard the Apostle ﷺ as saying “Allaah Most High will punish those who punish the people in this world.” (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3045)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يُعَذِّبُ الَّذِينَ يُعَذِّبُونَ النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا

[AI] Hisham, what is this, O Ayyad? Indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: Indeed, Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, punishes those who torture people in the world.

لَهُ هِشَامٌ مَا هَذَا يَا عِيَاضُ؟ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يُعَذِّبُ الَّذِينَ يُعَذِّبُونَ النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا

[AI] One of them to the worker: "What is this, O Fulan? I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , say: 'Indeed, Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, punishes those who inflict punishment on people in this world.'"

أَحَدُهُمَا لِلْعَامِلِ مَا هَذَا يَا فُلَانُ؟ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يُعَذِّبُ الَّذِينَ يُعَذِّبُونَ النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا

[AI] He passed by a people who were being punished with the jizyah in Palestine, so he said, "I have heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Indeed, Allah will torment on the Day of Resurrection those who tormented people in the world.'"

مَرَّ بِقَوْمٍ يُعَذَّبُونَ فِي الْجِزْيَةِ بِفِلَسْطِينَ قَالَ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يُعَذِّبُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُعَذِّبُونَ النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Indeed, the severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection is for the people who inflict the severest punishment on others in this world."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا لِلنَّاسِ فِي الدُّنْيَا

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Indeed, the one who is stingy is in the fire (of Hell)."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ صَاحِبَ الْمَكْسِ فِي النَّارِ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , saying, "Indeed, Allah does not punish, so he mentioned the Hadith."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يُعَذِّبُ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Indeed, Allah does not show mercy to those who do not show mercy to people."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ لَا يَرْحَمُ مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمُ النَّاسَ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Indeed, the one who is relied upon will be punished." So she said, "Yes."

سَمِعْتِ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ الْمُعَوَّلَ عَلَيْهِ يُعَذَّبُ» فَقَالَتْ بَلَى

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُعَذِّبُ الَّذِينَ يُعَذِّبُونَ النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا» قَالَ اذْهَبْ فَخَلِّ سَبِيلَهُمْ

[AI] I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "Indeed, Allah ﷻ does not have mercy upon those who do not have mercy towards others."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ لَا يَرْحَمُ مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمُ النَّاسَ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Verily, the most severe of people in torment to people in this world will be the severest of them in torment on the Day of Resurrection, in the sight of Allah."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا لِلنَّاسِ فِي الدُّنْيَا أَشَدُّهُمْ عَذَابًا عِنْدَ اللهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Indeed, the harshest punishment for people on the Day of Resurrection is the harshest of them in this world." So he said, "Go and leave their path."

سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَشَدُّهُمْ عَذَابًا فِي الدُّنْيَا» فَقَالَ اذْهَبْ فَخَلِّ سَبِيلَهُمْ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Indeed, the one who tortures people in this world, Allah will torture him in the hereafter." So Umar left them and abandoned them.

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ الَّذِي يُعَذَّبُ النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا يُعَذِّبُهُ اللهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ» فَخَلَّى عَنْهُمْ عُمَيْرٌ وَتَرَكَهُمْ

[AI] He heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "Indeed, Allah will punish on the Day of Judgment those who punish people in this world."

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ اللهَ يُعَذَّبُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُعَذِّبُونَ النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا»

[AI] One of them is for the worker. What is this, O Fulan? I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Verily, Allah punishes those who torment people in this worldly life."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللهَ يُعَذِّبُ الَّذِينَ يُعَذِّبُونَ النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا

"إِنَّ الله يُعَذِّبُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذينَ يُعَذِّبُون النَّاسَ في الدُّنْيا".

"مَنْ عَذَّبَ النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا عَذَّبهُ اللهُ".
